1.
hi perry The guitarist in our band had a similar experience with a mesa boogie amp head he bought off ebay. In his case we phoned the courier & got the usual claim form sent out. after filling it in & sending loads of photos off. and many, many phone calls they sent someone to look it over & asked for us to get quotes on repairing the damage. luckily it wasn't too badly damaged (mostly cosmetic) they did want to take it away for assesment but my mate refused as he didn't think it would come back!! they paid out eventually & the amp is being used constantly so far so good! so best advice is keep pestering them as they have a knack of "forgetting" about it. best of luck davey
Cheers Davey, The amp is not working after the accident. I will chase them up today. Thanks again Perry
2.
Did you get it? £205 is still cheap....
Ahh bugger! I was working nights last night and I missed out on the bidding. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Thanks guys!
3.
looks like a standard mexican pbass i got one off ebay a while back for £150 with hard case was a bargain well made but i dont rate there pickups much
Wow, £150 is cheap. I just hope I have not increased the competition. Many thanks guys!

5. I find it hard to understand how a small amp could sound like an Eden or Ampeg. If you want something to use for practice, maybe you should try a Tascam Bass Trainer. If you just want an amp then just but an amp. If you want effects then get a pedal. When you get, "All In One" things there is always a compromise somewhere. I have tried to re-word this post so I don't come across with an attitude but I cant, sorry. I love my Hartke A100 combo, a nice clean sound, fast response, nice bottom end. Great for practice, jamming or even small gigs. I actually use it more than my Eden setup. I picked it up off the 'Bay for £150 (£249 new)
6. Welcome Fella! Some of us have had good and bad service from all bass shops around London. IMHO You have two choices with your budget: 1) Get a new cheap starter bass. 2) Get a used midrange bass. Either way I'd recommend you to get your bass set-up (proffessionally) Don't forget you'll need a strap, a tuner and a few other accessories, so save some of your budget for those. It's worth you looking at the For Sale items on this forum. If you see any basses for sale on the 'Bay you could always post a link and ask other BCers for advice. Wish you lots of luck and happiness playing bass (well done for not choosing a Gu!t@r). Bass players are much cooler people
7. Well, there's the: P Bass Special Aerodyne Classic P Bass Deluxe P Bass American P Bass American Standard P bass Hope this helps you coz it's giving me a brain ache.
8. I'm GASing for a P Bass, but I have a few questions. 1 Will it sound the same as my Jazz (MIA) if I dont use the humbuckers? 2 Whats the difference with the P basses (Standard/squire/Mexican/usa/Jap) ? The prices vary quite a lot.
9. Had a similar thing with my Fender Jazz Deluxe. A mate brought it back from America. I took it straight to get set up. The truss-rod needed adjusting, on doing so overspray of the varish flaked off from the nut. So I know mine had not been set up before sale. - Shame really.
10. You have practically answered your own question really. Firstly try your bass on another amp set-up, something that will sound good normally. If your happy with the sound the, Hey Presto!" If not try a quality bass on your amp set-up. If it is your set-up then try changing the head then the cab. There is a chance you may have to change that whole lot to get the sound and feel that you like - welcome to the world of GAS
11. I see you are in London. I strongly recommend a guy called Chris Mcintyre he is brilliant. Here is his website http://www.mcintyreguitars.com/ What I like best about him is a straight forward set-up is sometimes done while you wait. He is very passionate about his work. He treats everyone with respect. If you look at his client list you will see it's immpressive. Many times I've been in there and been treated the same as some well known players who were waiting for their set-up too. I wasn't even pushed aside either. He is also cheap!
12. I rarely tweak my Hartke A100 but my David Eden Head is just passed the 2 O' Clock on the bottom end.
13. Imagine a place where your look at lots of basses and amps, even try them out and really enjoy playing without any pressure. Also where the staff are friendly and helpfull knowing that if you were to buy the gear that you'd get good aftersales support. I'd gladly spend an extra 15% over the going rate.
14. Get your wrist problems diagnosed properly and professionaly. Then you will know exactly what you are dealing with and you can get the correct advice and treatment. Don't worry about feeling like a drama queen, it's best to get it treated properly to avoid re-occurence.
15. Hey! Welcome to Basschat! If you have Windows Media Player on your PC then you should not have any problems as it does it for you. I have the CD version, I also love buying new gaggets and toys but can't see what I'd gain by getting the MP3 version. CDR's are so cheap anyway.
16. it is freezing here in Galsgow, blowing a gail... Well all I can say is, Lucky Gail!
17. I downsized from a Ashdown MAG 2X10 combo to a Hartke A100 which has plenty of guts to jam with. I can carry it with one hand and it makes my Jazz sound great. I picked mine up from the bay for £150. Hartke do a 60 watt version which will be worth trying out and would be lighter to carry too.
18. I agree with the above. A quality used amp would be my preference too.
19. The company was Interlink, I personaly wouldn't blame them as when it got sent out it went to a "hub" in Birmingham then another company took it to Ireland. The guys at Interlink were helpful even when I told them about the damage. After telling the guys at work two of them used to work for parcel/couriers. They both said it was common practice to throw any item that had "Fragile" on it. When it comes to loading and un-loading the quicker it's done the quicker they can get back in the warm playing cards or pool.
20. What have you got to loose? Go for it and enjoy! At the risk of sounding like a knob, what's Dep?
21. Well, got the claims form in the post. I've sent off the form so it's just a case of sitting back and waiting.
22. It was also recommended to me, I really wanted to walk out with a bass that day but I just felt so uncomfortable.
23. I guess that the last thing you wanna hear is, "Leave the band" Most of the replies are saying that. I am sorry to say that I also agree mate. It is scary starting out with new faces and when you're quite new with any instrument. I'm not very experienced but most of the other members on here are, looks like you should bite the bullet and got for it. Hope all goes well.
