  1. Having just switched from the CMD121P+NY121 to the newer MB58r cabs I can confirm they are significantly deeper! What used to fit easy in the car behind my upright bass is now a bit of a squeeze… sounds great though
  2. @beanydcThese are the ones I use. Not sure whether they make this version specifically anymore but they’re great https://levysleathers.com/collections/leather-guitar-straps/products/signature-tri-glide-suede-series
  3. I’ve always used all-suede straps on all my basses as it sticks to your clothes and never slips. Also can help with neck dive. Levy’s used to make some great ones.
  4. I’m probably going to regret this, but I think it’s time to let this one go. This is the first Sandberg bass I bought. It was my main bass for a good few years and I did at least two tours with The Divine Comedy on it. It’s a TM4 in a gorgeous blackburst finish, and it’s one of the original jazz bass-style shapes from 2006, before they changed to the current design. It has a pau ferro fingerboard with no inlays, Delano pickups and the original preamp. Comes with the original Sandberg gig bag which is looking a bit tatty on the front (🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛) but is still perfectly serviceable. It sounds absolutely glorious and plays like butter. I usually played it in passive mode but the active preamp is excellent. There is a scratch on the back which you can see in the photos and a little tiny dent in the back of the neck which was never an issue. Apart from that it’s in fantastic condition for an 18 year old bass. The one downside is the weight. It’s pretty hefty. My luggage scales bring it somewhere between 4.75-5kg. Unfortunately my back doesn’t agree with me playing long shows with this bass anymore. My number one bass nowadays is a masterpiece aged TM4 that I had built for me a few years ago and that bass essentially usurped this one when it arrived so sadly it isn’t getting played anymore. You can hear/watch this bass in action! We did a very strange gig on French TV back in 2019 where we played the whole of the (then) new album Office Politics in an office. The bass comes though great in the recording… Not looking for any trades thanks. Collection from Peckham SE15 is preferred so you can try it out. Could also meet up somewhere in London if that helps. I don’t fancy posting it I’m afraid. Cheers! Simon
  5. Oops… forgot the weight! According to my luggage scales this weighs about 3.8kg ⚖️
  6. Selling my trusty JMJ Mustang bass after several years of excellent, if infrequent, service. Bought it used a few years ago from here and mainly used it for recording. It’s in great condition and comes with the extra black scratch plate and tags. Currently strung with some well played-in La Bella 760F-MUS strings and there’s also a set of some used D'Addario nickel rounds in there that I would swap over occasionally depending on the gig. It’s a fantastic sounding bass. Only selling as I’ve just bought a Wilcock bass that will cover the same ground. It’s in the Fender gig bag it came in which is looking rather sorry for itself (thanks to my three cats) but still does the job. Collection from Peckham SE15 preferred or could possibly meet up somewhere in London if necessary. Not after any trades thanks. Simon
  7. Both setups have a good amount of low end punch; the 102 always felt a bit clearer in tone around the upper mids and above than my own setup but I loved the sound of the two 12” cabs together. Plus I play a lot of upright and that sounded better through the 12”s too
  8. I’m not sure whether it’s because the tweeter is angled directly at you in the 102P but I would say it’s noticeably louder. I’m talking specifically about the combos with the Combo II heads here, couldn’t say with the more recent models. I regularly played through two 102P’s at two different venues and the hiss when nobody is playing was just plain annoying. Hence my comment about using it for home practice; that would drive me round the bend. However, once you’re playing the amp sounds fantastic. The CMD121P I had also had the hiss but it didn’t ever bother me to the same extent; but again, it didn’t have the tweeter pointing right in my ear..
  9. I have the exact same bass, except mine is from 2013. One of the nicest basses I’ve ever had. Hope you enjoy it 👍
  10. Hi @Dal I had the CMD121P and extension cab for years until recently and it was a very useful and versatile combination, and it sounds great for electric and upright bass. I’ve also played a lot of shows with the 102P combo as it’s the house amp at a couple of venues I play at regularly. I really do enjoy the sound of the 102P during a gig, but I think the hissy tweeter would get annoying very quickly if you were using it for practice at home. If it’s just for electric bass I’d say the 102P is a good choice. The angled cab means you can always hear yourself clearly on stage without being overly loud. If you also play upright, I’d go the other way with the 121P and extension. Good luck!
  11. Thanks Mick. So lovely to meet you 👍
  12. Bought a beautiful Wilcock bass from Mick @Old Man Riva today after he answered my ad in the wanted section. An absolute pleasure to meet him. We had a lovely chat and discovered we have many mutual friends. And I’m blown away with the bass. It’s going to get played a lot in the very near future… Many thanks Mick!
  13. @dodgnofski has a medium scale jazz up for sale right now. Looks lovely 👌
  14. …plus In the past I had a 1x15 and 4x10 Warwick setup and that sounded glorious. Both 8ohm cabs.
  15. I’ve never heard that you have to use matching cabs. A 1x15 and 2x10/4x10 is a classic combo and should give you a good range. I also have the 102 Energy and a 104 Energy. Just make sure they’re both 8ohm cabs. And I’d wire them in series…
  16. Good point. Assuming you do indeed have the 8ohm cab, you’d be currently getting 150W with that setup. You’d need to add a second 8ohm cab to get the full 300W out of your amp
  17. The combo is now sold and the cab is still on hold
  18. Great idea. Just saw it pop up on a listing I’ve been wondering about for a while now. Thanks @ped👍
  19. The Sandberg SL’s are unbelievably lightweight. Their regular basses are pretty light anyway but the first time I picked up an SL to try out I couldn’t believe how little it weighed. I also have an American Standard Precision from around 2016ish which is unusually light. Sometimes you get lucky with Fenders…
  20. Absolutely. I’ve had bits from Arturia and Ashdown that had to go straight back to the shop. Sometimes it’s just bad luck…
  21. That doesn’t sound good at all. I’d go straight back to the shop with it for an exchange. Used the exact same amp for years and that was never an issue. Sounds like you’ve ended up with a faulty one 😬
  22. Fantastic instruments. Love mine. GLWTS 👍
