1. Hi John, hello and welcome from another newbie
2. Hi Ahmad
3. I guess you're happy then Dan . Very glad you're happy with your purchase.
4. Hi & welcome. I'm sure there'll be loads of people who can help you with your amp question. Enjoy!
5. Congratulations - great news.
6. Hello Hello Rhys and Peaty - thanks for saying Hi. Nice update Debs. You've had a great day by the sound of it. Will be good to hear how it goes tomorrow! No complaints about being made to feel welcome since you've posted this thread on here. Nice crowd on here, thanks all.
7.
It's not very often i see Morriston on a post, Anywhere ! lol.. i know cos im from there, little ole world eh ! Welcome and stick at it, bass is a great instrument and a lifetime of creativity and learning (and far more interesting than their six stringed cousins imo shhhhh...)
Thanks again for your welcome. I was so surprised to see another Deb had joined, had started playing recently and was quite local to me. Even more unexpected to find another forum member hails from Morriston! I had a night out there a few months ago when myself and friend went to see a band playing in Woodfield Street, it was something of an experience but a great laugh.
8. Hey - liking the numbers here Evil Undead!
9. Hi Seashell and thanks for your warm welcome. You sound as if you've very much enjoyed your lessons and I'm sure I will too. I'm off work for a few weeks as I'm not very well so I've not booked anything as yet but I will do so very soon. At the moment I'm picking my way through a few songs I like and enjoying that. It was a very odd feeling when I first started to "play" (that really is the wrong word) my bass as I haven't felt that incompetent at anything for a very long time but it's getting better. I'm picking easy things and work on playing them well before I move onto anything thing else. I do find it odd to play standing up though . Clearly this was a nice forum to find and no doubt I'll there'll be plenty of laughs along the way
10. Great Debs, Morriston is less than 10 mins from me so good to know there's recommended tutors on the doorstep. Cheers! Hope your lesson goes well, will look forward to your update. Discreet, thanks for your welcome.
11. Thanks Bluejay. I played double bass a long time ago so I have something of a start. Lessons are great though, personal feedback is always good and it's so easy to get into bad habits. Great idea to enrol on a course, hadn't considered that - thanks for the heads up on that.
12. Thanks Kiwi and yes, def up for a a meet up if there's enough interest. Debs, who have you booked a lesson with? I've been given a few names but always good to have personal recommendation. Not sure I really want to be classed as a grown up though .....
13.
yep, travel up to Cardiff to see Jon
I'm west of Swansea so it's a 100 mile round trip to Cardiff for me otherwise I'd be seriously considering . Many thanks though
14. Hi Debs and welcome. I'm Deb, also from South Wales, just got my first bass/amp . I've been going through lessons on this site http://scottsbasslessons.com/ thanks to a recommendation via this forum. It's very nice to have a local forum neighbour! Deb
15. Great news. I've recently got my first bass but used to play a double bass a long time ago. I have a very sneaky feeling that in the not too distant future I'll get an EUB as I think that early grounding will always be with me. You're going to have loads of fun. One weird thing though. When I played DB, I used to play with the bass resting against me and my left leg up on a chair. All fine in a youth orchestra but now I find I want to play my bass standing up, with my leg resting on something ..... one habit I must find a way to break before it becomes too permanent . Hope you have a fantastic weekend and er, good luck with the gerbil .
16. Any recommendations for the Swansea area?
17.
It's funny Deb but I was almost ready to order a GK MB112 as well but I'd never heard one so went to try the Ashdown's instead. Glad I did!
Faultless thinking there - "great minds ..." and all that Deb.
18.
Mags are nice amps esp with jazzes and precisions nice tone!
Cheers Dan I'm really happy with my first bass and amp (have a Fender Highway One Jazz) so I now just need keep up the practice and get going
19. I just got my first amp and it's a MAG 300 EVO II combo - love the sound, certainly loud enough for my audience which is made up of my two dogs. I did take a while to decide which amp to get but I'm glad I didn't jump and get the first one I considered (it was a GK MB112) as the Ashdown sound is far more in keeping with the type of music I listen to. I posted on another thread that I didn't get the amp I was expecting when I ordered this one from Thomann, but it's all good . Hope you remain as delighted as you currently are! Deb
20. Thanks for your reply -it does say that it has a built in compressor.. When I called Ashdown just before ordering I mentioned that I was considering the amp I ordered or the Mini Stack. The guy I spoke to discussed both types and said that Thomann had bought in bulk some of their MAG combos. What I didn't expect to receive was an amp that reads T15-250S Limited Edition on the front yet still has its original MAG 300 labelling tied to the top. I've played again today and messed around with different settings and love this amp so no matter what it's called, I love the sound and price. Nice one Thomann / Ashdown - happy days indeed
21. The amp arrived in pretty good time considering the Bank Holiday (grrrrrrr ) and I LOVE IT . Just a little confusion though, I amp I ordered was the Ashdown I mentioned above http://www.thomann.d...own_t15250s.htm but when it arrived, the tag on the amp read " MAG 300 EVO II Bass Combo" . I'm not complaining of course ..... I am definitely happy with my choice. Glad you're happy with yours too, hope the rain stayed away for your audience to appreciate your amazing sound
22. Congratulations on the new arrival . My new Ashdown amp arrived yesterday and I'm also very happy with mine - big thumbs from me too
23. I went and loved it. It was the first time I'd seen MM and would have usually have been the first to have stayed until the bitter end but I was feeling pretty awful and thought it best to get home as soon as ticketed event finished. Shame I missed the extra special show at the hotel and that I didn't get the chance to meet up with an BC'ers - will pay attention to threads like this in future. Seems that we all had a great time - cheers Marcus and your amazing band x
