  1. Great little amps. I’ve gone back to using the later MB150S..does the job in many gig situations. However, I’m very aware of the speaker edge problem, seems to happen after about 20 years. I’d be very interested in how this is best solved…there used to be replacement drivers available or replacement kits for the foam edge. Can this still be done?
  2. The name I recall for the earlier designs was Stuart Watson?
  3. Just a thought, but I still use MkIV GP11 preamps - the preamp gain usually has to be on 7 or 8 out of 10 clicks with any passive bass. There is a lot of headroom, I guess to suit higher output active basses of the time. No shortage of output on the master volume, but the preamp gain generally needs to be high.
  4. Will has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Clear communication, knows his gear and did a great packaging job on the amp. I’m always nervous about couriers handling amps (or anything!) but no worries at all this time. Thanks again 😎
  5. I remember the sound he used to get on fretless…it was wonderful 😎. Sad news..
  6. Any updates on this? I’ve never met Phil, but have had some contact with him on the interweb. Always been impressed with the PJB line and his concept for how audio can be. Hope all goes well for him.
  7. I remember the name from years ago….Wal associations and maybe an Aria advert in magazines? I did briefly meet him on a pub gig a few years ago, but got called back on stage before I could even say hello…
  8. I wouldn’t want to run lower than 4ohms, which is probably the internal load of the combo’s own speakers. For expansion options I would find another SWR head (Bass 350, or any of the Workingmans series) and drive that from the preamp of the combo (patched into effects return).
  9. SWR used to say their amps would run down to 2 ohms, but (having used a lot of them over the years) I wouldn't recommend it. They run fairly hot anyway and going that low will only get them hotter quicker. The extra output will be marginal, but put more stress on the amp. Maybe look out for a cheap Workingman's head and use that as a power amp for an additional cab?
  10. Very concerning news…I hope there is good news soon 🤞🏻
  11. I’d suggest black plastic tapewounds as a good alternative for acoustics. GHS, Galli and a few others sell them. Check the scale length for fit on your bass. Thomastik flats are great but the B string is huge, and might not be a good idea on an acoustic style bridge.
  12. That is a lovely and very well designed bass 😎
  13. I think that particular (Beedster) neck is still on my bitser Jazz, but that does look similar 😎.
  14. Sorry to say I can't make it this year. Involved in running a Blooooze day in Bath. Have a great Bash!!
  15. Very sad…a proper legend 😕
  16. Great - I’d like to buy it. Bank transfer and post to Bristol ok? cheers Duncan
  17. Oh, the temptation 😅😂. Perfect for those Christmas shows 🎅🏻👀
  18. Thanks…I’m not far away 😎. This would be so inappropriate for a lot of my gigs…makes it even more tempting 😂🤷🏻‍♂️
  19. Keep looking at this one…very tempted 🤔
  20. ..and a lovely amp it is too. My first SWR from the Fender years…but they didn’t change a lot. 😎
  21. Oohh, that means you’re driving straight past me..🤔
