1. My guys use the Line6 XT Live Absolutely awesome IMO. Does everything they want and a damn sight more too. Has completely removed their need for amps which makes transport a piece of pee.
2. "Bass related things you just can't get rid of..." Ummmm, My sciatica?
3. Sorry, these all sold quite some time ago. FYI - the crossover board enables you to split the signal so you can use one amp to drive your subs and the other the drive your tops. Just makes it more efficient/controllable. Good value solid kit.
4. Geez - didn't know about the backroom. Never used to do gigs in my day. Black Sheep is the main gigging venue in Croydon so worth popping your nose in if you fancy more gigs in the area.
5.
Whay are you asking us? Ask PRS.
But you guys know everything about everything!
6. Firstly, just to state, I'm a big backer of the PRS, and never try to weasle out of paying whats due. However, I've got a question about how much should be paid at a future gig I'm playing which is a mix of originals and covers. The deal in the contract is 2% of sales, and we have to handle arrangements with the PRS. There's three bands on the lineup and all the ticket cash goes in to one pot. There's one covers band and two originals, who are not PRS registered. If we sell £1000 of tickets, then we owe £20 to PRS, but what about the fact that 2/3rds of the songs played aren't covers? Doesn't this mean we're overpaying the PRS? To put it in an extreme scenario... what would happen if we sold £10,000 of tickets, and only played one cover - would we still owe £200, and would it all go to the one artist who wrote the one song we covered? Or is this all correct and its the PRS' way of convincing us to register to get our share of the PRS for the songs we wrote ourselves? Yours truly, Confused of Londinium
7. Best single pedal solution I've found is the MXR Blowtorch, but this has been covered in other threads here in more detail.
8. Should do. The only thing that matters on those pedals is whether the ring or the core (non technical terms) of the jack is positive/negative. In the worst instance it will default to 'on' rather than 'off' and the LED's will be the opposite to normal, but it should still work. Think I ended up taking my amp to the store just to check it. I'll have a root around in the shed over the weekend to see if I can find my marshall pedal. If i can find it you can have it as I don't have the SVT4 these days.
9. Hi Wayne, (This is based on what I did with my SVT4 btw but I see no reason to assume it would be any different with an SVT5) The Ampeg pedals are ridiculously expensive and operate in the same way as Marshall pedals, which are just as hard wearing, but cost a fraction. If i read your post correctly then you have two input jacks in to the SVT5, so what you are looking for is 2 x 2 pedal latching footswitches. ie. two of these: Nick
10. Thats so cool. Wish I could go but I just can't justify going all that way. Hope it goes well, and if you fancied writing up a review of what was there and what was uber-cool then I'm sure all of us anglo-lefties would really appreciate it. Nick
11. Hi Guys, Big bargain to be had here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hand-Made-Electric-G...id=p3913.c0.m22 5-string lefty Shuker, with Trace combo for BIN £650. If it had been a 4-string I'd have bitten his hand, and arm, off for it. But I'm not really a 5 string guy. Let us know if you go for it. Can't believe the price on this. Nick
12. Yep - Status S2 I believe. Sounded pretty damn cool IMO.
13. Not sure about the line level etc, but one thing to consider is that the Boss A/B box might create 1) some earth hum, 2) you can get minor phasing issues when running the two amps at the same time which would cancel out your tone (running just A/B is fine, just if you are running 'Y') Dedicated amp splitters like the Tonebone have isolated power supplies and a ground lift just in case. In terms of the wiring with the Ampeg, my only concern would be that by having a jack permanently inserted into the Amp B input it would 'override' any normal input into the main jack. So you'd be switching from DHA to DHA muted. Again, its just something to consider.
14. Bit of a bump and a nice shiny poster too
15. We got fed up with promoters a long while ago. Its not just the financial aspect, it was also the fact that we thought we could organise things better and run a more enjoyable night for punters and bands involved. So, this is the fruit of that labour.... http://www.theo2.co.uk/indigo2/view-event.html?eventId=973 We don't do it often, but when we do put one on its generally a great laugh and commercial success. Mixing originals with covers bands helps makes things less 'serious' too.
16.
The last thing I need is people who can actually play bass watching me.
Thats alright - just invite me then
17. If you let us know where you're playing maybe you might get a couple of sales out of BC

19.
The newer stuff seems to be ok then? It still does not stop my gas for an old M2000 though! Does anyone know how the old boogie cabs compare to the newer ones?
I always wanted an M2000 too and used to drool over the review they did in Bassist (back in the day). In the end I went for the SVT4 instead and never actually got to play with an M2000. As for the cabs... well, I've played a lot of cabs in my life and I've never heard anything that beats my current 1x15 Road Ready. If I had to describe it, its like it adds in its own tube warmth. Really lush sounding, but devastatingly loud and cuts through anything. But It Weighs A Tonne and the 4x10 weighs even more, despite only being a Diesel rather than Road Ready. The magnets in the old EVs are just immense and the cabs themselves are really really well put together. The newer cabs are slightly lighter, and slightly more transparent, but you'll still know its a Boogie.
20. Last gig!?!!? Thats a shame. Although its not my neck of the woods I only sent through a link to your band to some Yorkshire mates a couple of days ago, based upon your setlist in the 'pub rock' thread. It looked awesome. I'll try to make sure they come along as its definitely their cup of tea. Hope it all goes well !
This weekend's gigs are for everyone to have a blast (us included) and to raise much needed funds for the RotN to the Core campaign (some great raffle prizes on offer). It would be great to see anyone who's ever been involved in AOS down at either gig. On Sunday we'll be playing 3 full sets of music, and might even allow ourselves the occasional 'refreshment' as we are usually very sober when we play (I will NOT be driving home after this one!). I'm pleased to be playing the final 2 gigs at venues that have supported us very well; the Bridge in Huddersfield who've supported us since we started gigging properly, and the Tarn in Yeadon who've been fantastic with us and have also been our practice venue this year. Angel Of Sin will be on ice but we reserve the right to make music in the future in some format, which may or may not be as 'AOS'. ta, Jon
21. Yep - PA cabs can really sound great. I'm sure someone will correct me, but I believe that Sting has a Turbosound backline (or at least he did in the late 90's). I used a turbosound wedge once as backline when I couldn't get my cab into a, ummmm... cab and it sounded great. Superb bite and clarity and made the floor rumble along nicely.
22. HA!! This thread is now ranked No.2 in the google search for 'Minster Lovell + Wedding'.
23. I have checked with my parents, fiance and best mate and it wasn't any of them.
