1. That makes sense but yes, I fully see your point as I'm a 5-string addict and hate non-standard tunings
2. Ah, thanks for that. I guess the strings on mine would hang loose, let alone be able to produce any kind of tuned sound...
3. Hang on, do I get this correctly, a 4 string bass that's tuned... how? Low C on what used to be the open E string, and what are the other open strings tuned to? I still don't see the point (hooray for 5-stringers!), but I'm genuinely curious.
4. I haven't put myself on that list yet, but I'm coming to the bash. Since Happy Jack is kindly offering me a lift there, and he's carrying quite a lot of stuff of his own, I probably won't add anything to the car load or, if there's space, just my Rockbass 4 for trying out your rigs etc. if I feel confident enough. That bass is of no interest to anybody except myself, since it's plain, cheap and left-handed! I'll add my name to the list closer to the bash date.
5. Ah, apologies, got your problem wrong. Weird glitch, then. Still, this site does seem to behave oddly at times, especially late at night (US time - morning to early afternoon here) - probably due to patches being applied or maintenance being performed when the traffic on the host servers is at its lowest.
6. No problem here. Have you checked your spam filter? Its setup may have been changed automatically, without you realising, if you updated your AV or similar. Also check that your ISP isn't blocking BC emails as spam directly on their servers, before they even reach your own spam filter.
7.
Just 2? I'm no expert but they ain't pretty titties!
LOL we're going OT but yes, I agree, but I didn't want to appear too critical
8.
Naaaaah! This is the best rehearsal room I've ever seen:
Two of those - er - ladies have very weird tits.
9. Standing by on BC's Twitter account!
10. Congrats! We'll be hanging on your every word...
11. Give it some more time, then, and it should be all right.
12. Hm, do you have to use a hammer to turn the key in the truss rod? If so, be careful - if the rod is seized it will break, rather than allow to be tightened any further.
13. No. But some necks need more time than others to adjust after a truss rod tweak. and some truss rods are better than others at keeping their torque.
14. Except that there are still so many people who ask you "play me Jessie J/The U2/Coldplay/Metallica" and expect to hear - and immediately recognise - the melody...
15. This Oxjam thingy is suddenly getting seriously interesting, with you guys both being there with your bands! Shaping up to be a great day.
16. Oooo, I will make either or both the Shep Bush and the Chiswick Oxjam! No ifs or buts
17.
Next audition take a 'light sabre' (or something with LED's)
A Status?
18. Charic, onwards and upwards, and it's good to hear there are no hard feelings etc. But really, did they want someone older or younger? And hadn't they known your age/seen you before they asked you to audition?
19. When I was taking lessons, my tutor and I aimed to meet up once a week, but it often ended up as once every two weeks. It will depend on your workload (as in day job), your own learning pace and also on the quantity of new stuff to learn in each lesson. Each of my lessons contained some theory and at least one (real) song which applied the theory, but more often there were two real songs. I was pretty crap on the practical side, i.e. actually playing the songs, but very good on theory, reading notation, and swotty things like that
