1. I also have one of the planet waves headstock tuners - I much prefer it to the idea of a modification to my bass, permanent or not! I have found it can take a bit of fiddling to get it on the right spot on the headstock to more accurately tune the strings, but like 'oopsdabassist' said, its well worth £12.
2. I noticed you said you were looking at getting a fretless, would a trade for this interest you at all? http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/watson-custom-4-string-fretless-bass/1030929752 http://www.watsonguitars.net/10B038C.html
3. almost any bass out of my financial range
4. I don't understand how a musician can turn up without equipment and expect to borrow someone else's. Having just bought a new and very expensive Aguilar rig, i can categorically say no one will be using it unless i know and trust them very well!
5.
You have to change the file extension to pdf, some problem with the forum software, apparently.
aaah sorted! Thanks very much - awesome transcription work, this will keep me busy for some time.
6.
Here's a partial transcription, it's the "Speak like a child" bits. Joe
Thanks for that Joe - I cant seem to open the file though, says its an iphone script file? Seems ridiculous i cant open it on an imac :s
7.
Kuru
Thanks - but, as mentioned above, this vamp is the transcription i already have, I was after the complete transcription for the whole track.
8. Jacked from a thread in the 'wanted' section, thought i'd let you guys take a look at this and offer your thoughts: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=390583048667 8 and a half grand seems incredibly pricey, especially given that it looks like it sold not too long ago from Andy Baxter's site for over 2 grand cheaper: http://andybaxterbas...ails.php?id=358 as a little addition i did a little search through the basschat archives and found this old thread, and it seems that its this bass: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1629803
9.
I was learning some Jaco's stuff.Have you seen the Hal Leonartds book? If you want I have one spare I can pass it. I usually try to go and transcribe stuff by ear and use someone else's transcription as a guide ( check the fingering)> I usually choose some study piece and try to get bar by bar and get by ear and work on it every day...listen to it allot and by no time you will be able to pick it up .. I heard guys that they play the transcriptions or read tab but they completely lost feel how it should sound ( and that is I believe first recording and than you can change it however you want, the whole point is to learn from recording as I am quite sure you are not gonna play it a band ?)
I currently have 6 different JP based books, The 'Signature Licks' book has the intro/vamp and the 3/4 over 4/4 vamp he plays over the first piano solo, but nothing else. The 'Bass method' book has a 1 bar vamp exercise. The intention was to use the transcription to learn the part so i could play it as a performance piece.
10. Is the 'Precision Bass' decal usually that close to the edge of the headstock? Smells fishy...
11. Christ - what a bargain. Might be in touch soon.
12.
I'll have a look what I've got in my stuff.
thanks for looking anyway! here's a youtube link to the song if anyone hasn't already heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgwkvbzd9x4
13. Any ideas where i could get my hands on a complete transcription of this epic? I've got numerous books stating the song is included among the transcriptions, but its only the 'Kuru' bassline (the repeating vamp) and nothing else! A bit frustrating, as its a bit too ambitious for me to tackle a transcription of myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Martyn
14. An excellent looking and sounding bass! Have a bump on me. Unless you're interested in an american standard p bass....
15. My 2 sets of flats arrived last week - i also got the email about the increased shipping costs, $16 instead of $4 is a bit of a hike but i decided to go for them anyway. Seems i've managed to avoid import tax as well - all is good.
16. Just received the album in the post earlier - good old pre-order early delivery! I love it, it has a real great vibe - the slower pace actually makes me enjoy it more. "The Game of Love" has such a good groove.
17. I currently have 4 basses, looking to cut it down to 3: 4 string jazz 5 string precision 6 string bass doc creation (which is up for sale) and a 4 string fretless (this bad lad: http://www.watsonguitars.net/10B038C.html) I think 3 is enough for everything i'm interested in - the 5 string precision will be the one bass on that list ill probably never sell on, but the jazz and the fretless will give way to others eventually i expect, the fretless sooner than the jazz.
18. I'd go for this: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/DIngwall_ABI.html It's at bass direct so chances are you tried it out today...
19. That P-bass looks great! Where are you based out of interest?
20.
So have you shifted that SWR yet or do you want to pay by instalments?
Still chewing those fingers...
21. Bump. Will now ship to anywhere in the UK
22. Theres a new Markbass combo with Jeff berlin's name on it - he's an opinionated fellow so i guess that means he doesn't mess around with poor gear. http://www.markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=240 £425 from GAK
23.
You are all wrong
Nothing like an opinion eh! :S From my experiences with a P-bass its coped marvellously with everything, that is why i recommended it.
24. Im in Newcastle - and i'd rather it be collection if i'm honest, that way we can deal face to face. Plus the price of shipping may end up being rather expensive
25. SICK bass. As i don't own any Warwick basses any thoughts of a trade seem pointless, but have a bump on me - whoever gets this will not be disappointed.
