1. YAY for Charic! Way to go! All the best, I hope they'll call you back. Keep us posted.
2. Big props to this loving and lovely wife! I'm sure your hubby realises that he's a lucky chap Be prepared to see pleasantly surprised staff when you go to the shops with him. I remember buying an expensive EQ module as a birthday present for my ex a few years ago: we went to the store and tried a few, he chose the model he liked best, we went to the till and I produced my credit card, to which the (male) sales assistant said: oh, your lady's paying for it?? Me: Yes, b-day pressie, y'know. Him: Wow, I only get socks...!
3. The speed is more or less normal on my PC, at least at the moment.
4. Very interesting. At least two left-handed friends of mine, from catholic families, were forced by their parents to learn to write with their right hands (that was in the early 70s). Sigh. I suppose you can say that, in your case your fretting hand is your stronger one, so you may have the edge in certain cases... I know that, when I first picked up the bass guitar, I could hardly hold a righty one, while instinctively I felt more at ease with a lefty - so lefty it was. Then again, it was 2006.
5. YAY!! Now make sure that The Black Rat hiding behind that beer mat can't fall in...
6. Brilliant. Thank you Gareth (and Bob).
7. Ohhh yess!
8.
Although I'm left handed, I 'forced' myself to play right handed when I started playing bass, for the same reason that I though it would be difficult to find a good selection of left handed instruments.
Although that may have been inevitable at the time, I really hope that, now and in the future, an ever-increasing number of lefties will choose to play the correct type of guitar/bass, as that will allow the market to grow and lower prices and increase the availability of models. Having been taught to write with the "wrong" hand (my right) by mistake, and having hated the results for the whole of my life, I simply could not have forced myself to do the same on bass, and would not wish that on any other lefty, TBH...
9. I have a friend who, around 20 years ago, got a pick from her guitar hero - Yngwie Malmsteen - and actually had it made into a silver necklace she wore for most of the 90s Rock on! \m/
10. Many of us are deeply indebted to Basschat for practical help, moral support of a musical kind and also friendship and moral support of a more general kind. I'm trying to redress the balance by dedicating some of my time to help with our Twitter account, and I also made a couple of donations in the past few months (although I haven't sold or bought anything second hand so far).
Although Clarky sending me a pick from my favourite bassist is strongly stuck at the forefront of my mind every time I see it so a special thanks to you dude
David Ellefson? Or who else? Can we see a pic please?
11. So he started by building for himself only, then progressed from there. Double kudos. One of the reasons why I didn't take up bass guitar when I was in my teens (late 70s) was that there were no lefty instruments that my family and I knew of for buying, in Florence at the time.
12. ... or even with electric drills, to wind other Telecoms nerds up Coming over with a pack of six (for you) and a glass of fruit juice (for me)
13. Lovely basses. Does he build exclusively left-handed models or is this his dedicated lefty website? Either case, kudos to him.
14. Telecoms Nerds Of The World, Unite (in that corner) I guess I'm on my way to joining you there...
15. This thread is getting a bit unsettling, what with me having to model a set of strings and the mods having to shed their clothes altogether...
16. It is indeed, Paul. I'll be there with the guys. Would be great to see you if you can make it!
17. Another thumbs up for the Chromes (have them on both my 5s). But also loving my Thomastiks on the fretted 4. Good job, Kenny, now enjoy!
18. Marco and Verb, haven't I met you somewhere before? (Yes, the Warwick forum...!) Welcome both!
19. LOL I was going to suggest that those who had problems should try to ping the site, then thought better of it As I said in one of my previous messages, it does look like they're doing work on the host(s) but trying not to take them all offline at the same time (thankfully!).
20. We are having reports that some users can't access BC at all today, on PC or iPhone. It's working fine on my PC, though.
21. Yup. And not necessarily at peak times. Perhaps there's some ongoing work on the host servers, with some of them being taken offline in turn. The site's speed seems normal today, so far.
22. Would a few Dell computer deals help?
23. Hello Si, and welcome to Basschat and to the low end! You won't regret either move
24. I can't help you because I only own a real DB in my dreams for the time being, but I'm bumping this in the hope someone among our experts can give you an adequate answer.
