1. Just about to put my 5-stirng T-Bass up for sale.
2.
Never would have guessed Jenny Haan as BR were one of those bands that passed me by, the only reason I know of them is that they get mentioned in relation to Bernie Marsden but didn't know any other band memebrs by name.
Funnily enough the last line-up with Marsden had a different singer, Ellie Hope. From a pop act, Liquid Gold. Not v good.
3. Used to be mine - I paid same for it without case so a bargain I'd say. M
4. Thanks for this - great stuff! Sounds live but drums don't seem to be miked up. Took me back to my youth.
5. Thanks Jack - direct link works. I have recently acquired one of these beauties (5-string) and it's three times as loud as anything else I own! Haven't yet decided if I will keep as five strings and me don't always mix - but if I don't I would dearly love to swop it for a four-stringer. EXTRA: Having read this now, I take issue with the reviewer that the two controls towards the bridge are active bass and treble. Mine seem to be tone and boost respectively... Still v useful review though.
6. Can't see the link described on the page - help! M
7. One of my best gigs and one of my worst. Best 1977 (Hammersmith Odeon), worst early 80s (a 50-minute show at the Venue, Victoria, when they were doing two a night). I might risk it!
8. He's doing a one man show on 9 Jan at the Powerhouse Studios in Chiswick. I may well attend...
9. Doc - pm me with your address. I haven't received it yet but I am a quick reader
10. Bought my Kramer bass and was as communicative as can be. Absolutely no problems, and I have never sold a bass abroad (Belgium) before. Thank you Amo!
11. Sold to a very nice gentleman from Belgium! And thanks for the video Gust0o - great stuff.
12. Bought my Kingbass and was a very nice fella. Good communications, too. Deal with confidence as they say.
13. Deke Leonard of Man is quite the writer if you want sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. Though as his publisher I admit I am biased... Order through this website before Xmas, quote Basschat and deduct £2 off the price of any of his three titles. 14. Bump for an affordable classic that sets you apart from the crowd!
15.
Just about to put my Fender Kingman onto the market - watch this space in next 12 hrs. M
Just listed...
16. Acoustic bass in as new condition except for slight thumb 'shadow' on scratch plate. Any other 'marks' are reflections. Does a good job as an unamplified practise instrument, and has plenty of controllable power through an amp. I now use a fretless for my folk gig, so it sits in a nice hard case all the time. 17. Took this affordable classic in a trade earlier this year, and it's comfortably the most active passive bass I have ever played. My band (who never take any notice of basses) actually recognise this one and deem it the best-looking one I have. It is, however, a victim of the 'one in, one out' rule. DiMarzio pickup (hence DMZ) combines with two mini toggles to give an astounding number of tonal options, from Precision to Stingray (I kid you not). Given this is 35 years old, it it in phenomenal shape and comes with a new luxury gig bag. Like Concorde, there will be no more aluminium-necked basses, so get yourself a piece of history that's cool-looking, not too expensive and above all playable. 19. Hear hear. Sent me a precision ashtray cover and said 'put a fiver in the Macmillan tin.' Salt of the earth!
