  1. Thats useful - I've got an AH150 that makes some horrible noises (not all caused by me) one day I'll get it in for repair.
  2. No idea...get it to a good tech - mine have commented on how well they are put together (meaning they are very fixable!) I might even have a circuit plan somewhere - PM me if you think it would help?
  3. Contego is way ahead. The Thomann bag is good for the money, but the plastic leather material isn't that durable (mine has a few cracks at stress points after two years of light use) and the zip isn't that great. Two things about the Contego - its fairly large (but easy to use as a backpack) and the zip seems a bit feeble compared to the overall design. Edit: My age must be showing - had a look just now and can't see any cracks in the plastic leather material - either they are self repairing, or my eyesight is going..or my memory!
  4. Is it 110v? I see tape on the back...but can't read it....
  5. Curlycabletastic......that must have been at the workshop?
  6. Funny you should say that! I emailed them a while ago, and their response was send it back and we'll replace it - very helpful, and impressive for them to be so generous without any prompting. But, I bought the bag used here on BassChat so I didn't feel that was fair to the company. I had bought a similar bag new and direct from them a few years earlier, and I didn't want the two to be confused. Not had a reply since I explained that last bit..but that's no big surprise.
  7. Compact is the obvious choice...or Midget/Compact combined as a modular (expensive) option. But if you're already a W'ick endorser, why not try the smaller Hellborg cabs? Are they stupid heavy? They used to do a co-axial 1x15" that would be worth a go.
  8. Well, mine is on an expensive Overwater/Harvest bag. Apart from the dodgy zip its on great condition!
  9. Another Penning?? Must come round and drink coffee again soon...
  10. That almost worked...but not really. Did prove that pushing to one side temporarily fixes it, but once you stop pushing it sometimes comes undone again behind the zip pull. Thanks for the tip.
  11. That sounds great to me...I don't hear much struggling! I've always enjoyed the EMG sound on fretless, but it can be "generic" and not very personal. Never played a Pilot (or a Guild even) but now I'll have to try one out if I ever see one for sale locally. Thanks for the review
  12. If it wasn't for car tax and MOT next week I'd be grabbing this one! Another great BassChat offer.....
  13. I sold a 5 string set of these to Shaggy a few years ago - he had the same issue with an old Kramer. Might be worth a PM to see if he's got any left over?
  14. Let us know what you find? There is also a modern case like this that comes with Fodera basses...but that will be the expensive option!
  15. Brandoni used to have cases like that...worth a google and a phone call?
  16. Has it got the pivot plate thing..and still functional?
  17. Bought a scratch plate from Seni this week - exactly as described, easy transaction, great communication and very quick delivery. Just what a BassChat deal should be!
  18. Lovely...let mine go a while ago and still miss it sometimes. Trades an option?
  19. I'll second the EA CXL 112 as the best sounding all-rounder run around cab. But the BF Midget is under half the weight, smaller and almost has the same sonic capability...just get s a bit more mid-barky as it gets louder and hasn't got the lowest lows until its turned up a bit (eq or volume...or both). I turned the tweeter off, so the highs aren't part of my bass playing needs - but the CXL also reproduced acoustic guitar/violin exceptionally well with the tweeter turned up about half way. Great cab, but EA's current products don't look as impressive to me. I'd love to try some Acme B1's one day
  20. I've had that happen once, but it was the DI pedal (Sadowsky) that seemed to pick it up. Moved the box a few feet away and it stopped. That was more like feedback...fairly constant high pitched tone. That could be it though....see if it happens at home?
  21. Sounds like a piezo element is failing? Is it happening on one /pair of strings more than the others? From my experiences piezos usually tell you they're giving up either by humming or squeaking, never in an attractive way. Worth looking for iffy solder connections or stressed wires (esp where they join the piezo element) but I'd get in contact with the maker - they're very likely to recognise the symptoms.
  22. Try emailing Bert at Hotwire basses. When I had some issues with a Pyramid flat set they put me in touch with him. His site also sells them, so I'm sure he can sort out what you want.
  23. I'd look out for a Protection Racket bag - pretty generous dimensions and good padding.
  24. I remember - had a few issues, then subscribed. Bit of a glimpse into the classical world for me...I always felt it had a lot of possibilities, like opening up into the EUB world. It reminded me of venturing into a "violin shoppe" and experiencing some of that special brand of disdain reserved for popular musicians, who used electric trickery to ply their dirty trade on the unwashed masses. Or maybe that was just me....
  25. Not seen one yet..but looks good from what I've read on the interweb. Are they very heavy?
