1. The tone also comes from your fingers. I've tried using cadburys chocolate fingers & birds eye fish fingers, but found that my original ones sound best in an A/B comparison.
2. I used to use one with my dean pace EUB. I threw it in with the pace when I sold it, but missed it so much I bought another one. I mostly use it to get a much classier acoustic guitar sound out of my stratacoustic than I would otherwise. I will probably be using it to DI my ABG into the PA at a jam night tomorrow - not sure how that'll go. I'd imagine that the sweepable mid wouldn't be much use for taming feedback, but its so cheap it has to worth a punt - if it doesn't help with the feedback I'm sure you'll get your money's worth of eq. The behringer shark might be worth a look for a dedicated auto feedback buster.
3.
Re. Adam's bass playing, how many times have we seen threads and posts bemoaning bass pyrotechnics and technical virtuosity, and stating a preference for solid playing and songs? Here we have a bass player who does that, he does the perfect job for the band he is in and the songs he plays.
But is it the same people moaning?
4. You need to post your asking price - its the rules
5. Its about £20 secondhand - I can't see any downside. I have one - it sounds good and you can get some nice valvey grit in your sound. Becasue of the band I'm in I use the brown acoustic version ADI21 a lot more which I also have which is very useful with with acoustic & upright basses as well as making my stratacoustic sound a lot classier than it deserves. If you look after it it isnt going to fall apart (despite what some would have you believer)
6. That kind of sunburst would probably look good over ash where you could see the grain.
7. If Adam was asked to design a car I wonder if he'd come up with this:
8. Find some other musicians to play with.
9. Nice. I like musicmasters, although I've sold the pink one and the lilac one belongs to my daughter.
10. It looks like a load of sith
11.
...and of course those two guys with the phenomenal output between them: Trad and Anon.
They wrote some great songs and they never saw a penny of royalties for any of 'em.
12. Flatwound strings should take away some a lot of the nasty zingyness.
13. For anyone within reach of Croydon, there's an open mic / jam at the Oval tavern every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month.
14. have you checked the fuses?
15. Please stop posting these pics - I'm a recovering bassoholic and I'd been gas-free for over two weeks until I opened this thread.
16. According to their website they're on their hols until Wednesday 6th. They should have set up an auto responder on their email to let people know though. Are they the ones that like to find bands on myspace & keep spamming them with special offers dressed up as a personal message?
17.
http://www.worshipguitars.com/product_info...?products_id=61
What's up with that website? click on one the links & it tries to download a php file. Try to go to the home page, at worshipguitars.com and it says access denied. I wouldn't be surprised if those basses were coming out of the same factory as sx - generic copies sold under any number of names at a similar price. Then again Jesus was a carpenter by trade, perhaps he made the basses, but isn't quite as good at making websites.
18. Anyone seen this on the tv shopping channel? http://www.guitarwiz.co.uk/ Imagine turning up to a gig and the guitarist was using one of these? & they'll sell you a £13 tuner for £30
19. If I saw someone using a capo on bass, I'd probably assume he was a numpty who doesn't know his fingerboard very well.
20.
Has anyone tried fitting a D-Tuner to the 4th (E) string of a 5-string bass?
I seriously doubt it
Is there room?
Only one way to find out
21. like the S1 switch on US jazz basses a few years ago, putting the single coil pickups in series is supposed to make the bass sound a bit more chunky like a precision.
22.
DAMN!!!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DANELECTRO-LONGHORN-...e#ht_720wt_1165
Cool Colour - not seem them in that colour before - it would look great with a chessboard pickguard
23.
I don't want to touch the strap buttons =S And i can't change bass! my bass is perfect with my setup Maybe i should try other shirts, idk, is that really the solution?
The only other variable is the strap - maybe try a slidey poly one, a stretchy neoprene one. One of those daft-looking criss-cross ones...
24. an all-original 1966 daphne blue fender mustang in near-mint condition with lollypop tuners & creamy pearl pickguard
