1. I was so pleased with the situation in my current covers band. We have a decent set of numbers, mostly well known but not necessarily typical pub fodder. Then a couple of weeks back at rehearsal the guitarist decided that we must do Mustang and Wonderful Tonight. If he suggests Lady in Red, I'm off.
2. As Lemmywinks, I was about to use fishing as an example. It's particularly prevalent in the carp fishing world, especially with rods, reels and bivvies, some of which are hugely expensive and almost certainly not good value. But certain makes become must haves. Same with hi-fi enthusiasts, koi keepers and just about every hobby that is catered for.
3.
No, the 6.0 has not got this switch. Oh well, back to the shop, it's only a two hour round trip (M25 then A12), two of my favourite roads! Then I will probably have to do the same in a week or two's time to pick it up. The £50 I saved by buying it from this dealer, will all be lost in fuel costs. Maybe in hindsight, it's probably better to buy locally, where you can just pop in and out regularly. Maybe another good topic in the making!
Just made the same trip to Colchester with my shuttle 6.
4. Rich. That looks truly spectacular mate. Sorry to hear of the loss in your family, I can relate as we are dealing with the loss of my mum in law, found dead in her flat on friday night. We are all shocked and trying to come to terms with it. Hope you are doing ok. All the best, Gary
5.
Everyone here seems to dislike the Hercules ones (from past threads) but mine has served me just fine with my Jazz.
Same for me, best stand I've used.
6. Plectrum wedgy, check then out on ebay.
7. That looks seriously funky, love the fret board, you need to put a pic in Waynes thread on maple/blocks.
8. Nice one John. Must say I'm surprised you've started modding this one though.
9. What a handsome line up. Love the Precision and not usully mad on black.
10. What is becoming clear through this thread, is that one mans idea of the blues can be very different to the next.
11. I've got one of these for sale, might be what you are looking for. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=akai+sampler All the best, Gary
12.
Happy as usual.
Looks like you are unplugging the bass and preparing to wade in to the audience to give a heckler a thoroughly good whacking.
13. I've surprised myself by liking it. They don't usually do it for me, but that actually looks pretty damn splendid. Good luck.
14. Good idea Wayne. I think my fav would have to be the neck/fretboard on the Overwater Jazz at the Bass Merchants. I started a thread about it last week. Most stunning bit of maple I've seen and the block inlays were things of beauty. Seeing as you have a VMJ I won't post a pic of mine. None of my others have block inlays, although the jap neck on my bitsa is a cracker even if it does only have dot markers.
15. Amazing that such a cracking bass should wait so long to find a decent home.
16. I know that a lot of players feel that rotos don't stay bright for very long, but that is just ridiculous. I did use them, years ago, but haven't for a long time now. These days I use DR Highbeams, because even with my sweaty mitts they last for an age.

My Fenders

Lovely collection, thanks for sharing
18. Very nice and good set of pics. I'm a recent convert to G&L, having put a very last minute bid on an SB1 on ebay. There is a thread somewhere on here if you are interested. There is a fair bit of G&L love on this forum, but I do think they have been overlooked a bit by the majority of players.
19. Purchased a U.S. Fender Precision pick up from Dave. Arrived safe and sound, securely packaged Top man and pleasure to deal with.
20. I've got my grandads old philips reel to reel tape deck up in the loft. I can't remember the spec but will check it out tomorrow. It's been up there since we moved here in 1987, so I'll be amazed if it still works, but you never know. I'll get back to you. The other bit of good news, I'm very local to Hertford. all the best, Gary
21. Welcome to Bass Chat, hope you enjoy.
22.
I think it's stunning but I would be afraid to fart in the same room as it in case I damaged the finish.
Yes I know exactly what you mean. When Darren told me the price, I felt a tad wobbly and had to put it back on the wall hanger pronto
23. I think that's exactly what was happening. There are pics elsewhere somewhere, but to save searching out the link:
24. Sure I saw one on ebay a couple of days back. Think it was from the states though, but not necessarily a problem.
25. The bridge is now nicely refurbished. Apart from the existing screws all being burred up and just wrong, I found that none of them were biting properly. Once I had the bridge removed I filled the existing holes with wood and glue. Left it overnight to harden up and then refitted the cleaned up bridge with all new screws. Lemon oiled the fretboard and body, fitted new strings and then rehearsed it with the band. I'm sure it sounded better than it ever has in all the time I've owned it. To good to sell.
