1. Get yourself an MXR-80+ G.
2. Yup, I had that prob a few days ago. G.
3. El Bumpo (that's Spanish y'know!!) G.
4. Yes, I've taken it out since it's so easy. G.
5. I took the opportunity & bought this as The Word on them was Good. And it was. It needed the bridge saddle lifted a little and the edges of the neck smoothed as they were a bit sharp, but that was all, really. I put a set of Status Black Nylons on it, bought a Feedback Buster and a long leather strap, plus the Thomann gigbag for acoustic basses. The nut could be a bit lower but I don't have suitable files, and there may be a wiring issue with the output jack, as it's eaten a couple of batteries in the last 3 months. Shouldn't be difficult to fix. It's been to one rehearsal where I found that we play too loudly for it to be useful. It's been played a total of three sessions. Costs to me were: Bass - £47 Gigbag - £38 Strings- £32 Strap- £23 Plus investment in time to make adjustments & fit strings etc. I'd like £120 plus P&P. I have the original packaging and will use only TNT or UPS. I might also trade. WHY? Would be interested in trade with cash adjustment for a 5-sting Hohner B2A, however, a trade doesn't necessarily have to be another bass. Would be very interested in a trade for a Squier Jaguar 5 string plus cash your way. 7. I do now since, a few years ago, I bought a bass that needed the TR adjusted & when I got it home (a long, long way away) I discovered the truss rod adjustment nut was totally reamed - it was also too far to return. In the end I managed to bodge a fix that worked, but I'm more careful now. G.
8. I use one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIGITECH-DOD-GENESIS-3-GENETX-GUITAR-MULTI-EFFECTS-AMP-MODELING-/201441319194?hash=item2ee6d6991a Lets me plug the PC or laptop into it & play silently along with numbers through headphones. Also still a very useable FX box for live use. I have a 3 and a couple of Mk 1s. MK 1s are cheaper and in some ways more flexible if they turn up. G.
9. I've got the 5 string fretless accoustic and it's pretty decent. However, probably will let it go as, even with a feedback buster fitted, I'm still getting feedback because of the volume we play at. But it's pretty good to play & with Status black nylon strings on is nice & thumpy. G.
10. Nope. G.
11. Isn't there a wooden/carpet covered sleeve available (Ebay)? I've seen a few in passing. G.
12.
...... and already have my balls cut in half ready for this weekends gig.
OUCH!!!!!!!!!! G.
13. My Deco 5 string acoustic is fine, but it's fretless !! Actually all it needed was a tweak of the truss rod and the bridge saddle lifting a smidgeon. I'll probably take the nut slots down a bit soon too. Otherwise, great!! G.
14. Are you sure it isn't a CD INPUT? G.
15. Peavey Cirrus BXP. G.
16. Ebay's 'Sold Listings' indicates somewhere between £350 to £400 depending on condition, case etc. G.
17. Is the pickup very near the strings - especially on the bass side? If so, lower it a bit. Look up 'stratitis'. G.
18. A few years ago we did some recording in an unheated studio starting at 9am and finishing round about 3pm. At no time did the temperature climb above freezing. Oh joy! There's a pic of me somewhere sitting in the corner with a big jacket and a wooly hat doing a garden gnome impression. G.
19.
Peavey Grind BXP. Just thought I'd mention it as no-one else has...
....and Cirrus BXP. G.
20. You're welcome - I heard it when I lived in the East Midlands. G.
21. Interested in chorus - PM'd. G.
22. I've just ordered the fretless acoustic bass at 50 Euros! We'll see what it's like when it gets here. G.
23. Take a look at the Yammy BBG5 or BBN5 basses - they have the smaller Nathan East-style bodies. My fretless is one (N), with RBX365 humbucking pickups. Great value for money. G.
24. It sounds to me that you got a twist in the string when you restrung it - was it really coiled like a pig's tail & you kind of 'firkled' it onto the post? Try taking it off again, straighten out the end as much as possible, let it hang down so any twists come out, then put it back on as near as to a new string as possible. I've come across this a couple of times - when you play it, it sounds like there's a bit of phase or flange on the note. G.
