Ahh not much more than an MXR BEF, but much cheaper than a 3 leaf proton.

The Fender Nate Mendel It has a slimmer neck/thinner nut But still is quite fat and deep at the back. I believe it was known as a "B" Profile, a lot of people love it, but I wasn't keen.

I'm now waiting for NJE to start an Octave and Chorus thread 😁

That looks really cool! Almost a Mutron "light" I'd miss the downsweep though. Will still be an expensive piece of kit though.

Lovely Basses Mick! I look forward to the patter of tiny strings 😂

Lol!! I know mate, you're right. I'm really surprised I've not picked one up. I've a couple of mates, that have had one and they sounded fantastic.

Yeah a very dirty filter, no downsweep, but sounds great in demos. Definately on my want list.

Lovely board! The Diamond is a great comp and I loved the Boss Bass flanger 😁

Just going on filters with up/down sweep (The MXR bass Envelope filter,is a must try, but only does upsweep) so won't include the few I've had with just up. I had the Discombobulator (V2) for a while, and i must admit i was disappointed. I found it to be too subtle for my tastes. It has a nice bubbly tone, but doesn't have that dirty squelch. I also had noise issues with mine, it kept making a weird whistling sound when daisy chained in a power supply(or indeed near). The Down sweep was incredibly noisy too, I just couldn't use it. Note these issues went away when I plugged it in on its own, also at the time I wanted to use it as part of an Octave/fuzz setup,I think it works better alone. I also had the Bass IQ, I am a big fan of EBS pedals, but was really dissapointed with this. In fairness I was new to filters at the time, but found that the lack of sensitivity control, meant the filter would overload with certain basses. I'd just get this bassy indistinct WHOMP. My favourite for up and down sweep is the original big box Qtron, but hard to find and going for daft money. Huge size and horrible 24v power req aside, it really sucked your tone when bypassed (I'd stick in in a true bypass loop) I loved my old wonderlove and used it exclusively for downsweep, a great filter for synth combos, buy again subtle on its own, despite the amount of control. Having a loop after the envelope detector was fantastic though. Had an VJE Mini MU, which is apparently a very close mutron clone. Loads of control but alas,I could not get a useable sound out of it. I couldn't get it to work with my basses without a huge bassy spike, that nearly took out my cabs. I have to say though, it was the most beautiful pedal I've ever owned, so well made and the colour was called cosmos, which looked purple, but with glittery multicolour sparkles. And the wiring was sublime. It again another filter that was really noisy, with my setup. I've yet to find my perfect filter, but in currently using a few in my source Audio C4, they sound great, but still not for me. I suspect if I ever try a seamoon funk machine, I will fall in love 😂 Hopefully our @BootsyWill be along, he is a filter Guru 😁

I used to be a massive fan, sadly didn't keep up to date with them. Looks like no Jan Kincaid? I loved him. Andrews playing is so soulful and he always used a great tone. His tone in Brother sister turned me around on the fender P 😁

Well don't keep us hanging!!

Yes the fuzz reminds me of a cross between the red ripper and Doom then has that great sub fuzz too. Im very pleased with mine

Left looks like Thomastik to me. The right is smooth like Labella but I think they have blue ball ends. Perhaps someone that Labella make strings for.

I had the Boomstick bottom Feeder (mojo hand 443,with extra bass response) nice little bubbly filter, quite subtle and limited for synth, but a nice sound.

I've never tried this filter! Definately on my "to buy" list id love to hear a demo Ped 😁
-
Cheers Trevor I'd forgotten you had one of these! What you don't know about filters isn't worth knowing 😁

Lol Zombie thread! I had one for a while Stew and regrettably I didn't keep it for long. Its quite a large pedal and takes a lot of power to run. It has loads of parameters to tweak and they all interact with each other and I found it a challenge to dial in a sound a that wasnt a huge WHOMP. That's nothing on the pedal, just my lack of patience. The stop/start frequency works similar to the micro synth and can be set for reverse sounds, It also has the usual sensitivity/attack/decay etc as well as a clean blend. It has a built in distortion which I didn't like, it was mega loud and very grainy sounding. You could reduce the volume with a trimpot inside, but it still massively overpowered the filter sound. Funny How the fuzz on the bassballs is great, they shouldve just used that circuit. Apparently it can get close to the old Qtron but i couldn't get that sound otherwise I would be kept it,despite the size/power requirements. It has thw LP/BP/HP modes too,but we all know that only LP or band pass with clean blend are useful on bass. IF the price were right, I'd have another one, if only to try again to coax out the sounds this unit is apparently capable of. Our own Quatschmacher has owned one of these for a while and he loves it,and I'm certain he'll be the one to talk too to get the best out of it 😁

Cheers Stew Yeah we do mate, I'm ashamed to say I'm a duffer with programming the c4 and rely on nicking the efforts of better men😂 I've only filled up 60 or so slots and still have more sounds than ill ever need. Theres a wonder bass player called Mark Neary (whom I depped for in a band in Newcastle) has created some great patches Ain't nobody/toxic and has all the synth tones from Kavinskys "Night call" which is mega cool. Quatschmacher's patches are excellent too. I have downloaded a meatbox sub patch which I've yet to use to destroy a venue. My favourite patch I found was called "let's Dance" Bowie?? It's a filtered fuzz which was near enough to my prunes and custard for me to let it go. I really need to sort out the sounds though as I'm still finding tweaking them to taste for different basses a pain.

I love It Danny! Such a lot of sounds in a small bombproof box. It has a few internal controls (which id happily have a bigger enclosure, so i could access them). 1 - toggles between sine wave and triangle wave (the LFO on sine is very smooth and great on its own, the triangle is edgy and jagged which is great for gnarly synth) 2 - switch to apply to the full range or only to the higher frequencies, leaving the bottom full (how I have it) 3 -either 4 or 6 stage on slow setting 4 - 8 or 10 stage on the long setting The wide setting is fixed at 15 stages, sounds very spacey and flange like. You also have a preset resonance switch (I'd prefer a knob, but it works well) I have the slow setting at 4 stage and switching between no resonance and low approximates a phase 90 block/script. The others can get very synthy and psychadelic. There isn't a volume drop that I can detect,it is digital so doesn't sound as warm/grungy as a phase 90/ small stone but still sounds nice and deep. I use this a lot after fuzz and sounds huge!
