1. Have this as a hangover from my SVT-4 days. Its a standard Marshall channel-changer (single button) but it seems to work with all sorts of amps. Probably engaged this less than 20 times in its life and is in tiptop condition. £10 + postage at cost. Cheers Nick
2. I had a first generation SVT4 (1998) and to be honest I was continually disappointed with it. If it didn't have the Ampeg logo on the front I'd have changed it much quicker. It was alright, but never had the authority that I felt it should, particularly given the huge wattage it parades so strongly. Once I'd sold the SVT4 (and keep in mind I had it for 10 years so I gave it a good shot) I've had an SVP-Pro (so the preamp section) and separate generic poweramp and was faaaaaar more impressed with the tone it put out there. Crucially the SVP had a drive control whereas the SVT4 only had the basic gain level. It's just far more ballsy and can be pushed harder. (This isn't meant as a plug, but aforementioned SVP and poweramp are in the for sale section at the moment, sadly) EDIT: I was using a 410HLF too, and using Musicman and Warwick at the time.
3. Sold pending the usual. Thanks for all the interest... looks like I could have sold these about 5 times over in less than 3hrs. Maybe there's a lesson for Lord Sugar of beardiness there?!?!
4. I've got 4 Hercules wall hangers up for grabs, still in their boxes and unused. They are the product of a purchase that was made without obtaining proper marital sanction. They are the wooden backed version. Amazon has them for £13, but I'll see them for £7.50 + postage at cost. Or if you want the lot I'm open to offers. Cheers.
5. Bump Mesa Diesel 4x10 also for sale so could do a nice complete Ampeg/Mesa package if anyone is keen?? Also I've got the missing knob on order now so will be complete by the time anyone buys this.
6. Bump... Ampeg SVP-Pro and poweramp also for sale so could do a nice complete Ampeg/Mesa package if anyone is keen??
7. Cheers Jon, Yes I'll be very sad to see this go (though no interest so far !). As you say its in great condition and I've looked after it well since.
8. Its definitely black Here are some pics:
9. Smaller gigs mean that I'm scaling down my rig. As a result I'm putting my Ampeg SVP-Pro preamp up for sale. The preamp is the heart of the great SVT, but in a 1U unit. Its amazingly flexible, moving from subtle and deep tones to 'tear your face off' growl with the flick of a switch. This has been in my rack for about 4 years and I had it revalved a couple of years back, with minimal use since as I've been mainly using my Eden since that time. Its in very good condition, and I've now replaced a missing knob that once went astray at a gig. Looking for £sold Collection from Maidenhead preferred but I can post too, or drop off in the local area. I also have a 1500w Studiomaster poweramp (or 2 x 750w) available which I can throw in for a small extra charge. So you can have a 1500w Ampeg rig for £350. I also have a Mesa Diesel 4x10 in another listing and could work out a deal for anyone who wanted a complete rig. But I can't post that... Cheers Nick
10.
Would you swap this for an Ampeg 6x10 ?
I'm afraid not. I'm going smaller rather than larger. Unless anyone has a Tonehammer 500 out there I'm after cash only. Thanks.
11. Up for grabs is my Mesa Boogie 4x10 Diesel cabinet. I did think that this was a lifetime keeper but I've been swayed by something new and exciting so I must make way for progress. Its in very good to excellent condition, and has been in the Basschat family for a number of years now. It has the original EV speakers and sounds immense. Collection from Maidenhead (thats 15mins from the M4/M25 junction) vastly preferred and postage is not really an option given the weight (it is on castors though) Price drop to [s]£350[/s] £sold
12.
I guess it depends on your cab choice. Efficiency is key when you lower the amp power.
Totally. I noticed that the SL cabs that perhaps are designed to partner the Tonehammer heads (rather than the older GS and DB cabs) are significantly more efficicient. I tried both the 350 and the 500 at the lefty bass bash last month, courtesy of Phil at Bassgear. It was my first time with Aguilar gear and I was seriously seriously impressed. I'm very closed to selling off my current kit and getting an Aguilar rig. For my money the 500 was worth the squirt as it has the drive control. Also I'm dropping from a 1kw rig so having the extra 150w of headroom consoles me. Phil had them partnered with the SL cabs by the way - they are amazing... rich and deep but a one fingered lift. Edit: just checked the specs and the 350 has the drive control too, sorry. But I also checked the speaker sensitivity... GS and DB cabs are 95db and the SL's are 99.9db. Also the frequency response is wider... 37Hz-16Khz vs 42Hz-16Khz on the GS and DBs.
13. Anyone else want to put their hat in to the ring? Cheers
14. I've used MattSnowball many times, both for bass gear and PA bits, and can wholeheartedly endorse them. Phil is great to deal with (nice surprise to find you on here Phil!) In fact if you look closely at my avatar pic you'll see an Ampeg 1x18 that I hired to beef up my 4x10HLF and SVT4 rig a couple of years back. Nick
15. At least they're on the main stage this time. I forgot to add that the marquee was a hot. Stupid hot. No possibility of getting out to go to the bar. Security were throwing water over the crowd. Ahhhh happy days....
16. Thanks for all the responses so far. I've forwarded them over to the groom who is a happy chappy. Keep 'em coming.
17. Morning, A work colleague of mine is getting married in Preston on 8th September and is looking for a function band. Its a bit far for us to travel (from London) so I told him I'd have a word around BC and see if anyone wants to put their hat in the ring. If you could PM me with details of your band including style of music and any web links that would be much appreciated. Thanks all CB
18. I was there!!!! Reading '95 was my first festival and it was awesome. I spent the whole weekend in the moshpit - White Zombie were the best. Anyways, yeah I went to see the Foo Fighters. To this day I've never seen such a crowd. I was expecting a lot of interest but from about 2hrs beforehand there was a general shift away from the main stage to the marquee. Perhaps because (if I recall rightly) they were on at the same time as Bjork! I managed to get in the marquee (the crowd went back for miles outside) and was about 25m out wide stage left. My enduring memory was of a guy (guys?) climbing right to the top of the central pillars of the marquee. The whole gig was mental though. I wasn't aware of a recording - not that I ever looked. If its available somewhere and you have a link then please PM me. Would be great to hear it in a more chilled setting.
19. 24 tracks. A 2.5hr long gig. 6 vocal mics 2 ambient tracks. Never mixed anything before Should have it done by tomorrow....
20. Its working!!!! It took a while to sort the settings but it seems that I needed the ASIO driver and there was no problem with the sampling rate after all. Thanks very much for your help with this - its really appreciated.
21. Thanks guys. I really appreciate your help. Spiderjazz - I had presumed that I needed to set everything in Reaper to 48KHz/24 bit because the AIFF files I'm dealing with were produced with those specs... is that not the case?
