1. Thanks for posting! It's a band I like, but that I've heard little of the last decade. But you kicked me into action again: Must . Search . CD . Shelves. As to the lyrics, this is what LyricWikia says: Oh thou Ukko and thou Akka Weavers all of winds and weather Pray I do to a black man Raise a wind and make it whirling Raise a wind and make it whirling Make a gale that's great and growing Tear up tar stumps off the roadside Pull the pine trees off the lake shore Break the tops of giant oak trees Crash their robust roots to splinter Rise thou wind to blow and bellow Gust and gale to whirl all over Rise thou wind to blow and bellow Rage and rave, thou angry weather, Blow thou wind through more than six years Rage through summers more than seven Rapids rise to rush in torrents Aged waters to run swiftly And thou self rush like the rapids And prevail without a hindrance Pray I do to a black man Raise a wind and make it whirling Raise a wind and make it whirling Make a gale that's great and growing
2. Ah! Well, I do hope it makes a lot more noise than these electric Up! ones that sneak up on you, the creepy besturds. Although something tells me it might.
3.
my home built Fuzz and Octavia
You, sir, have my deepest respect. Dunno the Fuzz though. Is that a Skoda as well?
4.
I always thought that forums were about opinions. Perhaps in future if we think something is awful it's best if we all say we like to please those who do. Perhaps there should be a sticky saying that so in future we all know.
Well:
Some people enjoy this music, and some don't. Sounds normal to me.
Three bashing threads in a few months remains special, and I still wonder what is so special about exactly Dirty Loops' insipid dross.
5. It's a well known fact that anything that is not Evan Parker, AMM, J.S. Bach or Krzysztof Penderecki is insipid dross, so why the harsh condemnation of exactly this insipid dross? The OP likes it. Several others, admittedly including me, like it. Some people enjoy this music, and some don't. Sounds normal to me. Yet, Dirty Loops almost seems to be kinda unique in gathering all the antis for shared condemnation with harsh wording. Also, this is the third Dirty Loops bashing thread in just a few month, and this time, the OP even specifically asked for opinions about the bass player. FWiW; whilst I do appreciate his playing, I did feel that in this track his timing could be slightly more laid back and rounded. We're talking details here, and I only wrote it so as to comply with what the OP was in fact asking about.
6. What? WHAT? W H A T ? ? You don't even recognise fellow bass player Malcolm Cecil? Me neither. Or rather, I did recognise Malcolm Cecil, but had no idea he's a bass player. The monster behind him, btw, is TONTO - reportedly the largest modular synth ever. IMS it consisted of modules and keyboards from a range of brands, necessitating they built all kinds of circuitry to "translate" the control signals between systems. Any self respecting bass player in need of some bass synth sounds should get one or two of these.
7.
sorry BT for not being all things to all men .. were would we be without police like you? you got my point though.......sigh......thanks for the repair.
Well, I was just being friendly, and provided the embedding without making a fuss about it, expecting everyone to understand what had happened, and why I did that. If I understand your English correctly, you took it in a quite different way, which is a shame. It also saddens me.

9.
I wonder how bad the singer gets it in U2 tribute bands?
Drunkard, at the top of his voice: - "But I don't want the new tribute band album on my phone :-("
10. I think the essence is in how the communication went when, after the toy throwing, you told him/them: - I'm not playing there anymore - I'm not booking any gigs - I need time off If, at that point, he/they said. "C'mon, PS, let's think this one through, yeah!?!?", then yes, they should've told you. If, however, they said: "Sorry to see you go, PS", then no. You resigned, and they started looking for someone else.
11.
Is this Absolute guitars in Backwell Near Bristol?
What are your reasons for getting an account and asking this question on a thread that... ...er... ...well... 12. That's maxiporn! Fond memories. I think my Philicorda was exactly like that one, or yours may even be my old one: I seem to recognise the finger wear around the knobs. :-) Great space for a synth on top too. I think I've alreayd commented on the Phat one on another forum. Congrats with both!
13. Ha! Finally something where I can beat RhysP. Three books, and I've looked at a page in one of them.
14. Nope. Didn't know about it, and wouldn't have had the money either back then. I just trawled Europe and the US for unsold ones.
15. Here are them pics. Sorry for their belatedness, or rather my belatedness in taking them:
16.
you should post a pic of your Neptune blue SR's headstock - droolworthy neck - when's the Bongo due?
Hadn't I done so? I'm sure I had in that I-never-understood-people-and-their-NBDs thread. The Bongo is said to be due in December.
17. @AT: Today's spam day, you see. Some of the same stuff goes on at the Dutch bass forum. I guess these sellers have been to a weekend course in forum manipulation.
18. Neptune Blue and a flamed, roasted maple neck? I don't understand the taste that some people have... But each to their own, I guess. Congrats, Dr. T! That's one of the finest ones right there. PS for the uninitiated: I'm a sucker for these, as Dr. T knows very well.
19.
If the humbucker was placed further up (towards the neck) than 53cm, is there any way to guestimate how that will affect the sound?
Not much scientific study has been done into this, but it's a concept that I feel deserves some looking into. That is: IF you are able to pull it off without routing away the truss rod, and given that the pup is indeed not wider than the neck up there. Cool idea! Good luck with this! (Sorry. Couldn't resist.)
20. Hei Åsmund, og velkommen! Do you know the RS 212 at all? I mean, have you heard it with other heads? You see, I think it's a little risky to buy it untried, as it has this rough edgeness to it that might or might not fit the TH OR your taste, though this edge may well disappear in a band mix. I've only heard them with TC heads, and without a band. Exciting cab though, in my mind, and one well worth trying out. Where did you get the TH? I don't see them in Norway anymore.
21. I admit to being a sucker for this kind of I-IV-V-I stuff, and enjoyed it despite the truth in 4 Strings' words, and I lurv it when you get to hear two or three bass tones at the same time like this. What did they do to that singer's voice though? Electro Harmonix Pet Shop Boy pedal in the studio?
22. Thanks, Unca P! Sadly, the cover I mean certainly didn't have the Andy Warhol thing in any form or colour setting, It was a cover like a female singer in the fifties or sixties, with doubt, could have. I vividly remember contemplating the possibility that it indeed was a Marilyn Monroe album, and concluding that it might be. Thanks though! ...but I feel inspired to relate a little story from when I entered a shop with that exact portrait printed on my t-shirt some years later. Upon seeing me with it, the shop owner gladly exclaimed: "Andy Warhol!" Her assistant then bursted out: "You're nuts! That's Jayne Mansfield!"
23. Thanks, Clarky! Another great call, that, and sadly another one I think it isn't. I must admit I had no idea Marilyn Monroe was so omnipresent in punk, post punk, new romantic and whatnot. Or had forgotten, rather. The search continues. From experience, I know these things can take a lot of time. I've investigated some stuff on and off for decades before recently finding the info I had been after all that time (this in a larger project designed to activate my memory and fill out the blanks - after a stroke in '94 and resulting memory loss). Thanks for the help so far! bert
24. Thanks, guys! I didn't want to lock both my memory and your thinking too much, but as I recall it, the cover had the look of an album that just could have been made by Marilyn Monroe herself. I showed it to the shopkeeper, asking whether it was in the wrong section, uponwhich he played it for me so as to "prove" it wasn't. As I'm aware the human memory is evil, I can't be too certain about every detail - or anything really. Dandelion's solution seems charmingly close, but I'm still convinced it was close to 1985, and definitely punk (possibly anarcho). For the time being I'm impressed we even got this far. The Glenn Danzig record was known to me, but I'd never even heard about the Java Jel Band one.
