1. Don't whatever you do get into a Mark/David Knopfler situation!
2. That is no surprise. He was conducting the audience for the last 2 numbers. Commiserations to those who will have to wait.
3. Just woken up in Cardiff after their show. Pino (local boy) played a 57 P bass ( looked like) all night. Daltrey lost his voice; don't know how he will do the O2 gigs on Weds/Thurs!
4. Jo taught me for a while a couple of years ago. His main 4-string bass is/was a Japanese Fender Jazz; I have since bought one too!
5. I also recommend his new (not new now, but latest) album Memphis. Stripped back bluesy stuff that's very well worth listening to.
6. Bought another bass from me - still a top man and recommended! M
7. Bump for price reduction. Could there be a better Christmas present for a male or female six-stringer?
8. I am a music writer and historian, so have gathered many books in the course of my 35-year career. Now I am retiring I am looking to dispose of them in a job lot. I will be doing a proper detailed inventory in the next couple of days, but this is a heads up for anyone who might be interested in having a list of what's on offer as soon as I complete it. I want to avoid having to eBay individual items - i'd much rather someone has the lot and will use/appreciate them as I have. The books are mostly encyclopaedias and histories of genres (rock, soul, jazz, country, etc), with quite a few American publications mixed in - and yes, there's a selection of instrument-based volumes too. Around 250 in total, I'd guess. PM for a list if you're interested. Thanks
9. Daevid Allen health bulletin from last month: hope he makes it! On 1st October daevid's course of radiotherapy was completed. During the last phase of treatment it was decided to double the level of radiation and double the number of sessions to two per day. Consequently daevid is frail as could possibly be, far below shattered, very quiet and as Turiya e-mailed, "very introverted", he has also lost a lot of weight - but most importantly the cancer is gone. Now comes the slow journey back to being a healthy, happy, independent 77 year old. When he decided to embrace the radiotherapy course of action daevid said he would commit himself completely and utterly for the duration, and do whatever 'they' said needed to do done. Then, when it was all over, he would commit himself totally to naturopathic pathways back to wellness -
10. Alex Welcome to the best bass-playing website ever! I will be passing thru Perth round about this time next year on a 'geriatric gap year' - maybe we can hook up for a tinnie!
