Alreet. Been lurking around here now for a couple of months and thought it was about time I got myself involved in some natter! Very (pleasantly) surprised to see so many fellow Nottinghamians around the place too. I'm a complete beginner in my mid twenties who just decided one day that I really wanted to learn a instrument and that I loved the low, deep tones of the bass. So picked up a cheap Westfield bass and amp off ebay a few months ago and have been trying to self teach myself with youtube videos and a couple of books (as well as the many fantastic threads on this forum!) After lots of looking around on here I'd like to get myself some lessons so was wondering if any of the people from Nottingham (or surrounding areas) knew of any good teachers in the south of the shire? Beeston, Chilwell, Long Eaton that kind of general area. That's where I'm based and I don't have my own transport (for now) which has ruled out a couple of fantastic looking teachers in other parts of Nottingham that are a pain in the arse to get to on bus's. Ta for making it through the wall of text and groove on!
Aye up me duck! and welcome fellow Nottinghamian You live not far from me actually (Strelley) and I just got my new car from Chilwell last month! There used to be a teacher in Long Eaton that used to teach above Phil Boot guitar shop but he closed down The guitarist in my band teaches guitar and bass for a living. There is another bass teacher in the same building. He is based in Ilkeston, I dunno if that's any good to you? if you are interested send me a PM and i'll pass on some details for you. Some teaches will come to you....maybe that's an option? good luck...Tony.
A couple of weeks ago whilst I was knocking down a wall at a friends house my finger was mangled in a sledgehammer / wall interface error. It hurts like hell and made a bit of a mess but it's mending slowly. It has left me not able to play for a bit and it certainly leaves me with a lot of time on my hands when I'm at home and not working. Hopefully it'll sort itself out soon and i'll be able to play without swearing all the time.. Fortunately I can just about still play the piano at the moment so that's taking up my time. It's horrible not being able to play when you want to!
Wow sorry to hear that, how unfortunate. At least you can listen to loads of music, go to gigs etc...chill and relax, you'll be back playing before you know it! All the best!

I rather like these with Alain Caron. The first is the band Uzeb. I'd never heard of Uzeb until recently The second is at a bass workshop........
I had the very same setup as my first "proper" rig. Top notch stuff and eminently giggable. Amazed it's still here as that price is a STEAL!
Thanks! yes it it is! Having already bought another amp/cab (Tecamp) it has to go. I would like at least £200 and I really think that's cheap. I just needed something lighter, the Tecamp amp weighs nothing and the cab is light for it's size. The Trace is pretty heavy, but the 2X10 is not as bad. -

This man is the tops guys. Phil saw that I was advertising for a Tecamp 1X15 cab. He got in touch, we agreed a price, and he met me on time here in Nottingham with the cab. The cab is like new and exactly as described. He is a true gent and a real nice man to deal with. I have no hesitation in recommending him to fellow Basschatters! Thanks Phil !
My band are using Titan 12s for FOH and 8s for monitors at the moment and they are fab bit of kit. Can only think that these 15s would be every bit as good, and louder!
Hi Pete. Yes they are a fab sounding speakers lots of volume and warm. I am selling these to buy 2 X 12" Wharfedale Titan speakers actually, and probably a single 12" Wharfedale Titan active. They should be enough for my needs as we only use them for my vocals. The Titan 15's are physically big but lightweight for their size. I bought them from a female singer in Sheffield and were used for vocals so they have not been abused. Due to my new car not having that much boot/rear end space (Seat Ibiza Copa), I need smaller one's, so i'm downsizing everything. My new Tecamp cab takes up all the boot! and the new speakers will go on the back seats. Do you think an 8" active monitor would be loud enough for a pub/club rock band? Tony.

Saturday bump! This amp and cab will be listed on Ebay on Sunday if there is no interest here, thanks. I have slightly modified my add. Just to make it clear, you are buying the combo. At that price it's a steal in my view. I have added the cab as well as a bonus, but the cab need a bit of work. Price dropped as I would like it moved on, I have more stuff to buy! Anyone? -

Hi guy's. Here's the last of my listings. I am selling this as part of my "downsizing" (bass amp/cab and PA stuff). Here I am selling my Wharfedale EVP12 PM active powered monitor. This is a wedge shaped, quite light, monitor with a 12" speaker and it is carpet covered. I believe it's 200w with a 320w peak (correct me if i'm wrong). This has been used as my vocal monitor for quite a while now. It's in excellent working order but used condition. It has a small peice of covering missing (see pix) I guess you could paint that bit in? it's never bothered me. I have a powered mixer so I use 2 X passive speakers as main PA then I run this out from the mixer for my vocals, so it does not use power from the mixer itself. As i'm replacing most of my PA I am letting this go for just £70 OVNO. I am not looking to trade. Collection only! you must collect or arrange to have it collected from me, I will NOT post and I have no packaging material for this. I live in Nottingham 5 minutes from junction 26 M1. Cash on collection or bank transfer is ok. Paypal ok if you cover their costs, but i'd rather not use it. Make me an offer you never know I might accept but no silly offers please. PM me if you are interested. I will place this on Ebay on Sunday if there is no interest here. Update: Someone has pointed out that the horn appears to have been removed and blanked off for some reason? Yes I can confirm this. I have removed the grill to check and this is indeed the case. It was like this when I got it because I have never even noticed it before as it's just a floor monitor as far as i'm concerned and does the job, but it is still plenty loud enough as I have gigged this for 3 years without any problems. This unit does work ok and it is "sold as seen". Anyone is welcome to inspect and try it first if they wish. I am still open to an offer. Thanks Tony

Hi guy's. As part of my "downsizing" of my equipment I am selling a pair of Wharfedale Titan 15" passive speakers. They are Grey, and cost around £400 new. These are used but full working order and I am looking for around £240 for the pair. 400w - 1600w peak! Full specs here: http://www.wharfedalepro.com/Home/Products...48/Default.aspx These are for COLLECTION only, you must collect them or arrange to have them collected from me. They are light weight for the size but far too big to post, plus I have no packaging for these. I live in Nottingham about 5 minutes from junction 26 M1. You can make me a serious offer, you never know I may accept, but no silly offers please! PM me if you are interested. They will be advertised on Ebay on Sunday if there is no confirmed interest here, thanks.
