1. James Corden in something funny? I s'pose there's a first time for everything
2. japcrap Yamato jazz copy. bought new from soho soundhouse for £75 late 70s. it was a horrible piece of junk
3. I wouldnt worry about the pickup, but there should be a law against using the later headstock shape with the earlier body . it just ain't natural.
4. No note - I deadened mine by using self adhesive rubber strips under them
5. I got 'em the full set of bridge & pickup cover on two of my Precisions & a pickup cover on the fretless precision and my jazz. I shamelessly stole Jamersons technique of resting my right hand on the cover. Unfortunately that's where the similarity ends.
6. A fantasy version of ishibashi where all the mustangs are at one site.
7. Ford Mustang = Fender Mustang
8. Nick Cave - either with the Bad Seeds or Grinderman Mainstream enough?
9. You've got to have an angle...
10. Something like this, but the with the band instead of marines?
11. When you get there, you have a few drinks and then everyone puts their car keys in a bowl... hang on, forget that - I think I'm getting confused with something else.
12. I wasn't sure if I'd get much use of a 5er, so I got a cheap Peavey Millennium 5 to see whether I took to it. I since bought an NS CR5M & an Epiphone Thunderbird pro-V and sold the peavey. Had I not got on with the extra string I'd have only spent a small amount of money (which I got back when I sold the Peavey), but had I bought a custom 5er and not got on with it, I'd have made a fair old loss. So I'd say why not get a cheap (but decent) 5er such as a Peavey Millennium - secondhand if possible so you'll be able to get what you paid for it back, & see whether you get on with it before spending big bucks.
13. The stock pickups sound good to me on my pro-v - with the eq flat on on the bass & LMII, just tweaking the tone with the amp's VLE & VPF controls. But then again I use flatwounds & probably have cloth ears.
14. in my experience, the Japanese mustangs play much better than the 70s examples I've played - which is why I bought one and why it's my main gigging bass. I love the look of the Gibson, but not the price or feel.
15. nice sunburst. What's a "z" black plate?
16. Nice bass I also own a (customised) red 2003 Highway 1 jazz. It looks like your tuners have been upgraded as well as you have large 70s style backplates, whereas originally a 2003 Highway 1 would have had standard tuners - the same ones used on mexican jazzes.
17. Fantastic news that you're getting it sorted!
18. Wipe down after each gig/rehearsal to remove sweat/blood/snot etc Change Strings, Change batteries if active, Set the neck relief with the truss rod, set bridge saddle height & intonation -set neck angle with shim if neccessary, Lem-oil fingerboard, check & adjust slots in nut. Level & dress frets
19. Red. It reminds me a lot of the £200 Peavey I used to own which was very similar, but purple rather than red. The blue one reminds me of looking into a toilet bowl when one of those blu things is in the cistern. Perhaps EBMM should produce some bongos in that finish
20. The tone is in the fingers, so practice more. .... or get new fingers.
21. Good luck - hopefully you'll get this sorted out without being out of pocket.
22. It looks like this is the camera tripod type stand rather than the heavy duty CR one - is that correct? If its not a design fault, it has to be a manufacturing fault. I'm pretty sure you should be covered by the fit for purpose clause of the sales of good act. I had no trouble getting the apple store to give me a new macbook battery when the one in my out of warranty MacBook bulged (I didn't have to make a fuss & they offered the free replacement before I mentioned my expectations in getting it replaced at no cost) Hopefully your retailer will be similary clued-up. Maybe an email to NS-Design will help, I've heard good things about their customer service in the past, although I've never needed after sales help personally. I use both the endpin stand and the heavy duty stand which came with my CR5M - they seem pretty solid and I've had no trouble so far, but I hope the relevant piece on each is made of stronger stuff than yours.
23. Fret buzz? I think I remember that, but these days I do my own setups and get ultra low action with no buzz. Could be something to do with the TI flats I use
24. We did a set at a local pub's all-day charity gig. Opened with our usual first song - the band's 'up on cripple creek'. not the best choice as the gig was raising funds to buy some chap an electric wheelchair.
