1. That looks like a dream I once had. Or was it a nightmare?
  2. It looks like a fretted Signature Limited Edition.
  3.
I think that's right. This link is to a new Ricky 4003. 4. I'm sure the Sub was offered as a passive bass and I've seen a passive Fender P with a MM fitted before now too.
  5.
hubba hubba that looks gorgeous!! Thinks I'm going to go for one of those with a maple neck.
Good choice!
  6.
Don't think anywhere around here has them... Would really like to seee Blizzard pearl in the flesh first.
James, here's a pic of my new American Std P in Blizzard Pearl. It looks ace in the flesh and is a colour which very few other people have at the mo'
  7. I recently bought my first "proper" Precision - a new American Standard, and I absolutely love it. It needed a few tweaks and a proper set up (done by Ged Green in Wilmslow - top bloke and recommended) but it is rapidly becoming my favourite bass. I should have bought one years ago.
  8.
still available! and price reduced!!
PMd
  9. I recently bought an absolute peach of a Stingray 2eq via Basschat for £550. £750 for a Sub is just wishful thinking TBH.
  10.
Looks like a really nice bass... Is that the new Blizzard Pearl colour? At the end of the day, it's not going to be brand new and shiny for long, so what really counts is how it plays, I suppose Looking at the pics, there's more adjustment on the bridge saddle for your G. Lines up with the pickup poles nicely, though.
It is Blizzard Pearl yes. Like you say if it plays well and sounds good nothing else matters.
  11. Yes the 1st pic is a new American Standard P and the 2nd is a Squier VMJ. I've only had the P a couple of hours so far and despite the QC issues I'm really loving the sound and playability. It sounds more "rounded" than my Reggie Hamilton with its P pup soloed and the neck is fab - much less of a tree trunk than my Warwick and similar to my Stingray. It's also light which is a big bonus in my book due to my increasingly knackered back. It's a definite keeper (so far!) but it just irks me when I look at that ragged neck pocket edge. Oh, and I also needed to do the old "loosen the neck screws and yank" trick to get the G string to not be too close to the edge of the fingerboard. Here's a couple more pics
Only real thought here is that the pic is so high res, how noticable is it really?
It's not that noticeable - I'm a picky bugger
Does your camera have a macro setting?
Pic was taken with macro yes.
  12. Here's a little quiz: Take 2 Fender basses. One was made in Indonesia and cost approx £200. The other was made in the Good Ol' US of A and cost £770 Can you guess which is which? Now I know that a nicely finished neck pocket is not the be all and end all of a decent bass but I would expect the bass costing nearly 4 times as much to exhibit better QC. Thoughts?
  13. Now sold pending usual.

    Feedback for Nev

Bought a Stingray 4 from him today. Excellent chap and an absolute peach of a bass. Hope the hand gets stronger soon. All the best, Ray

  18. What put you off? Too vintage sounding? Not vintage sounding enough? I was really interested in this but when I saw it had gone, GAS got the better of me and I bought a Stingray instead. Consequently, I can't afford it now. Doh! Anyway, good luck with the sale and consider this a bump.
  19. Does this have the side mounted jack?
  20.
I dispute it, I have a photo from 1214 in which my recently deceased uncle Nigel can clearly be seen wearing a vintage basse (made of wood and dodos beak) connected to his rig via a horse hair cable which is broadly accepted as the likely fore-runner to the quadraxial cable which was phased out (or was that out of phase) in the late 1500s, synonymous with pope Gregor great great great great great great grandfather of rap who took the afore mentioned technique and applied it to the 'rock hold' a similar technique where the leade vocalisterist (as formely known) loops one coil of mic lead around the mic holding hand. you need to brush up on your history (anag. shitory) mate
This was recently discovered in a tomb in Luxor alongside a dusty Ampeg B15

  22. Never seen one before. Wonder how it sounds? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-P-Bass-Model-...tem330219494645
  23. How about a Fender Reggie Hamilton Jazz? P/J pickups, 18V active circuit, Hipshot Detuner, USA P Pickup, Noiseless J Pickup. I play mine in a classic rock covers band and it drives the band like a P bass should with the neck pup soloed. It can't quite do the classic Jazz tone with both pickups but it comes fairly close. I picked mine up for £400 on ebay and I love it. More here
  24.
Monstrous update:
Crikey! If Doc Brown from Back to the Future played bass, that's what his rig would look like.
