  1. Bought my Who box set - can’t think of a more appropriate owner. The man’s a legend!
  2. After three years (and much bitching by me on this board), we showed our singer/harmonica player the door in September. He lasted three years before we found him insufferable - like Bryan Ferry, he thought he was the band, and eventually the worms turned. His replacement lasted four gigs before venting his spleen on WhatsApp and walking. His long list of perceived faults made it clear why he’s not been in a band for years. Decent singer though. I was away for the second and third gigs he did, which were apparently marred by him fiddling with the PA between every number. Fortunately on Saturday he had to sing sitting down (bad back) and it was my PA, so we did okay. Well, I thought we did! My question is - how do you attract a frontman who doesn’t want to change things? They will have their own style and ideas, sure, but I don’t want to bin three years’ work to conform with their wishes. Nor do I want to make another bad choice which could potentially sink us. We are a blues band, but not a straight-down-the-line one that plays 24 songs the same way every night. Thanks for your input as ever, BC.🙏
  3. This is home, and I am more than happy to contribute to the rent… Have a Cool Yule, y’all (did I really type that - fine me now!😂)
  4. Indeed. There was a bit of fallout wasn’t there? Naturally she got the credit. It happens… I knew the keyboard player on Sinead O’Connor’s first album who was sacked as soon as she broke through. He went on to be Art Editor of Radio Times, so a happy ending there.
  5. I kinda lost her as she wended her way Shania-wards. The first album was a cracker wasn’t it!?
  6. My wife is actually going to watch this. She is to be fair a concertina player…
  7. Or go on Strictly Come Dancing…
  8. Blimey. Welsh National Opera! Impressed…
  9. Have you had them? Were they worth it? Discuss, please…
  10. Tom bought a CD from me, paying well before I could deliver. Trusted and trustworthy Basschatter.
  11. Last gig of 2024 at the Glamping Site in Poole, Dorset that’s supported us (the Otis Jay Blues Band) for the past few years. Singer did his back in so sat, but he and we coped - with a few Val Doonican jokes on the way… Got Cath and Kerry to do backing vocals on Mustang Sally and they did us proud. Flea jazz, Elf, Barefaced One10, Xmas jumper - you can’t go wrong !
  12. Did this sell?
  13. That’s very kind of you @meterman. I might even return the favour and review it for Record Collector if you like. No problem if not, I am interested regardless. When in 2007 I joined BC, I had quit my football team Fulham and followed Farnborough in non-League home and away. Hence the boro; you’re not the first person to relocate me😀. I have now returned to Fulham as my sons are season-ticket holders, but catch Boro every so often. Not as good a story as yours, sorry…
  14. Ta. I will get this - sounds interesting!
  15. Looking good my friend. You’re clearly the ‘babe magnet’ of the outfit😂
  16. What were you called? I am intrigued!
  17. My voice lacks individual character but I like to think my harmonies add something to the whole. Choir training ‘endured’ 50 years ago wasn’t wasted …
  18. Owzat for a balls-up? 🏉 🏏
  19. That sort of mistake could happen anyway, anyhow, anywhere…😂
  20. I once tried to play four and five stringed basses in the same set - managing to be a consistent semitone out on the newly acquired latter! No b@stard noticed as far as I am aware, but I’ve never tried it again. 😂
  21. You paid to put that on a T-shirt?😂
  22. If you have to ask… 😂
  23. Went on tour with Maiden in a reporting capacity on the Powerslave tour. Nicko was great value and entertaining, as I recall. A decade or two later I interviewed Bruce on the phone. The line went dead, and after several tries I called another number in his office. Turned out, to the amusement of all, that he’d been yakking to no-one for at least five minutes😁
  24. I once watched the Ox from 10 feet away in Abbey Road studios, a small benefit gig for Tony Ashton. An experience never to be forgotten.
  25. Publishers have used articles i have written for magazines on the web and not paid me a cent! At the end of the day the publisher as was doesn’t exist - if you can trace the author his approval would be nice and would probably ensure no comeback.
