1. Thank you. I tend to be quite "busy" in general so sonething calming would be generally good.
 2. Thanks so much, really appreciate your feedback. I'm playing with the track at regular speed so I'm really having to give it some to keep timing as it should be. I should use Audacity or similar to slow it down to give myself a better chance I guess. It's a song I adore along with all things Floyd so I want to get this nailed. Cheers guys x
 3.
I have the terrible habit of holding my breath when I'm concentrating. I didn't even realise until bandmates pointed it out. Though it's fairly obvious when your head has gone purple after a long technical piece. Sometimes I chew my tongue too, which used to get me into trouble at school where chewing gum was banned.
Chew your tongue ??? Sounds horribly painful! I'm just trying to imagine a line up of gurning bassists
 4.
practice. then you won't find it as difficult and will relax. That or glenfidich
I'll do both of those - I'm hoping that it will work just as well with Gentleman Jack / JD or Jamesons? Many thanks
 5. I've begun to notice that when I'm playing things that are more challenging I'm holding tension in my jaw. I was playing tonight and was really aware by the end of it that I was closing my jaw very tightly shut after concentrating for what seemed like eternity - it was in reality only for 6 minutes and 23 seconds Anyone share my pain?? Have any suggestions how to sort this out or just how play Floyd's Money perfectly without breaking my jaw? Cheers Deb
 6. Oh no! Hope you get a reliable replacement soon.
 7.
You've got a deal Deb, I'm sure with our non stop chatter whenever we get together, I'll be singing and playing in no time
Say "Gilmour" and I'll find a way to talk. Just Keep Talking
 8.
Well today I have been trying these techniques, I can now talk and hold a conversation with most of my baselines, and have managed to sing with a few songs, my tuning sometimes goes a bit out on my vocals but I've certainly moved on a bit. There are some songs I think I will NEVER be able to sing and play bass too, but there are some that I think I may. I shall keep practicing I've got a little bit of time, we've needed to put back our first gig as our lead guitarist has been on the NHS waiting list for an operation, and he received the letter today saying he needs to go in on Tuesday!!!! He will probably be out of action for about 2 months. So we've had to pull of of the charity gig we were meant to be part of in two weeks.
Debs - hope the op goes well for him. He's a brave guy with one heck of a positive outlook. I watched the clip and it's great - it is quite a challenge to try and talk while playing bass. Many a man's dream I guess! A woman who can play a bass and is mute . Any time you want to catch up, you know where I hide . We can practice our limited capacity for speech - just imagine the (lack of) conversation

 12.
Been at practice tonight, just got in. I LOVE it, it's sooooooooo much fun We may have a gig really soon
Front row seat please!
 13. My dogs (greyhound and jack russell) come and lie right next to my amp when I'm playing. They are both asleep on their bed, I'm not playing loudly as the kids next door are in bed but even when I do turn things up they choose to stay very close. I love it.
 14. I just tend to look at bass covers and use them either if I need some help playing something or to just compare how I'm doing with others. Some very talented people out there and also some at the other end of the spectrum so there's something for everyone! Deb
 15. If you have a look at gig guide in the Thursday edition of the Evening Post, there are lots of open mic nights advertised in there - there's lots going on every week. Also, lots of smaller pubs have regular open mic nights that aren't advertised that you can go and join in with. I went to one a few week back (observed) in the Plough in Brynhyfryd that's held on the last Thurs of every month - regular band is The Barrow Boys. The drummer is brilliant, guy called Peter James. There's one on the first Weds of each month in the Bryngwyn just outside Llanelli. That one is bit country and western for me but the band are a great bunch and always try and pleasantly bully me into taking my bass along. Not sure I want to play along to "Grandma's Feather Bed" but they do other stuff as well . Chris plays bass, he's great. You feeling ready to take the plunge?
 16.
Never too many Precisions anyway :-)
Steve!
 17. I find your bass family pic very inspiring. I only have two ... I must try harder! A very nice collection you have there.
 18. Debs ... How have I missed this??? Too much Floydery going on in my life at the moment methinks. So glad you've got this nailed and that the unfortunate has been despatched. We can catch up on our road trip on Saturday! Keep kicking ass feisty bird x
 19.
Oh lord...this cries for a joke, but i try to resist
It would brighten up an otherwise very drab Wednesday !!
 20.
I saw! Yours is a thing of beauty, it's a look that you can't fault. I understand the feeling completely, so much so that I think mine can have my bed and I'll sleep on the couch now
Why, thank you . Now what are you drinking? The first round is mine . My basses are on permanent display in my living room not just because it makes them easier to get to when I feel like it but simply because I love to see them ... all the time. I'm sure we can get a whip round for an inflatable mattress for you .. the sofa will be no good for your lower back
 21.
At last, I can join the ranks
Hey! I've just joined the ranks here too. So glad that I have. Very, very nice bass you have there.
 22.
Interesting, the way you describe the bass, it is absolutely how the bass sounds. If you choose this bass for a gig, you can absolutely trust that you can rely on her blindly. This is like excalibur
It was just an absolute "yep, I know how this bass is" kind of thing. No way could a red jazz bass (not knocking jazz basses, I have one!) or a jaguar etc give the same feeling as this does. Mellowed, with strength and assurance. She is spectacular.
 23.
So as promised, my latest P bass.(1968 Lollypop Tuners) In the year 1968 a german female bass player, who was born in the UK bought this precision bass. She did some Rock`n`Roll in the 70s and some Rockabilly also available on Vinyl in the 80s and some Blues Rock. With getting an older lady, she wanted, a lighter more comfortable bass for her to play, So she bought a Steinberg paddle and this P bass stayed well suited in an suitcase, sometimes played on sundays, when the bass lady has the desire for this special tone. For nearly 20 years. Now the lady decided to sell her "old companion" as the bass is called by her and the bass found her way to my hands. This bass is a holy grail and has everything what you ask for the best p bass you can imagine. the sound is so full and warm, so deep and rich of music, with sustain for ages. I am in love
Might seem a strange thing to say but this bass seems very grounded / solid and oozes "I can" in a subtle way. This is very attractive in people too! I love this and can see why you are enthralled.
