1. I think so, I'm pretty sure the III is not made in the UK. I thought I read it was made in India though? The only front panel difference seems to be the compressor, and if the jury is out on that then I think I'd rather get a II and a decent external compressor.
2.
If I was you I'd email him direct - he did give his address - and he may not be looking at this.
+1 Geraint is a top bloke, he sent me a new set no questions asked. I haven't actually used the replacements yet though as he also sent me some fancy new Helix SS strings which are now on my Precision. I'll get round to a review soon!!
3. Bump. £100, delivered for an extra £10
4. Thanks for the suggestions guys, the M9 looks quite interesting. Do you know whether anybody makes a Multi-FX which doesn't feature amp modelling and distortions? I'm only considering a multi-fx to cover filter/synth/compression/chorus/modulation etc etc

Big muff advice

It does have a bass boost setting as well remember, try that with the tone past 12. The problem I have with mine is that the toggle switch is broken in that position to I don't have any other option! It really comes in useful for dance tunes though, Tone at about 11:00, sustain at about 1:00 brings out some nice sub frequencies I use it with a Danelectro FAB chorus and it sounds deeper than the abyss itself!
6. Interesting... But I prefer to masturbate at home rather than onstage
7. You'd need the exact same bass, strings, amp, effects, EQ settings, compression, mixing console, playing technique etc etc. I wouldn't bother personally, find your own tone!
8. Hi Guys I'm wondering if there is a multi-fx unit out there with good synth/chorus/envelope filter/delay/octave type features (not worried about distortion/wah) which would fit onto a pedal board. Suggestions below please
9. Based in Penzance so might be a bit of a mission but he's a great chap. Top quality work and the price is very reasonable. http://www.guitardoctor.co.uk/
10. This is where it's handy to have a day job Insurance for my Micra is £660 with Elephant, but paying in monthly installments with the interest it works out at about £800+ so it's still not cheap
11. Kyuss Orange Goblin Bongzilla Goatsnake Slo Burn Slowwwwww and lowwwwww
12. I used to play in a brass band! Euphonium was my main instrument though I spent most of my time there on Trombone (tenor, unfortunately!). I also dabbled in the dark arts of Eb Tuba but I always struggled to get on with the bigger mouthpiece. It's a shame that I never owned my own Trombone though, I could pick up loads more gigs if I owned one - shame I don't have the funds to make the investment
13. Isn't Trace Elliott just a fancy term for muddy plonk? At least that's all I ever managed to get out of them. But then again, they were the amps in the college rehearsal rooms, which are a bit of an amp graveyard. Wouldn't mind trying a Trace properly to get a proper opinion, but I wouldn't hurry out to buy one (even if I had the cash!)
14.
Nice rant but I have to say it sounds like every time I've ever tried to use rotosounds.
Doing it wrong.
15. I saw my favourite at a jam night last night. Two "experienced" (60+) guitarists got up and spent ages puzzled as to why neither of them had any sound - turns out they had plugged their guitars into each other!
16. I went through a phase of installing a pickup cover on my Highway One P. I found it fine for playing fingerstyle, resting my thumb on the cover itself, and it's nice to rest your hand on when playing with a pick. I did find it got in the way when playing more lively stuff though. If I had a second precision I'd kit it out with pup and bridge covers and flats, just for those special occasions
17. I've tried Elites, Ernie Ball, GHS and D'Addario in the past but I always go back to Rotosounds. Worn in 66s, mmmmm.... Recently I've been trying Dean Markleys. NPS Roundcores are good but nobody in this country seems to sell them. After receiving some dud Blue Steels, I've just started using some brand new top-secret, not-yet-in-the-shops Helix HD SS strings (the A and E are also tapered) Review to follow once they're properly worn in
18. I think I speak for us all when I say as a bassist I hate hearing "failed/wannabe guitarist" etc etc. Most. Annoying. Thing. Ever! The guys in my college band actually wrote in their coursework that I should be a guitarist because I play so many fills and licks. WTF??
19.

Looks nice and tidy, is this yours?
20.
Actually I'm the opposite - I find it a bit prentious when people use crotchets, semibreves and quavers. At least when you talk about 8 ths ,16ths etc it means something. Crotchets etc just make you sound like you;ve studied in some classical conservatory in Vienna
I learned it when I started playing in a brass band, aged 10, so it's not as sophisticated as you might think (and nor am I for that matter!). Eighths and things just annoy me because I've always used the proper terms.
21. It annoys me when people refer to "fourths, wholes, eights" etc instead of crotchets, semibreves and quavers. It's not rocket science people! Also the common misconception that he/she can play slap/fretless/tap/pointless fretw***ery - he/she is amazing! "Why don't you play with your fingers?" - Because I'm saving those for your mum! D:<
22. Julyan Wallis - aka the Guitar Doctor. http://www.guitardoctor.co.uk/ He's in Penzance, could pm you his number
