  1. Looks like we may have a chance to play at this next year. Has anyone played there before? It's all a bit new to us, so how do we get gear across and travel, any tips or help really appreciated!! Thanks.

    Mozart

Thanks for these responses guys, time to work on her ladyship I guess!
  3. OK so I have had an East Coast Stagg clone for 5 years or so and mostly play it with my Church band. Today we had a barbecue where the band played and two very accomplishes violinists played a couple of Mozart violin sonatas and they asked if I could play with them, along with their keyboard player. Well of course I said yes and wow, just wow! Haven't played classical music since I was 18 (36 years ago) and that was on trombone. Managed to sight read the bass part and I think it sounded really nice. They've now asked me to play with them again! Think I now need a real DB, no room at home, what do I do?

    HH amps

Just been to rehearsal at the singers studio, last week he said no need to keep bringing my amp with me (it's a Markbass so not exactly heavy!) as he had found an old bass amp that hadn't been used for 10 years. It's an HH Bass Baby 60w and works very well and sounds great with the Precision. Never played one before but looks nicely Rock and roll!
  10. Yep, mine went last Saturday whilst playing at a local festival. Fortunately caught the Yamaha so no harm done, except a massive rise in blood pressure and having to sit on my combo for the rest of the song till I could fit a spare. Now my comfort straps have been replaced with thick leather and Schallers.
  11. Hen and Chickens pub in Baldock (North Herts) a great venue, great reception and mega friendly. Second time we've been there with the blues band, went down really well and we're back there next month. Can't be bad!
  12. An excellent idea, I take mine as a back up ever since I had a major bridge issue on my Jazz at a wedding gig 120 miles away! However, be sure to practice on it first as they are a bit odd, the neck is further away from you - so it's a bit of a longer stretch to the end of the fret board and the neck tends to tilt away from you. Otherwise, they never go out of tune and seem to be made of solid rock! Enjoy!
  13. Fantastic basses these, a bargain!
  14. Quite fancy this. Got an Epiphone Jack Casady if you're interested.
  15. Got a BB424x in tobacco burst - very happy with it indeed, has a good range of tones, nice neck and is well made, I'd get another one! Strangely I also have a Mexican P with SD quarter pounders! I think the 2 complement each other nicely as both cut well through the mix, but one of my guitarists prefers the BB424's sound, particularly with the bridge p/u up.
  16. I can go one better or worse I think, played 'Rocking Around the Christmas Tree' with my worship band at a recent Christmas fair for NO money!!
  17. Headington Conservative Club, Oxford, sometime in the early 70's (1972?) I was 12, playing 3rd trombone in a big band full of very old guys, well they were to me at the time, a few who had been in the Ted Heath band. My dad, rest him, bought me my first pint and said that as I'd played like a man I deserved to drink like one!! Never really progressed to bigger venues!! Still love it though, played an outside Christmas fair in our small town a couple of weeks ago with the worship band and as I explained to our guitarist who hasn't played live much before it's still the most fun you can have with your clothes on!
  18. Have a bump on me! Great basses, I put a white pickguard on (see my avatar) so the body doesn't look so pink, do that and you won't want to sell!!
