1.
i've never been to one of these. Do you just turn up on the day and make donations or do you need to book? Not sure that i have anything worth bringing along but would like to come jeff
I would also love to know more. My intention would be to attend but mostly spectate. I've got a couple of items that could go in the raffle, and I could probably bring my NXT 5 if any other lefty is going to attend and would like to have a look at it.
2. I think it makes a lot of sense, really. I haven't tried my hand at drumming but I went to a couple of masterclasses (one of them by Billy Cobham) at my music school when I was studying bass, and loved them. For a bassist, I think it does help to know how a drummer "functions", so to speak.
3. Sorry to resurrect this old thread - I will create a new one eventually, but I just meant to ask if anyone would be up for a meetup in London some time in the second half of August? When is the Olympics madness taking a break? (And will the weather behave?) Opinions?
4. Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite 70s songs. Haven't had the opportunity to find out the bassline by ear yet - anyone got a link to the dots by any chance, to save me (and anyone else who might be interested) a bit of time? Clarky, please keep us all posted about your next gig, with or without KB tribute. Hopefully a little closer to west London next time?
5. I must say that there definitely is some truth in the above - I've had to mess around with the jack socket in my Fortress to tighten it before it started giving me problems, and the bass is only a couple of years old and I only play it at home. Having said that, a little care makes things last longer
6. I didn't even know any publication with that title existed at all!
7.
This is what we need. Naked Ped, from Asschat vists Barefaced. This is gold dust, people.

I've just confirmed a visit to TC Electronic so I'll take my mankini
8. LOL @ "Gauche" in the name You are always welcome, Bert, even as a Guardian reader - commiserations, it must be one of the most boring papers in the world of English-language media...
9. Bump for anyone who might be thinking of going. I'm still not 100% and need to do a bit more research, but in the meantime, let's keep this topic live.
10.
He'll be seeing the world doing these 'factory tours' for our benefit
Ped, if you need an assistant, give me a shout!
11. Southpaws Of The World, Unite! Welcome, Mark!
12. I've just checked my profile - according to it, my total post count is 1,157 (1,158 with this one I guess!), with a majority of posts (322) in General Discussion. The post count under my avatar to the left shows over 900 posts - and I've been a BC member for exactly 9 months today. I guess that shows I've been pretty talkative in my time here so far, and it's a good sign - it means I'm comfortable and happy as an active part of this welcoming community.
13. Er, no, thing is, I don't find that embarrassing at all - which may have something to do with yours truly being pretty close to your age anyway, so we're either all terminally uncool or we just don't give a damn
14. *scratches head* Being a childless non-native English speaker is not conducive to understanding what the hell the two of you are talking about I've just looked up both terms in the Urban Dictionary, and I'm infinitely grateful that, for a change, neither appears to have any mysterious sexual connotations or be used to describe obscure sexual practices of which I never even suspected the existence.
15. Well done to both student and teacher! When I decided to take up bass playing, the first thing I did was look for a tutor, despite the glut of DVDs and youtube clips targeted at beginners. I think it's always best to take lessons, not only as an absolute beginner as I was, but also when you are getting back to music after a break; that way, any bad habits you may develop, or have developed, are nipped in the bud and good, effort-saving habits are instilled.
16. Love this, and looking forward to the one about Warwick too. Thanks Ped!
17.
Lefty Warwick? Fab... I'd like to see those being played
Believe me, they are, and sound, identical to their righty versions
18. We can give her a call too if you like! Will I see you there? I'd love to.
19. Heh. My teachers couldn't play my lefty Warwicks...
20. We would need to be absolutely committed, to avoid letting down the others in the group. Staying the Sat night will be inevitable, I'd say. I'll do a bit of research later tonight or tomorrow. (And I'm sure we can also ask Garey of Warwick for advice if needed.) Anyone else?
