1. Started on trombone, graduated quickly to bass trombone, started playing bass guitar (some 16 years ago now) quickly moved to fretless 5... Also play a few chords on keys, likewise on guitar and recently started playing drums (just for fun) - something I've always wanted to do However, main instrument these days is bass and always will be - still playing trombone but only the odd bits and pieces (doesn't really work too well after 12 months in the box!) It's good to make some noise, what ever your weapon of choice
2. Talking of mini rigs - i've just put together my first... Preamp - BBE Bmax T (modded and with 5751 valve - thanks Dave) Power amp - Alesis RA300 (at the moment - subject to change) Epifani UL112 - (Bought from kjb - thanks Kevin) Sounds great to me and an easy lift - the cab is so light and the 3U shallow rack is very manageable *mental note to self must post some pictures Until now I've used a variety of combos - carlsbro, peavy, trace (with 2x10 extension). EA iAmp200 and sound wise this little set up is a good if not better than all of them. The EA was easily the most portable but not by much. Mini rigs.. they're the future
3. This was originally mine Fancy a change mick? Hows the drumming? Great bass for money, somebody's gonna grab a bargain - good luck with the sale mick, have a bump on me... Good guy to deal with too - no worries
4. I bought into the Epifani sound (from kjb on here) a few weeks ago when putting together my new rig - must say that so far I'm very impressed... I'm 'only' using a UL112 but it sounds great... been jamming with it over the weekend but really looking forward to next weeks rehersal to try it out properly in a band setting. By way of comparison I've been using an EA iAmp 200 combo with the wizzy 1x12 for several years now and the Epifani is certainly as good if not better that the EA - (bettter is clearly objective) they're different in as much as the Epifani seems a bit fuller and warmer, less hi-fi than the EA in my opinion. Would like to try a bigger Epifani maybe a 310 or something but for the gigs I do I couldn't justify it and there's hardly room in the car as it is (I also look after the PA too)... Very happy with my purchase - thanks again Kevin
5. hardcase every time for me - gig bags just don't give me the confidence that my bass will always be ok... stick it in a case - no worries
6. Dave's the man... Modded my BBE Bmax T and put together a set of cables for my new rig, good price and great service - Had a good chat with him re power amps too. Cheers Dave, many thanks for you help and advice...

9.

Fantastic, it's not tab it's something altogether more entertaining - the rest of the band need to see this, I'm tempted to put it in an arrangement and see if they notice, see how good their sight reading is
10. I thought so too - think I was driving home from work when the auction ended, probably a good job otherwise I would have been tempted to put a bid on it looked lovely as well...
11. Must admit I was tempted by this one too... went in the end for £562 + 20 p+p - but not to me... Did anyone on here get it?
12. Superb
13. Looks great - if I wasn't looking for a new car right now I'd be tempted
14. Hi urb There's nothing quiet like getting a bass built for you - may it bring you many years of happiness... Looking great, good choice re the fingerboard - sure it will sound amazing

18.
PM'd you. It's probably the person you are sending to has disabled their messenger in their own control panel.
Hi Dan Got your PM, it must just be me
19. If it's only me that's cool - was just wondering if anyone else was having the same problems...
20. Hi guys Are the PMs working properly? Had a couple of strange things happen - an error message that said the user PM were blocked so I couldn't send and others that I've been expecting replies to and haven't received anything even though the users have been online making other posts - did they get my PM?... Cheers John
21. +1 for a bit of birdland... will you need to sight read anything on the audition?
22. the important thing to remeber here is that you know how important you are - you don't need to make a song and dance about it and niether does anyone else...
23. Drummers for the aforementioned reasons... Good Rhythm Guitarists - where are they - in my experience they all want to play lead... The guitarist I do most stuff with these days is a self confessed lead player - he also happens to be the best rhythm player I know, but would sooner play lead... ego's
24.
I was particularly unimpressed with the Alesis (just 'limp' somehow) and Behringer (warm and wooly)
I've got a pair of the Alesis Monitor Ones Mk2 Passive and the RA300 Power Amp in my home setup - they sound great to me, very clear and good separation, handles the bass really well - much better than what I had previous but I guess it's all realtive, compared to what I was using anything was going to be an improvement! That said I did a fair bit of reading up on all the various make and models and these seemed to a very solid performer and great value too...
