Wiring a P Bass without a tone control
Jono Bolton replied to Jono Bolton's topic in Repairs and Technical
Excellent, it's not often I get this sort of thing right! The only thing that really threw me was the wire connecting the jack to the outer casing of the tone pot, I wasn't sure if it was totally necessary or not. Cheers! -
Hi I'm getting a P Bass scratchplate cut for just a single volume pot and a jack, but I'm a novice when it comes to wiring so I though I'd post here to ask for some advice. I've attached a diagram for P Bass wiring, and I guess my question is, if I were to follow the diagram but leave out the Tone pot and capacitor, would that work? That would be connecting the white wire from the pickup to the left hand tab on the volume pot a wire, a wire connecting the middle tab to the jack socket, and the black wire from the pickup and the right hand tab both grounded to the casing. Has anyone done this before or does anyone have enough know-how with wiring to tell me if this will work? Thanks

Smaller saddles for my Gotoh201 bridge?
Jono Bolton replied to Twigman's topic in Repairs and Technical
The wilkinson bridge is a good piece of kit. I have one on my Squier MD and it looks the biz. Wizard 84s (pair)

I've got a pair of Wizard 84 Jazz Bass pickups (bridge and neck) for sale. They've been installed in my MIM Jazz for a couple of years now but since I got my P Bass last year I don't think I've even plugged my Jazz in except for earlier today to check the pickups still work. They do, and they give some great tones, and are in very good condition. As I'm not using them I thought I'd move them on to someone who will get use out of them and try to raise some funds towards a new electric guitar (sorry!) £50 ono No Paypal, bank transfer, cheque, postal order or cash on collection please! Thanks EDIT: Now SOLD! -

Hi This is now for sale, a cherry red Epiphone EB-3. It's in great condition, a few light scratches on the back and on the scratchplate and that's it. The action's good and it's nice to play, could do with a new set of strings though. This was for trade but after an ill-advised hour-long phone call to my pal in Australia I need to find some cash ASAP and as this isn't getting used it'll have to be sacrificed to the gods of Vodafone! The price is £100, unfortunately it's collection only from Glasgow as I don't have anything to package it with, or I'd be up for a train journey anywhere roundabout as I'm off work for the next 2 weeks. You're best to text me with any queries, on 07799714508

Hi all A tentative feeler here, I've got an Ashdown ABM-300 Evo II head and ABM 210T cab. I don't really want to sell it but I'm having to move and need money for a deposit on a new flat, so I might have to move these on. I paid £300 for the head about 3 years ago, and bought the cab about 2 and half years ago for £220. I'm looking for £375 for the pair, or I can split if needed, £225 and £150 respectively, but I can't post it unfortunately. I've no pictures at the moment as it's currently on loan to a friend, the head has a few superficial scuffs but is in full working order, the cab is in very good condition except for a wee bit on one of the back corners where my pet rabbit had a wee chew on it. It's not too bad, and is currently covered with black duct tape. I can try and aarange for people to try it out if they want to, I'll see if I can get some pictures ASAP too. Any questions give me a PM, or you can text me on my mobile number on my profile on here, under "Interests". EDIT: Collection would be from Glasgow, it's in Hyndland in the West End just now.

First Bass Owned: Peavey Foundation. The butt of many jokes which you'd only really get if you went to school in Scotland and did you Standard Grades! 'Go To' Bass: Recently re-aquired Fender P 'Your' Bass: Same again, to the extent that I'm seriously considering getting rid of my other two basses, I could do with the cash more than two basses taking up space and gathering dust
Sage Green Metallic. It kinda changes colour depending on what light it's in!
That's what I thought, but it's hard to tell in that light! I've got one in the same colour!

New neck is too big for the neck pocket!
Jono Bolton replied to aceuggy's topic in Repairs and Technical
I had a Mighty Mite neck on my old Marcus Miller Jazz and when I got the neck it was a bit too wide for the neck pocket, even though it was a Fender body and a Licensed by Fender neck. I took it to GuitarGuitar in Glasgow and had it put together, the tech widened the neck pocket to fit the neck for a tight fit, drilled the neck for the bolts and set it up too, cost about £80 all in. I'm sure the body probably is a genuine Fender, it's just that the neck is slightly oversized.
