1. Ah Dave! Great news . Your old bass is very much loved and is now named Marcus . Have sent you a PM. Deb
2. Thanks again - I will most definitely be back to ask for guidance if I do decide to add anything to this combo which Thomann have have promised to deliver on Tuesday . I really appreciate all of your comments - cheers all x
3. Here's mine - recently bought off this forum and looking very much like Dave's old HW. If it is, I guess it's a small world! Deb
4.
Looks like a good buy & you can add another cab if you need to for gigs. One thing that seems to be a bit misleading is "2 parallel speaker outputs - to use with 2x 8 ohms bass cabinets or 1x 4 ohms bass cabinet". I believe this would only be the case if you are to disconnect the internal speaker (which is probably 8Ω) as I don't think the amp will run at 2Ω. So when you are adding a cab, do check in the manual what it will take to save overheating.

Nice choice Deb, and good value. Still undecided myself. Too many options I think and they just keep coming Last time I ordered anything large from Thomann it took less than a week and the comms from the carrier were excellent. Andy
Thanks both Andy - the comms from Thomann have been great, just hope the delivery is as good and I will have no complaints whatsoever. Cannot fault them at all in terms of emails acknowledging my order and letting me know item has been despatched (in record time). Hope you get yourself the bargain of the year very soon XGSJX - Wow, bit too techy for me! When I spoke to Ashdown they did say that I could add a cab but I have absolutely idea about the other stuff you've added. This is where I need guidance from you guys. At the moment my audience comprises of a jack russell and a greyhound so I don't think I need to be worrying too much about larger gigs for a quite some time .I'll give you a shout when my moment in the sun arrives Thanks again . Deb
5. Hi Neil Thanks very much for your input. I've finally made a decision AND placed an order at last! I decided not to go with GK as most of the stuff I listen to doesn't have the GK kind of tone so I've decided to get an Ashdown. I couldn't decide which so I called them and they were very helpful. Given my budget (wanted to spend £250 max), the fact that a warranty was important to me plus I wanted to be able to use the amp should I want to gig in the future the suggested that one I'd seen on the Thomann website would be ideal. It's one of their MAG combos that Thomann bought in bulk so has been given a different model number. This is it http://www.thomann.d...own_t15250s.htm I appreciate I've lost out on the lightweight advantage of the GK MB112 but I'm happy with my decision (so far!) so all I now need to so get the amp delivered and to be able to play like Guy Pratt once I get plugged in . Hope you are delighted with your choice - enjoy Many thanks once again Deb
6.
3. Bestride the world of bass guitar players as a behemoth of tone 4. Know that you have done the right thing
I shall adopt this approach - seems pretty good to me
7. Thanks for the heads up on the email lessons - I'll def take a look. There was a slight accident here last night, the glass shelf on my tv unit shattered. Might be time to adjust the volume when I'm practising , I did have a laugh though . I might get some face to face lessons, think it's a good way to start after such a long break. Sure is a minefield looking for amps (especially when they can cause domestic devastation!) Deb
8. Thanks very much for the welcome. I will keep an eye out as I'm so delighted with the ultra gorgeous bass I bought via this forum . I've not picked up a bass for 20 odd years (prev played a double bass) so I'm now well and truly hooked once again. (The practice exercises in the "Teach Yourself" book and DVD are flippin awful!) I've borrowed two amps (a Laney RB3 and an old Fender) so I'm spoiled for choice but want to get something sorted pretty quickly. Many thanks once again
9. This is the perfect thread as I'm looking for exactly the same thing. I've narrowed down (I think ) to this combo based on good reviews of the GK brand and MB115 model and the incredibly light weight of the range. https://www.thomann.de/gb/gallien_krueger_mb112.htm I've just bought my first bass from this forum but don't want to buy two amps (a practice amp and then another one should I decide to gig). I've also looked at similar used ones and see that they hold their value well so I'm quite wary of spending around the £150 - £180 mark plus fuel costs or carriage and then having no warranty. I have absolutely NO experience of this kind of stuff so I'd really appreciate your comments. Thanks
10. Bought by me - it's GREAT and Freddie doesn't look 75 at all
11. A huge bargain for someone, there was one of these for sale in a music shop I visited today at a price nowhere near this. If you're tempted, grab it!
