I've just had a Mighty Mite neck put on my Marcus Miller Jazz and it's excellent, really nice and comfy to play with the satin finish. The only issue I had was that the heel of the neck was too big for the neck pocket on the body, so I had to have a tech widen the pocket to take the neck. There were a few sharp fret ends and the tuner holes were slightly too big for the Hipshot bushings I had, but they're great necks and a total bargain to boot.

Dimarzio ClipLock strap in black. I'm looking to get rid of it as even at it's shortest length it's still just a bit too long for my liking. The picture above is not one of my own, but just to show you what it's like. It cost £18 new, I'm looking for £10 inc. postage. EDIT: I had 2, sold one, now I'm looking to sell the second one
Oh yeah, and where do you order a new neck for a Marcus Miller from?
It's not a Marcus Miller neck sadly, it's just a maple Mighty Mite one. Taking it to the shop to have it fitted on Friday.
passive pickups will be fine - most active basses have passive pickups and a preamp.
Cheers, I was thinking about sticking in a set of Wizards or Dimarzios but didn't want to buy a set of passives only to find that the pickups wont work with the preamp.

Would I be able to change the pickups in my Fender Marcus Miller Jazz and still use the pre-amp? As far as I can work out, it's 2 passive J-Bass pickups, with an optional 2 band pre-amp that I can switch in and out. In passive mode the MM sounds quite weedy, which is why I was thinking of changing the pickups. If I do, is it just a straight swap, or do I need active pickups or anything like that?

I'm tempted to go and have a look at this if it's still there, it's just around the corner from where I work. No pictures though. Epiphone Thunderbird

Picture time! If you look closely, you can see a few dings from where I tried taking the tuner bushings out. After that I decided to push the rest through from the back rather than trying to lever them out from the front This is a failed attempt to give a close up shot of the grain, but you get the idea. It is a nice grain. -
I'm replacing the WD neck that I currently have on my Marcus Miller Jazz. I'll admit that I did have a few issues with the neck, mainly the thickness of the heel which mean that the strings were miles away from the pickups, but someone with more skill and patience than I could take a few millimetres off to get the strings down to a more managable height. That's thickness of the heel from fingerboard down, not width, by the way. As the neck has been on the Marcus Miller, it has been drilled for a 3 bolt neck plate, not the standard 4 bolt. However, it should be easy enough to fill the third hole and drill 2 more to make it a normal fit. I've no pictures until I can get at my girlfriend's camera tonight, but here's a link to the WD site which is where I bought it from in June: Maple Jazz Neck The review on there is one I left, although I should point out that on further inspection, the heel of the neck isn't quite as squared off as I thought, and fitting was fairly easy. I paid £170 in June but as I'm looking to get rid of it quite quickly, how does £70 sound? It is a nice, fast neck and the sharp edges to the fingerboard I mentioned in the review on the WD site have been nicely worn in. Pictures will be up from tomorrow. Cheers Jono EDIT: Should also point out that the headstock has been drilled for a string retainer on the front and Hipshot HB-2 60s style machine heads on the back
