1. Does anyone know of a forum, or sub-forum which is intended for the discussion of Burns basses/guitars? Geoff
2. I'd use a Dremel & a small wire brush to tart up the pickups, but remove the covers first. I'd be inclined to get a fretless neck rather than defret an original Fender neck, but if you must, use veneer to fill the fret slots, and don't just fill it with Plastic Wood (like I did). I use an old can of Liquid Gold for cleaning up stuff. YMMV. G.
3. I'm not sure what this expression denotes..................... G.

5.
Are you joking? Surely you've just mixed the numbers the wrong way round mate. 110110 what you mean 27? I'm 17 but i do feel a lot older than i am, in a bad way.
Mmmm - I make that 54. I'm 62 in 'Scrooge' mode and about 25 when playing bass....................... G.
6. I've been using Roto 55 Solo's instead of HiBeams - they last ages with me, but then I've a dry hand(!) - anyone else tried them? G.

The physical bass is made & plays more than Good Enough, but the EMG Selects & the pre are not outstanding. G.

11. RD605 - pretty much the same as the RD900 (except for the extra string and the mahogany body - obviously!!! ) This one's up for sale: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=43240 Geoff

13. Here's a nice bass: Ibanez RD605. A few marks, but generally pretty good condition. Nice action. Active. Swap? G.
14.
Yes, I need the dosh to go towards my latest acquisition, but... temptations can be dangled
Mmmm - I don't think my Ibanez RD605 can be called a temptation...........but you never know!! G.
15. We started 1962 in Barrhead, near Glasgow & became 'The Original Corvettes' (www.youtube.com/miller4065 for recordings made in 1963/4 & some pics). We were doing this *before* the Beatles made it!!! The bassist is holding a very rare (300 made) Eko bass & would love to get hold of another. Bassist is still in Paisley, I travel up now & then, rhythm was in Abu Dhabi where I went to hang with him for a week (interesting!!!) and the drummer is in Oz, BUT there's talk of a reunion & doing a gig back where it all started. Pics from 1963. Geoff
16. Yup, I'm 62 and off for an audition for a rock band today, although my other band is middle-of-the-road G.
17. I have an NE-1 and use it almost constantly. I also use an MXR-80+ which is also a pretty handy piece of kit. G.
18. I use something like this (but cheaper): Get one from Ikea & trim (or not) to size, spray black & afix pedals with Velcro or plastic ties. I'm about to make one myself. G.
19. Usually when the rattle is nearer the headstock end, you need to add a little relief. Once you do that you *might* be able to lower the bridges just a tad.... G.
20. I've just taken a set of (well-used) EMG Selects (91, 94mm) out of my B Bass. Might sell. G.
21. I have 2 Digitech effects (Genesis I and a GNX-1) which *both* need an AC-IN and an AC-OUT type of power (*not* DC-OUT). Attaching DC out may or may not cause damage - I did that with the GNX-1 and it looked as though it was powering up, but stalled and it didn't do any damage - but then it was brain-damaged when I got it. I have no idea about a Whammy pedal though, but I suspect it may be as above. When 1 power supply died, I got a replacement from a guy selling supplies on Ebay but I had to email him specifically about the correct model. G.
22. I'm a leather man, myself(!!!): G.
23. Friend bought a Shine 335-type off Ebay - it was OK - it set up well & played nicely but the pickups were thin and the neck was chunkier than I like. I worked on the old-shape Shine Warrior 5 and it too was ok with a chunky neck & weak electrics. New Warrior looks nicer. G.
