1. Second gig with Crimson Clocks yesterday, at an outdoor festival. Weather was awful but the set went well and we got a lot a positive comments afterwards which is always good.
2. Here's the one I've been in for a while http://www.facebook.com/BroadarrowJack And the new one - not much on there yet, doing our first gig on Sunday http://www.facebook.com/CrimsonClocks
3. Hi, I'm not linked to the band so can't answer any questions, but this may be of use to someone. Fantastik 4 are looking for a bass player, they are an original/covers band from Burton - gigging most weekends in local area & beyond - rock/pop background & backing vocals preferable & involvement in writing - age 20+ Website is http://www.fantastik4.co.uk/index.php Contact details can be found here http://www.fantastik4.co.uk/contact.php Hope this is of use.
4.
Yep, totally! I've always been in at least two bands and this is the golden rule. I also make it clear to bands that I will absolutely not be available to rehearse 2-3 times a week. I get the songs/tabs/guitar pro files sent to me and I practice at home! One practice every so often is great as you do need to make sure you're working with eachother and performing well and stuff... But paying out loads of money going over the same songs over and over again is pointless if you're all dedicated enough to do it at home
Completely agree with the above, I am in two bands at the moment and don't get to all the rehearsals that they do. I do make (low quality) recordings of the songs when there and play along to those at home a lot - this has been a massive help. I also give priority to the band that has the nearest gig (time wise), which is going to get interesting as they are both playing the same one in the near future.
5. Reminds me of Primus, without being a clone . Like it a lot.
6. I've got an Ibanez SR506 which doesn't seem to have that problem. According to a book by Gary Willis, attaching small weight's in the body will help - he recommends ones you can get from shops selling model railways. I haven't tried that so can't say how effective it would be.
7. Washburn Precision, love the tone but hate the action height and the way the balance makes the neck drop continually.
8. I think it says volumes about the kind of people you would have been joining, I agree that they do it because they can. I've recently experienced it from the other side while auditioning for a guitarist - arranging meetings with people who then failed to show up.
9.
It's really flattering when they do that innit? Of course some people say I deliberatly court that sort of response by writing hooky choruses that go 'Oooooo Oooooo'...
Sounds good to me (and them obviously).
10. Ours was pretty good, people were up and dancing, one of the most receptive crowds we've ever had. Some that had seen us a few times before were joining in with the chorus to one of the songs - first time I've heard a bunch of people singing something I'd written, made my night .
11. Try playing The Lost Art of Keeping A Secret by Queens of the Stone Age, it's one I always get a kick out of.
12. Really like all of these, they sound great.
13. Wanted to say I practice a lot, but you'd never know it from the way I play live
14. I agree, I've always tried to do covers note for note - partly because if that's how the original was then that's how I feel I ought to play it, and partly to stop people like me in the audience pointing out the simplified parts
15. That's really good, made nice start to my morning
16. I seem to remember that they weren't a grunge band, could be wrong though
17. I've been on stage while alternating between sweating and then shivering. Really didn't want to be there at all that night, had no concentration at all but got through it. I had been like that for a couple of days before though.
18. Do it, it looks like it would be a great laugh.
19. Here's the band playing at a gig while Beyonce is doing a costume change
