1. Any chance of some photos please Cetera?
2.
400 sovs is just a bit pricey for that, I think. These do come up occasionally & usually go for less than half that - in fact I've seen a project one (one pickup & other bits missing) go for well under a ton, nearly went for it myself. The Epi ET series were Matsumoku built - there were Aria versions of some which were identical apart from the headstock shape. Jon.
Cheers for that Jon. Wasn't sure if it was worth that or not, just thought it was bloody nice. I may watch it and see if it gets relisted at a lower price. But I've seen it now, I must have one!
3. You lucky bar-steward! I wanted that Squier VM, but I'm insanely broke at the minute Did you take it with the extra bits i.e tuners/bridge/pickup or just take it as stock? Either way was a bargain. I'd love one of those Squier Musicmasters too, the bassist from Bedouin Soundclash used one when I saw them at the QMU in Glasgow last year, it sounded pretty nice.
4. I'll give you fifty quid for the 73/77. That's beaut, certainly has acquired some mojo over the years!
5. I Googled them, you can get one for under £200, which is about the same as the Standard Series. Link here I quite fancy one of the Precisions though.
6. Epi ET-280 That is sexy. Move the strap button and it'd be perfect! Man, if I had £400... I'd probably have to spend it on rent and bills.
7.
MB1. ...DUNNO?...."What did you pay for her?"
+1
8. What would postage be on this? I bought the 4X10 version of this a few months ago and it cost £30 to send it.
9.
what he said!
At least I'm not the one getting married! A friend of mine was at a wedding last year where the groom was wearing converse with his suit. Actually now I think about it, the friend of my dad mentioned earlier in the thread was best man at his friends wedding, spent about £500 on a new tweed suit, and £20 on a pair of new blue Converse Also, in that (Mastercard?) advert where the naked man's running and uses his credit card to pick up new clothes and get cleaned up on his way to his wedding, he's wearing Converse too. Seems to be a popular idea
10.
I buy Lonsdale copies from Sports World, when they're in stock. Unless you're a badge snob, they come in at around £7 a pair and I think they're better quality ;p As for why musicians wear them... Well, I find they're good pedal stompin' shoes at least!
Not a label snob as such, but there are subtle differences in the design that put me off the copies, to me they don't look quite right. Dunlops are brilliant though, the same basic thing, but chunkier and more durable, but they don't look like poor copies.
11.
"Tell that to kids these days and they don't believe you ...."
Well, I'm still a kid myself pretty much (21). I started wearing them because my dad's friend - who I believe is in his mid-50s - has worn them for as long as I can remember. He runs an outdoor adventure kind of place in Botswana and used to take 3 pairs out there and would just be on his third pair when he returned 9 months later. Being back in Scotland finished the last pair off though
12. Yep, red tortoise shell for me too. Although, black would look good too, but tort, definitely!
13. Yep, I've been wearing them for years now, but then Nike took them over, they became more popular and as the prices went up, the quality dropped rapidly. They're nowhere near as durable as they used to be even 4 years ago. Sad times.
14. Can anyone point me in the direction of a comprehensive online guide to setting up a bass? It's something I feel I should be able to do myself and I want to learn! Alternatively, can anyone recommend any books on the subject?
15. +1 on the OLP. Would you deliver it too?
16.
You might want to edit the title to Musicmaster!
What did it say before?
17. How do? I've recently bought a pair of Converse, size 9, same as these ones here. I've bought them for a wedding I'm going to in 2 weeks, so I need them for that, but after that I can't see me wearing them after that. I dunno if this is the right section to put them in, but they're not for free, but for trade. I'm looking for a pair of 'Classic' Converse, black canvas/white rubber or similar, same size. Anyone interested? PM me! Jono
18. Phwoar! That pink Squier's lovely! I want!
19. That Rockbass is great, never been tempted by one until now, but they need to sort out that jack socket and put an input on the edge instead of that fugly Strat one. Very nice precision too, but why did you get rid of the tort scratchplate?!?!?!? Sacrilege!
20. I haven't tried the Hartke stuff but I really liked all the Ashdown stuff I've used (and use). The sound does lean towards the vintage side of things, it's not gonna be suitable for a black metal band or anything, but if you take some time to mess with the EQ you can get some nice warm sounds out of it. I thought the MAG 300 head worked very nicely with distortion. l I definitely agree with the fault being down to the user, or their settings. My amp can sound woolly when it's flat but that's what the EQ is there for, as it's already been pointed out.
21. You may be better to split too. A lot of people don't which puts me off for sure, some folk are just looking for an amp and others are just looking for a cab. It might be an idea to post it too. It's a bit of hassle for you trying to box it and such, but you could always get the potential buyer to organise pickup and delivery. I don't think many would be pissed if you stuck an extra fiver or tenner on top for your hassle. Just throwing it out there, but it may open up your potential market. There were a couple of people who wouldn't post their cabs when I was looking to buy, which was a real kick in the sh*tt*r. Anyway, by not splitting/posting what you're looking for is someone in your area who's looking for this exact rig.
22. Kramer. The seller reckons it might be a one off. Looks pretty sharp regardless.
23. White. Or Black. Or Sunburst. I'm not much help, but any of those 3 would look sweet with a maple neck and tortoise-shell pickguard.
24. I agree with Wil's comment in the original topic, if they re-issued the DC bass I'd be in there like a shot. They do sound amazing though. I used to have a Dano U2 guitar (my first guitar actually, not bass), and it was lovely. I wish I still had it That was my 'one that got away'.
