1.
Nice find! This... this is an ugly strat...
Gorgeous!
 2. Bah missed this by pure minutes. I shouldnt have asked about the action and just offered the money! Rob.
 3. I'll be honest, with the current economic climate. I have doubts you'll get that much money for it. One was up on ebay at a buy it now of around 640 including shipping and was advertised for about 2 weeks before someone bought it. Alot of stingrays are only going for around 500-600 now. I would wait before selling!
 4. The eagle that i had (That shaggy now owns) Has a RRP of just over 3000 quid over here. However it cost me significantly less.
 5. See, I much prefer this with the other neck
 6. Pmed.
 7. Very Unhappy, The basschatter has pulled out even after promising verbally that it would happen. I gave plenty of time for him to make up his mind and still said he wanted it. However has now pulled out. So i have now lost 3 weeks of advertising and feeling like a bit of a douche for trusting that a deal would happen before the cash or bass being handed over. I wont say who the guy is as i am a reasonable man. Anyway. This bass is back up for sale and trade. Open to offers. I am willing to haggle. Looking for, 4/5 string P basses, 5 String J basses (Black only) ,G&L L1000' or similar, Fretted or fretlesses. Musicmans. if i get offered something worth more then this jazz i will glady put money towards striking a deal.
 8. The wording is not explicit, He could mean musicman pickup as in "musicman style" When i describe a musicman style pickup i just call it a "musicman pickup" not "Musicman Style pickup" I'll buy the bass as long as its not got an obvious P rout in it.
 9. I reckon this could be a really nice bass. Can anyone confirm this is a true MIJ fender though? I have never seen anything like this before And never seen it on any Fender website/ Fender Japan. I am really interested in this and want to pull the trigger. But i need to know if its genuine!
 10.
Even though Shockwave's suggestion is as hideous as usual, you should totally do that. Unless someone else wants the gold pickguard I have going.
11. I am not a huge fan of tort guards. Have you thought of anodised gold? Looks really nice with a burst finish!
 12.
Nice. I'm sure you'll enjoy the MSI Wind - it's a great little laptop - I have the Advent 4211 version which is PC World's rebadged Wind. My missus just mentioned that she wants one as well. When I get payment for a web site I completed recently I'll probably buy it for her (but only on condition she runs Ubuntu on it ). If it hasn't been done already on yours, you can double the memory to 2Gb for £12 with a module from play.com.
Technically mine is a Advent 4211! And yes i am already upgrading the Ram this friday Hehe, I cant wait to play some old school games on it Its actually a downgrade from my last laptop, But i hated lugging that thing to and from uni.,
 13.
Thats pretty sweet...I def. would recommend putting two humbuckersin there...would be awesome.
Possibly, However the jazz pups in the bass arent being used to its full extent, I did a little research and those Pups are meant to be used as active ones or with a pre-amp, i am sure they are just being used as straight passives.
 14.
What a journey! cool you got both though! Just noticed it has a fender precision decal, I recognise it as I bought one of the same myself recently. I would take it off and get the right Jazz one. I'm sure I've still got the email/website address of this particular manufacturer (decal) give me a shout if you want too. andy
I think i'll keep it as Precision. It has the Body and neck of a P. Besides this could be a perfect platform for some modding. I was thinking Bridge MM bucker and a 5 string P pup for the neck. I quite like the look of the decal it has now anyway! Cheers.
 15. Hey guys! A bit of a story on my next aquisition. Squier5 had been trying to sell his Green Squier 5 string bass for a while. 100 quid plus SD basslines AND Fender decal? Bargain i felt. However not so much of a bargain that i could afford it! Eventually the bass was sold much to my chagrin, And i forgot about it. Then it came up for sale AGAIN. The original buyer decided it wasent for him. Squier5 bought it back and put it back up for sale and ebayed. I had offered a deposit but was turned down. In a struggle i sold my pink BCR eagle to afford the squier, i was 20 mins too late to buy the squier as someone had used "Buy it now" Drat, that was the last i would see of that! THEN. The buyer of the bass put it up on ebay at around 140 buy it now including postage with a 100 starting bid. Saying it was an impulse buy. Steeper but a possibility. I was also looking at an MSI wind laptop, a mini notebook for uni to take lecture notes. I couldnt afford both. Anyway, I lost the auction to the laptop 20 mins before the bass came out. The bid was at £100 so i thought i would give it a bash. £104 sold! 12 quid shipping. So finally the bass is hopefully on its way to me! Original ad. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...4&hl=squier Ebay auction. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...N:IT&ih=019 It will make an excellant backup bass Imo. Thats not the end of the story however. 10 minutes after paying for the squier i get an email from the seller of the laptop giving me a (legitimate) Second chance offer as the original buyer of the laptop was slovenian and the seller wouldnt send it outside of the UK. I was a bit unhappy because i really needed the laptop and couldnt really afford it after buying the squier. Cheekily I said I would accept and let my fiance pay! She isent happy about it but i have been after one of these laptops for a while. I had to explain pretty quickly why i bought the bass though! Cripes. Roll on student loan day! Rob.
