1. And to answer the question, I always leave satisfied from the Bass Merchant. Even if he hasn't got a bass in I'm after, we still have a great chat and he always has time for me. He also gave me a tour around the workshop - extremely interesting!
2. Mike Walsh at the Bass Merchant (makes Iceni Zoot basses) is based in Witham, Essex (CM7). He will endeavour to get what you're after, he's got a superb high end selection of amps, cabs and combos (Markbass, EBS, Ampeg etc) and a fair selection of basses - recently he sold me a superb Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string w/ Aero pups & East pre at a very reasonable price! WELL WORTH A VISIT! In my experience he can pretty much beat any price. He gave me great deals on MB gear.
3. I saw it but wasn't really interested. It was quite a quick auction, if I recall.
4. It's looking great, Entropic. Can't wait to read a review. What sort of music do you play? When you go to pick it up, is there any chance of you taking any snaps of mine (if you're taking a camera of course!)? If so I'll drop you a PM with my details. Regards Mike
5. Wow!! Looks superb - congratulations. The silver knobs look great with it too. Can't wait til you get your clammy paws on it !!
6.
Have Nordstrand given any reason for the delay? You've had a hell of a wait for them. Did Jon say how much the cases would be? Cheers Pete
Not really, no reason. Not sure when Jon ordered them though. I had specified them from day 1 though! I don't know how much the cases are, sorry!
didn't relize jon was getting his own branded cases, who's making them Hiscox i take it?
Sorry Bassmonster - pass. Not sure!
Hi Mike I'm waiting on a set of Big Singles for my new Shuker too. I got word from both Jon & Stew at Nordstrand that the pickups have now shipped, so Jon will get them this week. Cannae wait .... Jon reckons 3-4 weeks after the pickups arrive my bass will be ready. I've held back posting build pics for now as it's going to be my "showbiz" bass. Red sparkle with matching block inlays for a start, designed to match the drummer's red sparkle kit. Hehehe ...
That sounds frickin' awesome! Totally different! Can't WAIT to see it !! Do you not have a build thread?

8. I second that, Mike Walsh will go above and beyond to be a really A1 retailer. Much kudos here, I do as much business with him as possible!
9. Looks bloody magnificent Mark. Mine has yet to be routed & sprayed. So it looks like you've won this battle! I guess we'll need to have another custom built some other time!
10. Well, still waiting. Jon has not received the pickups from Nordstrand yet (it's been a ridiculous wait!) so it's not routed or sprayed. Taken a fair bit longer than I hoped. The only good news is that I might get a Shuker embossed case rather than a normal Hiscox one, as they will be ready soon!
11. Yeah, I think you're right to a ) be suspicious and b ) at least consider it's legitimacy, but I think with anything that sounds dodgy, just kick it to the kerb!
12.
Not sure if this is the right place or not, but I'd like to ask if there's any J-Retro users who currently don't have it fitted to a bass, who wouldn't mind contributing their specimen for a short term swap with my Audere jazz pre amp?? I like the Audere, it's very powerful, but I'd rather not spend the moola on a J-Retro just to try it and find I don't like it. Here's a pic of the Audere and a link to their website. cheers D.
Nice Idea - maybe you would both be able to write a short review with your thoughts? I had a J-retro in my 1975 Jazz, but eventually made it passive again. I'd be interested to see what the audere was like. Regards Mike
13. How incredibly annoying, and rude. What did you say to her?
14. Yeah I've noticed. But I took it to be like this; I have just bought a Warwick Streamer, so I'm only noticing them now!

17. Thanks for all your excellent contribution. I think before buying anything I will try with existing headphones and earphones to see what it's like. I'm pushing the band toward wireless in-ear monitoring, so I've also made a thread about that in OT - feel free to proffer your experience and thoughts there. Thanks again gang - please keep it coming though!
18. Whoa, looks ace. What happened to the Black P?
19. Thanks for your thoughts. If that's the case, Dood (Using earphones as your stage monitors would be very good though.) then why don't more people do it?
20. No Mustang Sally yet?? Bane of my bloody life!
21. Great post. Thanks BOD2, appreciate your input.
