One of my FB friends commented on a photo (long since deleted) of me playing my 4-stringer, with the words "Wow, look at that bassist!!!!". That was around a year after I started, so I was still a beginner, but it felt nice

Nope - that's right at the opposite end of town from where I live, and I'd prefer not to have to travel for more than an hour just to reach the place, if at all possible. I'm thinking of something relatively central such as one of the parks (Regent's, Hyde) or a pub in the area if the weather plays up. Or, of course, we can go to the same place as our first meetup, the South Bank, if you guys prefer.

Happened to me some time ago. I think you need to go into your profile settings here on BC and make sure you tick "Automatically detect when my time zone is in DST".

I think the comment referred to the "phwoaar-worthy" photo of her with the bass, not specifically to her music.

I think many of us were young when Kate Bush was young as well, so we've sort of grown old together, hence the attraction for our male contingent...? I find that much more dignified than perving after women young enough to be their daughters.

We're not taking any gear to this sort of meetups, it's just a drink (or a picninc should summer - the real one, not this travety - make an appearance), and any BC member is welcome, and they don't have to be accomplished musicians (I for one am not!). So I'll keep that in mind when I start the new thread and hopefully a few people will be able to come along.

Sounds like we can choose any day, then. I'll wait to see if anyone else replies to this thread, and then I'll start a new one with a suggestion for date and place, and we'll take it from there. Thank you all who replied so far!
