1. Firefox 14.0.1 here too, same problem. Been ignoring it so far, can't be bothered to switch coding just for this website...
2.
I bet - good for you!
But you say you've settled on the bass, so it's the end of a quest, and as a result you simply are a bassist, no matter what others say or don't say, so good onya as well
3. One of my FB friends commented on a photo (long since deleted) of me playing my 4-stringer, with the words "Wow, look at that bassist!!!!". That was around a year after I started, so I was still a beginner, but it felt nice
4. There was another one going spare, but it didn't fit any of us and we couldn't make use of it
5. Yes, but listening is one thing, being able to play the whole bassline correctly is another. No Treble have a library of isolated basslines from different artists and genres. http://www.notreble.com/buzz/tag/isolated-bass/
6. Nope - that's right at the opposite end of town from where I live, and I'd prefer not to have to travel for more than an hour just to reach the place, if at all possible. I'm thinking of something relatively central such as one of the parks (Regent's, Hyde) or a pub in the area if the weather plays up. Or, of course, we can go to the same place as our first meetup, the South Bank, if you guys prefer.
7. Indeed! And by the way, I love the way that flying V sounds. Heeavyyy \m/ \m/
8. Ok, then we'll have sex only if someone finally remembers what it is and explains it to the rest of us. Otherwise, it'll be just curry...
9. Thanks Jack for explaining and everybody else for encouraging us newbies! I'm looking forward to attending - apart from the learning to slap bit...
10. What a pity, Shelley - you're going to miss out on the sex and curry...
11. Great gig, as always, with lots of people dancing and having fun! Some shots from last night:
12. I'm thinking of messaging the other girls and make sure we all turn up as 80s rock chicks - but then you guys would have to alter your setlist a bit Maybe next time
13. Happened to me some time ago. I think you need to go into your profile settings here on BC and make sure you tick "Automatically detect when my time zone is in DST".
14. @Whynot, I'm planning a drink in a pub or a picnic if the weather is right, so it's going to be entirely free if you bring your food and drink from home. @Lozz Burnt toast? Bloody hell, I wouldn't eat that stuff even if I didn't have to have an operation, let alone if I did... I hope all goes well with minimal discomfort in any case.
15. Ouch indeed! All the best - will you be given lots of ice cream afterwards, as they did to kids undergoing that op in the 70s? I'll start a new thread some time tomorrow, taking all this info into consideration.
16. Au contraire, I expect you to showcase the finest Italian style in men's fashion!
17. I think the comment referred to the "phwoaar-worthy" photo of her with the bass, not specifically to her music.
18. I think many of us were young when Kate Bush was young as well, so we've sort of grown old together, hence the attraction for our male contingent...? I find that much more dignified than perving after women young enough to be their daughters.
19. We're not taking any gear to this sort of meetups, it's just a drink (or a picninc should summer - the real one, not this travety - make an appearance), and any BC member is welcome, and they don't have to be accomplished musicians (I for one am not!). So I'll keep that in mind when I start the new thread and hopefully a few people will be able to come along.
20. Sounds like we can choose any day, then. I'll wait to see if anyone else replies to this thread, and then I'll start a new one with a suggestion for date and place, and we'll take it from there. Thank you all who replied so far!
21. So, spandex, flying V, poodle perm, all ready? xx
22. LOL is bass playing better than sex? Is good bass playing better than bad sex? And how does that very special bass of yours work as an orgasm ray gun, then? (ooo er, fnarr fnarr etc.) Welcome, Bob!