 16.
Is that the one sat in Electric Ladyland presently? Looks great in person.
I think it is. Steve had a transformer knocking around in there.
 17.
If you offer it around for about £250, it'll get snapped up by one of the Status lovers & they'll probably get Rob to refret & refinish it. In fully restored condition it'd be a lovely bass.
yup i would probably offer that much!
 18.
I'll have one last crack at this. For a quick, trouble free straight sale I'll do the SR4 at £570 The Jazz however is withdrawn.
Arrgh, I would really buy the stringray off you but my loan hasent come through, Any sort of deposit maybe?
 19. Is she for sale or trade ?
Hello! Here's mine; This is the signature. 1 of 300, so not particularly common. Black is the other colour scheme. The plus is really only a Yamaha "P" bass. Artist is otherwise the LTD1 or LTD2; AFAIK the LTD 1 is just as the image above depicts save for a Maple fretboard, unpainted neck/'stock, solid red positon markers, and a plain white scratchplate. The LTD 2 is the current incarnation, minus the upper fret scallops. It has solid black position markers and comes in sea foam green or black. The Signature has Gotoh tuners and a Hipshot manufactured DeTuner (as opposed to a licensed one...) I believe the LTD1 shares these, whereas the LTD2 does not, using cheaper parts. The Signature is as above. Generally, it sounds fantastic, but is always better through a rig than headphones/ in ear monitoring. The fundamental output from that Neck HB is huge, but the tone is still well defined. The "P" pick-up is oddly wound, and gives far more upper mid and treble than you'd expect, but can be a bit harsh as there's no tone control wired to it. It won't "sing" like a Jazz, but it will shout down most other passive basses; Precisions, Ricks etc. It does need the right string choice. Mine wears Elixirs at the mo', and they just aren't right for some reason. I reckon some DRs might be a good bet. I think, ultimately, that the slightly compressed sound of a Maple fretboard might suit the bass better that the phenolic does. Good for; Fingerstyle anything Plectrum players Difficult for slap for the reasons already mentioned. It can be achieved with practice, but it doesn't bother me that much. Any more questions? Ask away...
20. See, if you wanted a very simple sound that looks the part, that could not go wrong, i would consider a 51 P bass reissue in Tobacco burst, or butterscotch, Its very fitting for the theatre part and has an excellent sound. Very simple to use, And would sound different to your RBX due to the single coil in the 51. And just switch between the two. I find that a musicman would probably be a bit too much in a theater setting, I havent really been a huge fan of picked stingray sounds (Apart from Jethro tull of course!)
 21. This bass has been sold for a while. Soggs Sold it on Ebay. Pity. Ahh well!
 22.
Just so you know you can get 5 string sterlings (you wont get one for £600-£700 though, nor will you get a bongo for this money), you can also get a sterling with a rosewood board.... As for sound, i find the SR4, SR5 and sterling sound pretty much the same. The bongo is a completely different beast though, i didn't think it had as much growl as the others, but the preamp is stupidly powerful and there's a lot of tonal variation there, i think it's got a 4 band EQ or something?

You also need to factor in that getting your hands on a new Bongo HH 5 is like searching for rocking horse sh*te... and don't even think about having opinions on what colour you would like unless you are willing to wait 3 months
I would love a 5 string sterling! I have found a 5 string stealth bongo H-H overseas for about 600 including shipping and import tax, But hes unsure whether to truly sell.
 23.
I know this is nothing to do with MM, but if you want 5 strings, more versatility than an SR5, have you checked an L2500 out? kinda like SR5's big brother. I am gasing bad for one.
I have, For some reason i just dont like the look of them. They also look quite heavy. Unless i tried one in real life and really like it I probably wouldnt buy one.
