I think you'd get more for it on Ebay, provided you're ok shipping abroad. People are being very cautious here, understandably, whereas the Australians have a currency advantage ... a £500 bass on UK ebay 2 years ago would have been about 1165 Aus$, now it would be 850.

Out of half a dozen basses I've sold over the past 3-4 years (one of which was a Rebop 5, just to stay in touch with the topic), only 1 went to a UK buyer. The rest went to France, Spain, Italy and more recently Australia, where they seem to have money to burn. If I was looking for another Spector, it would be a Czech one. I couldn't see anything lacking in the Rebop that a US build could make that much better.

Sold Steve a Line6 Backtrack, payment was instant and he's great to deal with all round. Phil

+1 for Interparcel. I generally take the Economy service with UPS through them and it's very reliable. When the UPS man notices you've had a new floor in the hall, you know you've spent too much time on eBay and Basschat.

It's strange really, people will happily pay a fortune for their Apple iThing made in China. It's only because guitar makers have managed to sell the association of Made in America with quality.
I'd love a fake Squier. I think that putting so much importance on a name written on something is the wrong bit. If people judge how good something was by how good it was, there wouldn't be a problem.
Well ... if a bass has a Fender or Gibson label on it, that should tell you certain things about it - for example where it may have been made, with what quality of materials, to what standards of workmanship. You may not like them, and there may be variations between one instrument and another, but broadly you know what to expect. If the manufacturer lets those standards slip, as has happened at various times, then their reputation takes a hit. So if Hung So Lo company in China makes cheap basses with their label on, that is ok, they will either acquire a reputation for value (as Rondo and Bach have done), or they won't. If they sell tat basses with Fender and Gibson labels on, and conceal their origins, then how do we know what is going on? It's ok-ish on a chinese web site, as it's fairly obvious what is going on, but it's a wholesale site, so those instruments can find their way to dealers here and onto eBay, and then people get ripped off.

First up, a Seymour Duncan Antiquity Single Coil Precision pickup. I put this in my 51 RI Precision, it should fit any 51 RI style P, such as the Squier Classic Vibe 50s P. Output is 6.48 ohms. To be honest I didn't think it had enough umph and put the stock pickup back, but it may suit someone else better. Comes with original box, cloth bag, wiring diagram, letter from Seymour Duncan and output tag. Authentic cloth wiring, all intact with screws and spacers. Price £30 including post to UK address. [s]Second, a DeArmond Starfire pickup with cosmetic issues, in that the gold foil around the poles is gone (it tears easily), the chrome of the pickup surround is worn away and the poles themselves are corroded. It has soldering posts, but no wire. There are fixing screws, of unknown provenance, not all the same length. Apart from that it's lovely. It's about 10cm long x 6.5 cm wide x 3cm deep (to the bottom of the height adjusting screws. Would look cosmetically poor on a Starfire, unless you can refurbish it, or it might do for a single pickup project bass. £5 posted.[/s] SOLD

I bought this thinking I would record at rehearsals, but I'm just too lazy, despite the fact it requires no effort whatsoever. It's a Line6 Backtrack. The basic way you use it is to connect it inline between the bass/guitar/other instrument and the amp. Switch it on and it waits for you to start playing, then records till you stop. Then it saves it to a wav file and waits for the next passage. More details on the Line6 website http://line6.com/backtrack/specs.html. You can transfer the files to a computer using the supplied (and very short) USB cable. No box or manual (but manual available on website as PDF). In good working condition. This is the basic version, without the built-in microphone. As it's a line input, you would need a preamp to record from a mic, or possibly take a line out from a PA/mixer. Would like to get £35 posted in the UK.

I like the "What's Hot?" tab. Almost everything. The weird thing is there's Squier and Ibanez basses on there that aren't much cheaper than a "Fender". I hope they're real, cos the idea of a fake Squier does my head in.

I've got a Sansamp Bass Driver DI (the original, not programmable version), which has been in my gig bag for a couple of years on the off-chance I might need it. As that hasn't happened, it's time for it to find a new home. It isn't in pristine condition - there's a bit of the surface coating rubbed away on the top and some nicks round the edges. This just makes it look like you've had it a while, which adds to your credibility. Anyway, from 3 feet away you can't tell. Also has velcro on the bottom. Does have the box and manual, and is fully working. In view of the cosmetics, I'm asking £85, incl postage in the UK. Unlikely to be interested in trades, as I've almost completely abandoned pedals, although I would be interested in a Line6 Backtrack +Mic. Whatever is offered, I promise to respond politely.

In American Idiot, I have an insane, irresistable urge to do a cheesey country & western style walk up to the D in the middle of the chorus. I can usually hold out till the guitar break, then I just have to let it go. Probably irritates our guitarist, but he never says. Actually more likely never notices.
Mr hedgehog, did you come to a decision about this? I have a b'scotch jazz and this would make a nice partner for it, though ideally I'd like a more standard P. Would be a straight sale though, don't have any basses up for grabs in the £400 region at the moment.
I have, for now at least I'm going to keep it. I don't quite understand why it sounds better now with the stock pickup than it did before when I replaced it, but that's what happened. I'll withdraw it now. Thanks for all the offers and other interest. -
That said, we do have a Halloween gig where we'll be dressing up as women, so I'll probably be after a dress from a charity shop.
You're braver than I would be. "Dorriiiis - we've got another pervert in!!!!"

On the rare times I go in guitar shops I come out appalled by the overpriced junk on sale and head back to ebay, where my saved searches are Fender, Guild/DeArmond, Hagstrom and a composite search labelled Japcrap.
Yeh,was just the photo up there looks very rounded compared to the one i used to have, and wish i still had. lol
That's my incredible photgraphic skills. Square things made round, round things made square. So, took it to a gig on Friday as backup, played it on one song and decided there's something up with the SD Antiquity. So I've swapped back the stock Fender pup and now I'm wondering if I want to off it after all. Gonna sleep on it (the decision, not the bass). -
What year is the bass as the colour did change? They did a yellow which really was like a lemon yellow and then the more recent was Butterscotch blonde which is more like an orange or butterscotch instant whip.
2004-2005 according to guitar dater (and its a CIJ R serial).
