Only thing I know is that the Ashdown Little Bastard 30 sounds [i]lovely[/i] with guitar, in an Eric Clapton kind of way. I'm selling my guitar amp now because of the LB (no, not selling on BC). That said, it's not one of the tiny lightweights, so may be out of range.

Wouldn't know, JX. I'm just a noob with too much gear curiosity. I'd imagine though that the differences are quite manageable. I just compare with for example lutes, where one might play on 17 strings, and have to manage melody, chords and bass line all at the same time. What's one extra string between friends, eh? But what I do know is that one should be careful in demanding too much handspan too quickly. Keeping our hands free of damage (or what's the English word) is priority number one in my book. You got a teacher? I'll have my first lesson the coming week.

[/quote] Yeah, I'd agree with the general sentiment, but it's not certain these are the same people (unless you checked), and there's always the point of tax returns not always being a viable option in the country you're leaving. Personally, I happily pay my VAT and other taxes, but really hate to pay them twice -- in the process actually paying tax again over the first tax, before we've even mentioned costs.

Can't help with the wattage question. Sorry. There should not be a need to buy anything especially "tubey" or creamy, as that sound already comes from the LB. A good flat cab with good excursion speed and phase correctness (i.e. relatively expensive cabs) should be good. From my limited experience, there is little wrong with the BC 212. However, what I read on BC and other places is this: as it's a ported cab, the LB quite possibly can't control it enough. The damping factor of a valve power stage is virtually non existent. You'd probably be better off with a sealed cab. But if you like the sound of the BC212, there is no real need to shift. Sealed cabs are not a technical requirement for valve amps. Me, I do enjoy my Ashdown LB 112 cabs with the LB30, but those cabs are obsolete, and followed by the very expensive CL range, and to some degree by the cheaper VS range. Here's a serious take from me as well: I tried to avoid trouble when returning with instruments, by already showing the instrumens to customs on the way out. Mind ya, this was expensive stuff. Each time, I could sense that customs didn't want me there, and certainly didn't want the administration of it. One time, I was plainly asked to drop it, and as a result I haven't done it the official way since. Have never had trouble since entering Holland or Norway or the UK, but have always been able to smile friendly at the question "Do you have a receipt?", and answer confidently: "Yup, but it's at home. Didn't fancy bringing it with me." I think the core is in the confidence. b, b
