  1. True. Although I think it’s less likely that newer strings will break in a gig. I sold that Thumb bass years ago and I can’t remember the last time a string broke in a live situation since then. I’ve had a couple go as they were initially strung onto basses but they were clearly duff strings. As for taking a spare bass I really only ever have a spare when I touring and rarely does it get used. Always have spare strings (new and old!) and plenty of batteries though. Especially for my Yamaha SLB300 which goes through AA’s like they’re going out of fashion!
  2. Always a good move. Also helps avoid the sound of the one brand new string boinging out over the others. My first really good bass back in the late nineties was a Warwick Thumb NT4 and that had a similar problem where one of the bridge saddles would cut through strings during gigs. Used to have to carry loads of spare G’s. On one gig I went through two and ended up having to tune a spare D string up to a G. My fingers were shredded to pieces by the end…
  3. Beautiful bass! GLWTS 👍
  4. Hi @ivyserpent. Do you know the weight and string spacing? Looks like the spacing is adjustable but wondering where it’s set at the moment. And does it come with a case/gig bag of any sort?
  5. Bet that sounds amazing. Good price so far too…
  6. I reckon it’s the fact that Ian Martin Allison from SBL has a beloved Antigua Jazz bass that’s pushed the prices up on these. Anything that gets featured on their videos instantly gets an instant price bump on the used market.
  7. Definitely worth checking out the EBS Unichorus. Spent a long time searching for just the right chorus and that one was the favourite. Had mine for years now. There was one up for sale on here last week…
  8. Blimey. Looks like some kind of gardening tool…
  9. Lovely chorus pedal. Still my favourite. Someone will be very pleased with this. GLWTS 👍
  10. Stunning bass 👌
  11. @Obrienp The V in Sandberg World refers to the precision-style split coil pickup. T being a jazz pickup and M being a Musicman style humbucker. Hence a VM has one split coil and one humbucker etc… That’s a lovely looking bass @grayn 👌
  12. Me three! And I also use it for a little duo gig I do in Soho with my Yamaha EUB. Sits nicely on top on the upright piano and has plenty of volume to get over the chatter. Sounds lovely and full at lower volumes at home
  13. Sold a bass to Jamie @Veils today. Very possibly his old bass in fact! We met up at Euston station and had a great chat. Really lovely guy and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks Jamie!
  14. Good to hear you’ve been reunited! I must say there are a couple of basses I’ve sold over the last ten years that I’ve been sorely missing of late. Great that it’s still as good an instrument as you remember too 👍
  15. Definitely ask a moderator. @Kev sorted out my feedback threads for me last week 👍
  16. You know what, it may well be a JM4. I can’t really find much info on the old models. It’s the same pickups and preamp configuration as as TM4 but with a different body shape, so I just went with sticking to TM4. Think it was labelled as a TM4 in Guitar Guitar where I bought it (used). I did have a sneaking suspicion it might have a different name…
  17. I’ll be driving up to Durham tomorrow if anyone’s interested in the bass up that way?
  18. That’s a stunning looking bass. Good luck with the sale 😉
  19. Thanks Pascal. Enjoy the Mustang!
  20. Sold my trusty JMJ Mustang bass to Pascal @paznit this morning. Very easy to deal with and a lovely chap. Buy/sell with confidence folks! 😎
  21. Hey Tom. Welcome! I’m just up the road from you in Peckham. See you down the shops! 😉
