Hope no-one minds me asking this here.... There was a bit of marketing hoo-hah earlier this year when fender announced that all the new Am. Stds would have 'Custom Shop Vintage 60's pickups'. Anyone know if this was just marketing or if the pickups became more old-school in tone ? Or, indeed, would a modern (I gather they got a lot better around 2008) Am. Std P have what's considered an old-school tone anyway without the alleged pickup tweak ? Yeah, I know, I should go out and play one ....
Just finished my 'bits P' bass. Basically I was auditioning for a rpck band and needed something with frets, so I popped into my manshed and came up with this: It is nice.
Very cool. I'll have a 5-string version please
Hmmmm ... my first impression is: Solution in search of a problem. I rather like the way the current forum allows completely free-form description (which often tells you a lot about the vendor) and actively encourages "conversation" between vendor and prospective buyers. I suspect this new approach will stifle both of these.
+1
a little "official" rather than the "mates in a pub type" set up currently.
Yeah, I see this as a downside, unfortunately. I think I will miss the banter, particularly the 'I've got one of those'/'I've always gassed for one of those'/'have a bump on me' variety. Unless people start using the 'questions' for that kind of chat of course
Lack of control over the voices on harmony mode (Pure Octave on the way already!), and I just plain don't like the tone of the pitch-shift mode.
Interested to know what you make of the Pure Octave, then.
If you had two amps to choose from, one with two swept mids and hi and low shelving or peaking EQ, the second with a 10 band graphic, if all else was equal which would you choose?
For me, swept mids hands down. Having had a semi-para single band mid pedal for a while, I'm used to the difference between boosting at 600 versus 400. To replicate that with a graphic I'd want 1/2 octave bands from 30 to 1khz ( 11 bands) plus shelving highs. Whereas actually a 3 (or possibly 2) band semi-para (plus shelving highs) would probably completely fulfil my needs as a bass player.
New Blog Post up on Equalisation Enjoy....
Nice. I find the practical advice on which knob to twiddle first particularly useful. I bought a fully parametric EQ pedal a while back, and while I know what each of the knobs does, the combinations of the 3 variables was just too much and I never found it did anything useful for me. I will now tackle it again.
Pitch Box. Not very good in my opinion! Put it straight up on ebay!!!
What was the problem ? (I can guess, but .... )

It's a bit more than scrambled menus ... crazy empty boxes all over the place, displacing real content, whenever you look at lists of threads (e.g. my latest content, forum home). Once you're in a thread ... all looks normal.

Not sure if it's supposed to be fixed right now, but, though it's working, it's looking a bit ropey on iPhone ... need to scroll left and right to read anything. I guess it's still being worked on .... -
Just received am email saying the sweeper and fog are out of stock, should be available again in December.
Probably explains why the new ones all disappeared from the search results.
Is there anyway you could mod the delay pedal to make it a tap tempo?

Somebody on TB opened up one of the analog pedals and talked about modding. In particular, changing a resistor value. He concluded that because they're all tiny (SMD ?) components, modding would be pretty difficult. I would guess the same applies to the digital pedals. (Not sure which delay you mean, I think there are 4 now).
Hmm, I may have to backtrack on that, the only post I can find suggests that though they are all tiny components, the particular mod this guy wanted to do was thought possible. Here are some pics of mooer pedal internals to give you an idea about the component size.
Hmm... just noticed they do a teeny weeny compressor! Anybody got their mits on one yet?
It's only been available for a matter of days so you may have to wait a bit. It's allegedly based on a Boss CS-1.
Yup - even if you add other brands like the Joyo and DrJ pedals then the discount gets applied to the entire order!
Reeeeesult !
-
Makes sense, the older pedals are the discounted ones from the sound of it. I wonder if a mixed order (old and new) would get the discount across the whole order ?
-
Marcmart is now listing all the newest pedals with the exception of the lo fi machine. No idea if the discount code still works with these.
The Hustle Drive has a great tone, but too much low-end loss for me. I could perhaps use it in my split channel setup to resolve the low-end issue, but no real use for overdrive there. Nice pedal, but more for guitar than bass I may see about modding it, but tbh, I have stock pedals that do the sound already. Si
Similar to my first assessment. However I've come to accept it for what it is. It does emphasise the mids but you can set it to keep the same level in the bass and just use it with it's added mids. It's also easy to compensate for the EQ if you're using an active bass. If you reach the conclusion (as I did once) that to use it you need to combine it with an EQ pedal in a loop on an LS-2 (substitute looper of your choice) then you've gone from one pedal to 3 and it doesn't really add up (particularly if you're aiming for a small board like me). If you can find a use for it on it's own, e.g. for me it's a different alternative to my SFX Black Dragon, then it's worth keeping it.
Look what arrived today No customs, and a cool 10 days since ordering! Tests tomorrow
My marcmart order flew in under the customs radar too Interested to know what you think of that one, I have been a bit on/off about it .... currently 'on'.
I appreciate even for these active pedals it's a squeeze for the few transistors
Given all the hardware necessary for a looper (2 extra jacks over and above a 'standard' 1590a pedal) I'm amazed there's any space left for electronics at all Interested to hear what you come up with.
WANT!!
Yeah I'm looking out for one of those, on one of marcmart, dhgate, or wtfaccessories. (I got my Blues Crab, Ana Echo, and Shimverb when the marcmart code was first publicised). DISCOUNT ALERT ! Check the WTF promotions page for discounts on that site. (The mooer code in particular was reported to be working a couple of days ago on TB)

My essentials in priority order: Tuner, Mild overdrive (SFX Red Dragon, VT Bass or Sansamp BDDI), SFX B3 (to tame the highs and mids), Octaver (OC-2 or MXR BOD).
