1. We've switched to shoes now, Shockwave - do keep up.mate!
2. +1 Good idea - and I appreciate your tip, Chris, even if the wife didn't! Many thanks. Thanks to someone else's tip I picked up a Sub a few months ago which I sold on to Mark of this parish at the same price I paid, so if nothing else it's broadening my horizons at little cost to me.
3. Cheers Rayman. Being a Bass(World)Chatter has given me the chance to play on more basses than I ever thought posisble - in last 2 yrs a Precision 51, Warwick, MM Sub and now this. Even if I don't keep it, it will be a bit of fun. I aim to keep my 73 Precision forever. It was born the year I left school, so we have something in common. What did you like about the Thunderbird and why did you let it go?
4. Curse you, Beedster, that's another week's housekeeping the Missus ain't gonna get!
5. The cover of my Trace 1215 combo got incinerated when someone left it on one of our light arrays. (Mind you, it was funny seeing them in the toilets try to scrape the black plastic off the bulbs!) Where can I get a recommended replacement? And yes, the band fund is paying!
6.
Unfortunatley shes showing her age, and until I can find someone to bring her back to life and be able to afford it she will have to be stored away.
If you're talking about Amy $hitehouse, I hope you thriow the key away!
7. Late news - they've been taken over and renamed Send It Sometime Soon...
8.
Just a heads up, someone from here might want it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/John-Taylor-Duran-Du...1QQcmdZViewItem
The case is enough to put me off!
9.
26 years old !?! Erm ... does that mean you take them off every so often and give them a wipe along with the fret board, or give them a dust while still tuned or that you've never cleaned them or the fret board ever?
I give em a post-gig wipe occasionally but never take them off.
10. I bought my bass in 1981. It still has the same strings on it now!
11. Delighted to report that this fella bought my SUB and handed me over an envelope of £20 notes for it. Charming chap; I can recommend him.

13. Please add your feedback from trades, etc, here. Eyethangewe!
14. Stop hijacking my fantasy! All right, you can have Gwen and the monkeys...
15. Here's one on the bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BASS-GUITAR-Fender-P...1QQcmdZViewItem But is it really as old as it's claimed?
16. I play in two bands, a 6 piece 'party' band with two guitars and sax, and a 'clssic rock' band which is guitar-bass-drums vocals. Both have turned their nose up at everything else I've brought along - 5-string Warwick, 4-string MusicMan, both lovely instruments - and prefer the Precision as most suitable for their music. I guess it was the bass originally used on most of the stuff we play = 50s Motown and blues on the one hand, 70s straight rock on the other... There's no variety, just a reassuring 'thunk' - at least the way I play it! Doesn't push its way where it's not wanted (competition!) but fills the gap it needs to. Doesn't help, does it? But if you sell yours I might find I need another
17. [I sold mine (a five-string) for £280, I think it was, a few months ago. So you ain't far off. Good basses, but saleability has been hit by the Rockbass phenomenon, I feel. If this was still regarded as 'entry level Warwick' it would automaticlaly go quicker. But have a bump on me. Nice example...
18. Don't forget to SMILE! Always works for me.
19. Be interested to know what people think of him, why you rate him (or not) and why he was so successful - in bass playing terms, rather than hanging out with three weirdos EDIT: I should add that I'm writing an article on him next week and will happily and shamelessly nick your ideas!
20. It's wonderful to be here, It's certainly a thrill. You're such a lovely audience, We'd like to take you home with us. |I met the Bootleg Beatles today - well, John and George!
