Well jel of your neatly arranged basses hanging from the wall. Mine (7 in total, with the uprights) are on stands or in soft gigbags (kept vertically and not leaning on anything) in a corner of the room. And I'm "lucky" that I don't play live, so I've only got one practice amp...

LOL I'm getting the Local Slags too, now (not sure whether I should be happy with that ad's inclusiveness...). The slags seem to keep turning up like the proverbial, together with ads for holidays and, obviously, those Dell banners

[/quote] I tend to agree with this - the last time I was able to see and touch Warwick basses and amps without having already ordered, bought and taken delivery of them from Thomann was at the London Guitar Show in 2010. There was a large, awesome, GAS-inducing Warwick/Framus stand with lots of everything they sell - BUT: they only had a couple of lefty models out of at least 40-45 models on show, and their staff were rather cold to this middle-aged female bassist. They appeared to struggle to believe that I could actually be interested in looking at the instruments in earnest, and asked whether the catalogue I requested at the desk was really for me. I quote: "So YOU play bass then!!??!" I'm a big fan of Warwicks for their look, sound and ready availability of left-handed models, but my visit at the time was in fact the lowlight of the show. I trust things will improve though, now that we are pointing them out to Garey and, through him, the company.

I guess positioning a double bass safely requires an instinctive understanding of the laws of physics (centre of gravity and all that) and the total absence of bumbling punters and other musicians within 5 metres of the rig. But in the end, nothing beats a double bass for coolness, and Artisan's photo proves the point

So, in the end I wasn't left alone, as Richard (Fat Rich) turned up, and we had a lovely afternoon chatting, exchanging text messages with Shelley in Edinburgh, and generally relaxing and feeling pretty hot (very much like everyone around us). So it's all good

I guess it also depends on whether the wood is stained, or oiled, or natural etc.? My basses too seem to need truss rod adjustment at the turn of every season - they start buzzing when it gets warmer/more humid and, conversely, develop an excessively high action when it gets colder and less wet.

OK, OK, if I find myself alone there, I'll wait for an hour or so and then set out on my own business...

Same here, I check tuning every time I play, and each bass needs re-tuning if the temperature or the humidity has changed noticeably since the day before. I think it's due to the combination of the metal strings slightly changing length due to the temperature, the truss rod changing shape and the wood reacting to humidity. And I believe it's normal, unless the changes in shape/tuning are dramatic.

Sigh - I had a similar comment a propos of a photo I posted here a couple of months ago, where I was suggestively (sigh...) holding my Corvette fretless 5. Look, I [b]love[/b] the Corvette shape, and its being so small was one of the deciding factors when I chose to become a Warwick fan. I mean, I can't escape the fact - even my Corvette 4 looks bigger than me when I'm standing up

Another bump - Saturday's weather looks all right. I think I'm going to have an early lunch before I go out, just because it's easier for me to travel slightly lighter as opposed to carrying bowls of stuff on the tube. However, if anyone would like to bring food as well as drink, feel free - we'll make sure we won't beg you for bites unless we have food of our own to offer in exchange

I'm not sure if it's because I'm usually on 5 string or upright, or what, but when I'm playing the Corvette 4 its neck feels as thin as a broomstick to me...
