1. Make them an offer for the bass, perhaps you can get it for a low price!
2. Tasteful mods, nice to see someone modding a Squier and not putting a Fender logo on. I don't care for the plates personally as they get in the way of my playing but some like them. I hope you enjoy your bass!
3. He's skilled, unique and everyone (himself included) seem to enjoy it, as I did. I don't see the problem .
4. This bass is ++AWESOME++!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why buy the real thing for less when you can buy this cheap copy for more! ++GREAT DEAL++ Best bass I've ever played!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5.
One on Gumtree right now. http://www.gumtree.c...uitar/101648747
Thanks dude, I always check Gumtree but I didn't think of it this time! I'll make an offer when I get paid on Monday.
6. Thanks for replying, I'm a fan of shell pink; is the pink they have shell pink or a different tone? I may just wait till one pops on ebay, I kind of like all the colours they do anyway. I would get the CAR but I already have a CAR bass (my only bass) so I'd like something different.
7. I've always been a fan of the Mosrite shape and just discovered the 'Aria DMB-380'. Once more the "configuration" of this basses is exactly what I'm looking for. I've never seen one of these in person and highly doubt any music shop near me has one in stock so I would like to know if anyone here has any kind of experience with these... perhaps even with Aria in general. I also would like to know if the nut is more like a Precision or Jazz and where these are made (I'm guessing Korea?). Ultimately I'd like a white one but can't find anywhere in the UK with these in stock in that colour. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get one of these without dealing with overseas? Perhaps a dealer? Thanks!
8. Alright, I'll highlight the non aesthetic differences. American special Slimmer neck ("slim taper"?) - subjective but, I like this. Don't get this confused with a Jazz nut width, they are different things. This is the "C" shape width on the back which is slimmer. It has the same nut width as the 70's bass. Graphite rods - IMO better, won't need much adjustment, less prone to warping and dead frets. Greasebucket circuit - not sure how I feel about this, I'd most likely change the electronics on both basses anyway Medium Jumbo frets - I'd probably prefer the smaller "vintage" frets of the 70's but frets don't make much of a difference in my playing to care. Satin neck finish - far better in my hands, feels nice and quick to play. Gloss looks nice though but I don't like playing on it. USA made 70's Thumb rest - good for finger players, 90% of the time I use a pick so it doesn't affect me much. Tuners - I like these ones more, feel nicer and have a true classic look. Vintage truss rod - Will need standard adjustments, I'm not sure if they are different to your regular fender ones which are prone to dead spots and the usual. Has the vintage stripe accross the back and block below logo. Japan made. The 70's is cool, It's what an actual "pawn shop" precision may look like. It looks very unique and I like it. The white would look awesome with black hardware. I feel Japans quality control is on par with the USA so don't let it affect your decision. The Special is more traditional with some modern touches. I wanted a 70's style bass but with modern features. I prefer the look and features on this bass and the CAR gets me nostalgic over a guitar I once had but had to sell for financial reasons.I actually prefer this bass over any of the USA line and love it's features. I can't wait for mine to arrive! The most important thing to me when buying a bass is the neck, if there's somthing I don't like about a neck on a bass then I just sell the bass. Hope this helps.
9. Well I have an american special on order because it is the closest spec Precision made to what I'm after. CAR + maple is dreamy .
10. Nice to see somthing new. Don't like any enough to actually consider getting though.
11. This thread went so off topic that I was confused for a while and had to re-read a few times. Then I realised you were referring to an avatar picture (none display on my screen). Anyway, don't the older Jags have a matching headstock? I heard they almost always require after-market shielding but are great basses. I love the CAR matching with blocks ones! Perhaps one day I may pick one up.
12.
Well, you could build from Ibuprofen to Heroin, if the pain becomes more severe. It's what Keith would do
Classic
13. Made me think of this, perhaps yours isn't quite so severe if it is this.
14.
Good beard too.
x3
15. That is by FAR the nicest SG bass I've ever seen Good luck with the sale!
16. Well I personally would never own more than 2, I don't even own a single bass at the moment because I've sold the one I had and am waiting for delivery of a "replacement". I don't really have a problem with anyone owning any amount of basses as long as they can finance it and it doesn't clutter up the house driving people crazy . I have a P coming, I could see myself getting an l2000 eventually just to cover all the tones I want.
17. I always forget about the Squier, which is also great. Squier do a Jaguar bass which is also very nice, there's a huge thread over on talkbass about it.
18. I feel for you, this must suck. I would definitely find a specialist who has done this sort of woodwork before to look at this. Hope it all goes well!
19. What's your budget? My choice will always be a Fender Mustang. The MIJ go for around £450, USA (only made 66-81/82) go for at least double.
20.
This would be my view. A P doesn`t necessarily "cut" more, but due to the natural tone, it has more presence.
This. It mostly comes with a fatter neck which is a big deal to me as well as others (I like to keep my basses fairly stock). I've seen a few polls on preference and it's generally 50/50 but with a slight majority liking the P bass more.
