1. Fellow bassists, I finally went out to buy my long awaited USA P Bass. I was treated badly in the first shop I went to (I won't slag it off as they might have been having a bad day). With a mind-set to avoid the Bass Cellar due to the negative feedback it's been getting, my mate convinced me to just pop in for a look. I browsed without being hassled, then after a while was asked if they could help. The two blokes both called Tom were really friendly and helpful. Not pushy in anyway. To cut a long story short, I bought the bass. I asked if it could have the action lowered, I was willing to pop back later but they did their best to get it done immediately, they did. Was also given two years (unlimited) free set ups. Great service, I highly recommend these guys. THUMBS UP BASS CELLAR!
2. Many thanks for your help guys/gals. Would be happy to buy one off here but have to PX in my Spector LX. It's off to bass gallery for me! Thanks again
3. I intend to buy a P Bass. Looking around the net and have seen some negative views on the USA being overpriced. I've always wanted one and it will be a long while till I have the same amount of money to spend on a bass again so I would appreciate your advice. My budget is around £1000 - £1200 I don't mind a used one. Thanks in advance.
4. Would you be interested in swap with a Spector Euro LX. Has P and J pick ups.
5. There's also an option of buying a used bass and selling it on. Many sellers on eBay don't trust the postal services with a bass so you might pick up a bargain if you travel a bit.
6. There so much talent out there but very little opportunity for the talent.
7. I do put my wife before my bass. The outcome of that is my bass playing skills are improving slowly but my marriage is fantastic. Happy wife = Happy life
8. When I first used Flats I noticed that they didn't flex as easily as roundwounds. I got used to it quickly and haven't looked back since. Enjoy
9. Yep, me too. I rang the number. They were very helpfull. Prompt delivery too.
10.
Footage of DH is beginning to emerge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DbUPjEbIvA
I think he had the same problem with doing his laces, so moved on to Velcro straps! Brilliant vid!
11. It showed just how badly our parcels are treated. Definitely made me think twice about sending/receiving a guitar/bass in the post.
12. The output is so low that I can't get distortion at all on 100% (Fender Rumble 350 combo) There is no sound till I turn the pot at the last 1/8 before max. This happens on both pick ups. The tone control does not make a difference to the sound at all. I have raised the pups which made a slight improvement and fitted new strings which didn't make a difference. I bought it from a shop by post, I won't mention them yet as I hope that they'll eventually return my calls or emails.
13. I have a Walnut Stain Squire Jazz. What is the best product to clean it?
14. I've just bought a used Squire Jazz. The condition is fine but the output is very low. Never having one before I'd like to know if this is normal. I have a cheapy Encore bass which is much louder. Perry
15. I also have one, it's so versatile. Love it!
16. Hope I'm not breaking any rules by saying this but you can have my Hartke A100 for £170. Great for practice, jams and small gigs. The Roland is also a great option to go for as FX makes learning more fun.
17.
Nice one. Keep us updated after your gig... Cheers Geoff
+1
18. Hmm, (scratches chin) I'm not in a band as yet so not sure on the sound required but, playing at home I like a clear sound but with a bit of warmth.
19. Does anyone have an opinion on which is better the Fender 350 or the Hartke Hydrive 210c combo?
20. Are they still there? Website seems to have gone.
21. It's just what I'm looking for but I'm miles away. Ah bugger!
22. I've not had a jam as a bassist before. I'll be buying an amp with enough power to jam with but my question is... The sound I like from practicing, what's the chances of me wanting a different sound when jamming? At the moment I like a full sound, do you guys/girls change your sound when jamming? Perry
