Status-Graphite King Bass Artist (Moo) - SOLD -
RayFW replied to Silent Fly's topic in Basses For Sale
Sorry - Warwicks are not my thing (the only one I really like is the Dolphin Pro 4). Strangely enough, I like the Status Energy you are selling but the difference in value is so substantial that a trade wouldn't make any sense
I've got a Dolphin Pro 1 that I'd consider trading but I suspect you'd also want a wad of cash (which I don't have at the mo' ) -
iv emailed him asking about it if the reply is 'yes, its a genuine musicman pickup', then we know that this is certainly not a stock bass, and therefore a marker to stay clear.
I have definitely seen one of these for sale on a Japanese webstore site within the past few months so it may not be as dodgy as you think. I'll try and find a link later as I'm currently in the pub :-)
It's a CMD151P, you can tell with the carry handle on the top, and RRP is £1K+. I'm still not sure this "ebay links" forum is a good idea. I quite fancied bidding for this if it stayed on the cheap side but now I have to bid against you guys too. Anybody else feel this way.
My bad. You're right - it is the 15 incher so his price is pretty much spot on. I'm not bidding on it though- I already have a lurrrrvelly Markbass rig. I see where you're coming from about this forum - The Lakland Darryl Jones that I thought had been flying under the radar has now been unmasked here. Bah! Then again it has alerted me to some absolute bargains (a 5 string for £15!) as well.
Not sure about the 600 watts claim (surely it's 500 at 4 ohms?) and it doesn't look like the current model but may be a bargain at the mo ... Chap has a nice Lady Penelope Pink 'Ray for sale too
It's a CMD 121P and is 500W at 4 Ohms like you say. He's talking crap to say he paid over £1k for it unless he got a very bad deal. He also says it's digital which it isn't. Even so, could turn out to be a good buy.
Looks kick ass but how would I power it?
I'd knock up some kind of crazy magnetic induction system - powered by the movement of your fingers. The faster you play, the brighter it gets. The only downside is you'd have to wear thimbles.

My 08 American Standard P wasn't great when I first received it - high action, intonation out, uneven neck pocket gap. However, after a pro set up it is undoubtedly the best playing bass I own (and I own a few!). Tonally it's a bit of a one trick pony (it's a P after all and I can always add a J pup at the bridge) but it just feels right.
You can't really (IMHO) slag off Fender (or anyone else) for the quality of a route that is covered by the scratch plate, which, after all, is a standard part of the instrument. It's a bit like buying a car, taking the bonnet off and then complaining thet the engine isn't very pretty.
Yes but that 1oz of wood makes all the difference tone wise.

My first bass was a borrowed shortscale Kay EB/SG copy. It came strung with flats and had a single mudbucker - not exactly the best setup for copying the sound of my then hero, Mark King. It sounded absolutely terrible but I thought I was sooooo cool 'playing' Hot Water at 40BPM with the strap set as short as possible and a piece of insulation tape wrapped round my thumb.
