1. No problem, and thanks for getting back to me. Good luck with the sale!
2.
I forget how talented Jack Black is on a regular basis.
In fairness, it's easy to forget considering the amount of crap he's done since I think he's great in Tenacious D and the like, but the more serious and kids movie sides don't do a lot for me.
3. Hi. Would you be willing to sell the cab on its own? Cheers, Paddy

6. Hi. If still available, I'll take for the asking price. Cheers, Paddy
7. I contacted the seller in the auction I mentioned above asking what happened. He immediately wanted me to make an offer. I hope the real winner leaves genuine feedback.
8. The same thing happened last night with something I was watching. An auction for a P Bass Body and neck was pulled with about 15 mins to go. The price was still low and the seller obviously panicked. Again this wasn't an ebay newbie, they had a feedback score of over 400. This really defeats the purpose of ebay for me.
9. I just bought a transcription book from Mark. Good communication, quick delivery and book was well packed. Overall, great to deal with. Cheers, Paddy
10. Maybe it would be better to rename the thread The Hidden Cost of Ordering from Foreign Online Retailers. Seems a bit unfair to single out Thomann, and it might encourage others to buy locally. Luckily I have Irish and UK accounts, so can get around this a bit! Although transferring from UK account to Irish can cost a few quid, while Irish to UK transfers are free.
11.
Here are some more pictures of each bass with some of the case candy from each era..... 1982 Fullerton '57 reissue,
Just lovely! I had a later 80s 57 AVRI and it had yellowed just the same as this. Out of interest, is this blonde or white? You really mind your gear by the looks of things. Just great!
12.
Now, how do I break the news to the wife!
Here's one prepared earlier..... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/216445-best-way-to-tell-the-wife-ive-just-bought-a-new-bass/ BC delivers on all fronts
13. If we're thinking of the same ad, it's not the seller who made the comment, but somebody admiring the bass. I do agree with the OP about these type of comments though. It seems to be popular to knock late 70s and early 80s Fenders. Probably an easy and, according to many in the know, fair target, but I'd love to know if those who comment have actually played any of the basses they knock.
14.
It was me boys and girls. I too assumed it was a RW, from the tuners and checking. Either way I was after a jazz for a project or backup anyway. Unfortunatly the seller sent me a message stating he forgot to put a buy it now price on it, and is no longer for sale. My guess someone has offered him a lot more than what it finished on, or he wanted more than what it went for. Something doesn't smell quiet right so I'll be contacting eBay with this.
Sorry to hear that, what a plonker! I hope you can get something sorted. Given his feedback score of over 300, you'd think he'd know how ebay works. Hoepfully risking this 100% feedback might make him change his mind.
15. Me neither. Despite saying I'd watch with interest, I presumed the auction ended this evening and didn't pay any attention I've a few more important purchases coming up, but at that price it was a steal, and I would have happily taken a punt!
16.
I'm a bit confused . He says it's a 70's "repro" and calls it a Road Worn. How can you tell if it's one of the legendary Mex Road Worns, or it has just been towed 150 miles up the M6?
Comparing the photos he has with some on a Google images search, it looks to have the correct generic aging of the Roadworn Jazzes. Also, the aged tuners and the checking on the back of the headstock look to be correct. The fact that he labels it a '70s repro rather than the '60s Classic Series might suggest he doesn't know what he has. I'll watch this one with interest
17. Ah ok. I can't really pick up any of that on the mobile. What you describe sounds odd. You'd really need to have your wits about you!
18. Granted I'm looking on a mobile, but it looks alright to me. What are you thinking is wrong?
19.
That wa the first thing I learned to play on bass, but only the famous bit at the end. The first actual song I learned was Bowie's John I'm Only Dancing, because it was in the copy of Bassist I had just bought.
Me too with the famous bit from The Chain! Well either that or Lounge Act by Nirvana. Lounge Act was the reason I picked up a bass, but I think the guy I bought the bass off showed me The Chain before I bought it. I then plugged the bass into my dad's hifi at home....very quickly blowing the speakers!

21. Watching this with interest.... Will it get pulled, will someone grab a bragain or will the heavy hitters come in when it's getting close to ending??
22. No ideas, but I feel your pain! It happened to me a few times since I moved the UK. The £8 fee is a joke. My future US purchases will be sent to Ireland first and then to me here. The extra postage won't come near £8.
23. I recently brought an Ampeg PF-500 back from the US to Ireland in a laptop case - no problems. 10 years ago I got stung bringing a bass back. It was spotted immediately and didn't even make it to the luggage carousel!!
24.
There used to be a form of fraud on ebay. People would pay for collection only items by paypal. They would go and collect the item. Upon returning home, they would open an 'item not received' case. The seller would be asked to provide proof of delivery, which they couldn't, and the buyer would get refunded. They'd then have the item, and the money. I don't know to what degree this actually happened, but it was certainly discussed a lot in the ebay community. I've only ever paid for a collection only item by paypal once. And that was a simple mistake on my part.
Oops....took too long to type my post!
25.
Paypal is used because it's a safe form of payment. If I did a lot of stuff on eBay, or even just the odd "collection only" sale, I'd want to be paid by paypal too.
I don't think you'd want to be paid by paypal as a seller of a collection only item. There have been cases where collection only buyers have fraudulently taken and won paypal cases due to there being no proof of postage/receipt.
