It won't be long before you find yourself wanting to sell your other basses and buy another Fender Precision maybe an American Standard next? Mmmm....
Ha ha ... I won't sell my fretless bass that's for sure. I have a strong feeling I will surround myself with basses over time ... I will certainly get an electric upright at some point but the brakes are on for a while. A fretless Precision will be another "must have" ... Oh dear God
It's that kind of thread!
Yeah .. funny that

Thanks! Plenty of P love going on in here.
So that's 'Dave the P-bass' is it? Looks lovely & with your Jazz - what a nice pair - (tell me you're not to young for that P/F pun) Well pleased you took the plunge & are loving it. Cheerz, John
That's him ... Mr Gilmour. They are a fine pair, your comment is most appropriate. Glad you find them easy on the eye! It will take me 3x as long to play everything now as I want to compare the differences in each of the basses. God help me when I have 27!
I can't think that I've posted my bass in here... Maybe I should.
For sure ... get some pics on Mel.

Here are a few pics of the HW One P I got yesterday and am now totally besotted with. There is nothing I dislike about this bass, and loads of things that I adore. Delighted is well and truly an understatement. P basses are the way forward from this day ..... here he is and with my HW One Jazz
Well done Deb, don't spend too long away from Mr Gilmour now Enjoy, Cheerz, John
Will definitely enjoy and it's impossible to be away from DG for very long. Bet you can guess what name is in the short list for the bass

Well done on pushing your boundaries. I've got myself a great teacher who is going to troubleshoot stuff with me. We've decided that if there's something I want to work on be it an aspect of theory, technique, song etc he will help as and how I want. Is there anyone local that could help you in a similar way? Good luck and keep us posted. Deb

Happy Friday! I got a Precision today and well .... I get it, completely get it. From the moment I began tuning it, I just got it . In the space of four short months I've got myself a jazz, a precision and a fretless bass and the difference in each of them is just perfect. I've bought a HW One Precision that is perfect company for the HW One Jazz - pics tomorrow once there is more favourable light . I am totally happy with this purchase (via here of course), the bass is in great condition has flats on so no need to rush out and get strings tomorrow. I shall now officially be a recluse unless I'm going to visit SpaceChick or the local music shop / gig or bass related outing. What a start to the weekend. I've two NBD's in two weeks. I won't be this lavish very often but I could certainly get used to it. x 1000. Deb

That is a very sexy bass. Can understand why you want to keep this one. Gorgeous indeed.
I'm actually about to do the opposite - I'm probably getting rid of my fretless because I just cannot seem to get away from all the cliches inherent to the instrument & I'm just really bored of that sound.
Ooooooh, what might you be getting rid of Rhys? Just wondering if I could help in any way...

I love playing my fretless bass. It just feels more natural to me. I suppose its because I started off playing a double bass a long time ago. "Home" is playing an unlined, fret free neck. Who needs 'em? Well that would be me when I see a P bass that catches my eye! Enjoy.

Dare I say it.... I think I've finally settled on a bass
No you won't be, you'll just think of something else you want! It's what we all do!!
I know you are right so I'm in the best of company. If I can afford one and there's room here then there's no reason why not to. My dogs can't really object . Here's to healthy obsession . -

My strategy is to add a USA P bass and an electric upright to my current basses and I believe I will be satisfied .... -
I don't think it's going to work though....... Almost bought a limited edition Hoffner Jubilee for £650...... Probably get a Hagstrom Viking next to see what it's like playing blues, probably a sunburst Hoffner............ And when I'm rich and famous, a Ray, Gretsch, Rickie, .and Jazz........ So I'll probably end up skint
But at least you can plan for your future .... there are no nasty surprises when you are aware of your tendencies -
I bought some Rotosound Jazz flats last week and I'm very happy with them.
Ive needed to learn my setlist of 26 songs in a week!!! I have cheated.... Root notes for several, and working on 2-3 tracks a week to make them more interesting/authentic
Jeez they're getting their money's worth out of you Debs! Well done for already being the most dedicated member of the band.

Great news Mel. Keep the pressure off yourself and stash that cash.

Not bought a bass from Paul but I now have his Sonorous fretless bass - if you're in doubt about buying one of Paul's basses, I only have one thing to say. Don't be. This bass sounds wonderful, has huge amounts of sound, wonderful tone and is truly alive. Thanks Paul for your brilliant work.
