1. Thing is, being German that surname is read with the u sound as in "book", which possibly makes it - er - a north of England accent?
2. I had the same with my fretted and fretless 5s (Rockbasses). I installed D'Addario Chromes on both and, since the problem wasn't as bad as yours (only a couple of millimetres out of place), I decided to strip the B and E strings of their silk and only slightly file the B strings so that they would fit fully. But yes, it's a known PITA in older Warwicks; they've finally changed the design of the bridge to cure it.
3. The headstock reads "RxTx" so yes, that's probably correct
4. Welcome back, Ray! I'm sure you will find both inspiration and much cause for GAS on here. Post questions, rant or raves and see where our answers take you
5. I don't mean to sound like anathema, but anyone thinking of going? It appears to be still in the early stages of planning, as only Richie Kotzen and Jennifer Batten are confirmed as performers and masterclasses. However, I'm very tempted in any case, because it's bound to have a hard rock/heavy metal slant! http://www.londonelectricguitarshow.com/
6.
If IE 9 is the answer, you can't possibly be asking the right question.
+1,000
7. I agree with Darkandrew. Also, remember that it may take several days for a tweak in the truss rod to have its full effect, and seasonal changes in temperature and humidity will affect the setup. Best to learn how to perform a setup yourself (truss rod, pickup height, string action, string height at the nut - if adjustable - and intonation): depending on the quality and type of bass*, you may find yourself needing to set it up every 2-3 months. Edit: *and type of strings
8. Are we witnessing the marmite effect? Each of us either loves or loathes that model!
9. I am sooo jealous! One day I'll come to one of your bass camps, guys. Unfortunately this year it hasn't been possible. Keep up the good work!
10. LOL I tweeted about this (as BC) this morning, asking for opinions. It must have shocked everyone into silence, as nobody has yet replied
11. Can those of us who only play along to records be included in the question? I'm lucky enough to really feel at one with my bass when I know I've nailed a bassline - to the last damn note - and played it along with the record without making any mistakes. The feeling is massively enhanced when I play the same song(s) note-perfect on different basses, for instance my 5 and my upright 5 (not all songs are suitable to the latter). The good feeling makes up for all the hours you spent torturing your fingers and boring your mind on scales and seventh chords etc., and also for those days when you might as well be playing bass while wearing boxing gloves
12.
Does anyone know where one could buy the book? Amazon don't seem to have any.
Sarah Thomas's post No. 9 on page 1 gives the relevant link
13. Aww, all's well in the universe once again, then. This thread reminds me of my own experience with string buzzing - on the upright 4. Fingering a low C (on the A string) always produced a noise. So I dismantled the bridge, checked it thoroughly, cleaned it, added graphite into the grooves, cleaned the strings, made sure the tuning pegs were fine, then riassembled the lot. Now ALL the strings buzzed like mad! The cause - I finally discovered - was a loose tailpiece.
14. Sorry to hear you've been unwell, Chris. No hurry for this, I was just bumping the thread because the Double Bass forum was a bit slow in the last few days. Get well soon.
15. Sooo... we need to know who's been funny/weird enough to win this
16. The site was slow for me for a while yesterday, but it never got to the point of not loading at all. (Firefox 15.0 on Win 7 Pro.) I'll do all the pinging and checking if the site starts misbehaving here too, and let you know.
17. Great to see you, Ad! Lots of fun and dancing despite the mid-week scheduling. The usual few shots from last night:
18.
I've already told them I refuse to cover anything by the darkness
I think that should go without saying!
19. YAY for Charic! Way to go! All the best, I hope they'll call you back. Keep us posted.
20. Big props to this loving and lovely wife! I'm sure your hubby realises that he's a lucky chap Be prepared to see pleasantly surprised staff when you go to the shops with him. I remember buying an expensive EQ module as a birthday present for my ex a few years ago: we went to the store and tried a few, he chose the model he liked best, we went to the till and I produced my credit card, to which the (male) sales assistant said: oh, your lady's paying for it?? Me: Yes, b-day pressie, y'know. Him: Wow, I only get socks...!
21. The speed is more or less normal on my PC, at least at the moment.
22. Very interesting. At least two left-handed friends of mine, from catholic families, were forced by their parents to learn to write with their right hands (that was in the early 70s). Sigh. I suppose you can say that, in your case your fretting hand is your stronger one, so you may have the edge in certain cases... I know that, when I first picked up the bass guitar, I could hardly hold a righty one, while instinctively I felt more at ease with a lefty - so lefty it was. Then again, it was 2006.
23. YAY!! Now make sure that The Black Rat hiding behind that beer mat can't fall in...
