GAS improves you as a player, it's a well known fact. That's what I tell myself
Always room for improvement!
By the way, I didn't mean to offend with this... I wasn't assuming you couldn't set it up yourself, just saw that you just took another bass to a shop, and they charge way too much IMHO...

Certainly wasn't offended in any way - it's a brilliant offer and will def take you up on that! Milk and one sugar please (or ice cubes and a slice of lime )

I say go for it and don't think about it too much Afterall more basses gives you more options of what to play (and shiny new things are always good )
Yes I agree and I've just looked at your gear list . Great minds eh Jackers
Yes Deb if it's a Highway One - just buy it - they're quality, this 2003 I got recently is superb! Hope this helps your GAS
Gorgeous - this is just stunning. I have a black HW Jazz that I adore .... needless to say a black HW P would balance things up nicely
-
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! How could you do this Highwayone ??????? I have practiced a new song, booked a lesson and even thought about COOKING tonight just to distract myself and then I come on here and see this? Too much promise on page 3 today . I will PM you ......
I recently had this with a USA P-bass. I gave in and it arrived today After playing it for the last hour I can easily say it was one of the best ideas I've ever had haha.
Jackers .... it's these darn P basses. . Glad you jumped in and made the right choice.
Haha, i know the feeling. i woke up Sat morning worrying about paying some bills, by late afternoon i had brought a new camera lens lol. Get some new strings, something different and put them on the HW-one. That will give you a newish tone and may help with the GAS, and save you some money.
Tried all of that ... picked Marcus (that's what I call my bass which was Dave's old one) up last night from having a set up done. Guy in the shop said the person who did it played and said that he was "f*****g amazing". Plays like a dream. Still want MORE! Well done for not following your own advice! Hope your lens does all you hope for Dave!

I'm enjoying all of the words of gentle encouragement from many of you .......
I have a six-month 'cool-off' period. If I still want it after that, then it's worth serious consideration. So far, very few GAS attacks have lasted anywhere near that long
6 months! That shows incredible strength ... not sure I will last anywhere near that long. Well I am sure that I won't
Told ya it would happen if you hung around long enough ;-) Dont resist it, you cant fight the inevitable lol..
Dave - I am struggling and losing ground by the minute. My determination is really working against me here .

Hello and welcome from another Fender fan. Hope you are loving your new bass .

Learning the bass guitar with smaller hands/fingers
debwilliams replied to LesDong's topic in Bass Guitars
I'm another one with child sized hands - I've got a Fender Jazz and find that it is a case of having to move lots around instead of stretch elegantly between frets. Just work with what you have and practice seems to be the way forward guys! I was pleasantly surprised last week to have a quick go of a MIA Precision and didn't find the neck the same size as a house brick, I really didn't think I'd be able to cope at all but it was much more manageable than I expected (i.e just as much of a stretch as the Jazz ) Deb -
Back to work for a while ..... Keep 'em coming. I need your support. Either way!
-
Luke ... this is the kind of help I need. It's not easy being impetuous at times! Cheers sensible friend

I have absolutely no justification other than "I want that" .... It's just lust. Pure and simple. A strong driver all the same.

Precisely the case sista

I need help ... Being a very driven, focused and determined person I am no stranger to making decisions about seeing something I want and going out to get it. I've seen Precisely what I want but cannot justify it any way. This is making me want it even more! HELP!!!!!!

Brilliant news! Very happy for you. Go and rock yourself ragged xx
Arranging our own evening sounds a good idea..... maybe time for a South Wales bass bash As you know the venue, could you get an idea when the function room is free? maybe a weekend would be easier for people to make (unless they have a gig?) Maybe even the daytime on a weekend? Although I'm fairly flexible
Bashing sounds very good, I'll say yes to this. Count me in .

The "Welsh Fenderbird" Mk 2 - a quest for perfection.......
debwilliams replied to Shaggy's topic in Build Diaries
Sin City ..... you Lord of Darkness !!!!! -
Exactly the same from me - something of a baptism of fire! I loved it but was very glad that he finished with Blast so I felt a bit more comfortable . I now listen to Renaissance and love it so clearly I enjoyed it LOTS! Shame we didn't get a chance to say "Hi" . Did you go to the hotel to see Marcus and his band play after the gig? Deb

debwilliams replied to Shaggy's topic in Build Diaries
Very nice work Shaggy - but I assume you must be gigging out of our local area as Swansea has NO dodgy venues whatsoever . The Welsh Fenderbird is pretty catchy .
