1. + me too, I've played this bass and it has a lovely B string! Flippin heck , I recognise those photos, do I get commission?
2. I can't see any reason for not being there at the moment!
3. Just spoken with Absolute and getting the well regarded Hartke LH500 at the bargain price of £184.13, down from the £249 price before Xmas. Good job I did not look at the thread earlier and at that price my original plan to use it until the LMII is repaired and then sell on could be modified to keep it as back-up. Hopefully it should arrive Tuesday, in time for rehearsal with our new drummer.
4.
I have no gig next weekend so if you get very desperate you can borrow my very under rated and unfashionable but done me well for two years Behringer amp and cab or cabs or I have a 150 watt Trace Elliot combo also if preferred. Tony
Thanks Tony and it was my first thought to borrow: then I thought it would be useful to have my own back-up anyway. However if it does not turn up in time I may be back to you! Thanks keith
5. My Little Mark II packed up on Friday night during the setup before the gig. It made an extremely distorted sound upon switching on, the clip light came on permanently and then no sound came out at all. I have an idea why it went u/s but don't wish to speculate at this stage.... Had to do the gig patched through the PA which was weird with no monitor. Unfortunately I bought it from Playback in France so although it is under warranty expect to be without it for at least 3 weeks. Have decided, after following the Hartke LH500 thread to buy a backup although it is comparativly the size of a small house! Let's hope they have some in stock and can get it to me before next gig on Saturday! P.S. I was tempted to open it up and have a fiddle but did not want any comeback if I could not fix it. P.P.S. Sorry about all the double entendres
6. Looks a bit plasticcy to me................
7. "I think we should just blow up parliament" ............but would'nt that be too noisy?
8. Welcome from another Yorkshire based Bassist, the clue is in the name.....
9. The Google ads at the top of this page say "Bass Cort Guitar at Argos": open the ad and it's an "Encore" WTF is going on, how can they mislead people like this? Ad has gone now but it will be back......
10. I procured Bremen a Merino Wool long sleeved vest (This is actually a new custom shop Bass brand!) Payment came through without a problem along with the promised pint for my trouble. 100% happy with the transaction and he's highly recommended.
11. From the Stagg Thread: Just ordered my Stagg stand. Got it from here http://www.mt247.co.uk/index.html Just type SV-EDB in the Quick Search box and away you go. It cost £42.27 incl VAT and delivery, which is the cheapest I managed to find online.
12. Acoustic Basses are great in theory but rubbish in practice in my experience. Feedback and poor intonation etc etc!
13. Hello near neighbour, I'm quite close by in Baildon. Look out for http://www.myspace.com/idlehandstrio, soon to be quartet!
14.
I do try!!
So you are not a fan then?
15. This is what I had done for the last one, I don't know if it is any help.......?
16. Is it because it is (almost) Jazz.....? I hasten to add we do it in our setlist and my timing is impeccable!
17. I sold one of these in the early 80's for £120.......!
18. Despite my tongue in cheek comment earlier re Dizee Rascal( which no-one challenged), I felt it was one of the better Hoots of the last few years. There again I like female singers so Duffy (perhaps overkill?), Lilly(less so) and Adele rocked my boat although La Lennox was way over the top IMHO. I'm afraid Kelly Jones may think he can sing soul with My Girl, but he ain't got it: to me he sang it like a rock singer with no finesse. Dizee Rascal with the bontempi organ backing was IMHO so out of place it was almost good, the Ting Tings left me cold, a sparkly top does not make a song. Sam Sparro was reasonable, the rest made no impression. Mind I dislike most things of a male rock genre, so anything leaning towards soul gets my vote: Martha and the Vandellas reminded me of Al Green recently on Later, not as good as they were but still better than most of what's out there. To compound my grumpy old man status (now 54), who the fcuk are these celebrities and what do they bring to the party? Al Murray, Lenny Henry, were they meant to be funny? All the above IMHO.........

20. Dizee Rascal was superb, the rest was crap.....
