1. I have to agree with the other and say that the proto basses look a bit bland. If these basses were labelled as Tanglewood and didn't have the Overwater association would anyone give them a second glance?? Having the big name gives the basses a sense of expectation, without out that they're regular 'cookie cutter' basses. No doubt this will the expand the Overwater brand, but it would have been nice to see a bolder step.

3. Looks like it's been a labour of love. Many congrats
4. Cocobolo's not my favourite wood (personal thing!!!), but I love the shape of the instrument.
5. Great thread Seeing the partial fretlines, and not every fret at that, is a fantastic idea and one which I've only seen on high-end custom stuff (or maybe I should get out more). All in all it looks like it's going to be a great bass. The only problem could be that it has the wrong name on the headstock, but hopefully it'll be good enough to attract the players and not the badge wearers
6. Great catch. Looks like some great work has been done on it as well
7. That's a tasty range of basses Bargain on the sofa as well.
Fired these off today while preparing for a clearout - L to R - Fender , Bass Collection & erm... Jim Deacon (!) - Sofa is Ikea Looking at getting rid of the BC & JD in the near future, reckon a 5'er is required...
If you're looking for a fiver have a look at ACG's Graft basses. Massive bang for the buck and well worth the trip for a gander
8. Ooooo. That's a fantastic bass. To have something Master Built at the Custom Shop must be incredibly special. Enjoy!!
9. That '91 Warwick Streamer is pretty special
10. ....and the fanned frets weren't that bad were they
11. I can recommend the books and DVD's by Dan Erlewine. You can find them at Stew Mac Some colleges run guitar repair courses on evenings, so worth looking at those as well.
12. Blimey
13. Here's the new addition to the bass family. A Dingwall Combustion 5. After not being able to get on with the narrow string spacing of my Carvin 5 string, I sold it (and one of my guitars) to buy myself a replacement. My wife had the chance to go to Florida with friends and their family and this seemed the perfect opportunity to get the new bass. After a bucketload of research, I plumped on a Dingwall Combustion 5. It took a while to track one down as they seemed to be being sold as quickly as they were in stock, but I got there in the end. Superb service from George and Chris at Bass San Diego. Thanks guys So here she is. My wife has appropriately named her "Disney"
14. OOooooo. That's wonderful

16.
sometimes you just have to nod politely and let them be...
Oh yes.....
17. Found this on YouTube. I posted it in a build diaries thread but thought it would be good here as well.
18. Found this while trawling around YouTube Proves what a bass uke can do in a live setting!!
19. You could try a woodworking scraper for working on the neck or pocket. They're steel and cost about a fiver.
20. It's strange Proves as well that stores aren't checking basses before they go on the wall and they should have answers to these questions. Saying that the strings on a Les Paul never go directly over the polepieces!
21. Great project. I got in touch with Road Toad as well about a bass uke, but after 1 reply didn't get anything else! If you don't want an order then so be it! Do you know if Pete builds a bass uke anyway as I can't see anything on his site?
22. An ACG fretless with the piezo/mag + ACG pre is a superb combination
23. Cool collection and handsome dog
24. That's an amazingly cool bass
25. Sounds like it's all worked out well then!!!
