  1. Not sure about balancing things on the bass itself. One of the great things about the buggy is that the bass balances really well and it can stand up on its own. Could you carry the bag on your back or is that too heavy? I’ve done many tube journeys with the bass on the buggy and either a bass guitar or small amp on my back/shoulder. I don’t love it, but it is doable…
  2. At that price for an extra £150 it’d be far safer to buy a new one. If the seller was close and you could pick it up then okay, but zero feedback and that crazy low postage has got alarm bells written all over it. Those photos could be from anywhere…
  3. Either it’s a brand new seller using eBay for the first time who’s massively underestimated the cost of shipping a bass… or it’s a scammer. If I were seriously interested in that bass I’d want to be making that deal in person either way
  4. Decided to sell my Mono M80 dual bass case. Used literally twice to get me to studios and back so pretty much brand new. An excellent and well-designed piece of kit but I’ve come to the realisation that my back can’t manage two of my basses in one big case on public transport. Would really prefer to have this collected from Peckham SE15 or could meet up somewhere in London. I don’t have the original box (it was massive!). Here’s my feedback thread on here for anyone interested
  5. No they definitely weren’t really brothers. Scott Walker was such an influential figure in modern music. And by all accounts not too shabby on the bass too. The 30th Century Man documentary is really worth a watch. And of course the Scott 1-4 albums are all just superb. I might start referring to Paul McCartney as “that Beatle” on here from now on though, just for shits and giggles! 🤣
  6. @MacDaddyCheers Simon 👍
  7. Thanks Peter that’s very kind of you to offer. I’m based in London but I am playing up in Sheffield next month 😉
  8. @QuatschmacherI’ve never managed to have a go on the Future Impact. Not sure I’ve ever seen one in the flesh in fact. They’ve clearly got a lot going on under the hood in terms of synth architecture. Not mad keen on bass gear that may/may not need an editor though. If one does crop up on my travels I’ll be sure to have a play though; I’m intrigued as to how it responds under the fingers.
  9. Still enjoying the fact that Scott Walker has been reduced to “this Walker Brother” in this thread! 🤣
  10. Beat me to it! Definitely a Vox Symphonic https://equipboard.com/items/vox-symphonic-bass
  11. If you spend a lot of time lugging an upright bass about on foot or on public transport it’s the best £200 you could possibly spend. If my one broke tomorrow I’d be straight online buying another one. Had mine for about 4 or 5 years and wouldn’t be without it.
  12. I’d love to know how many of these they end up actually selling.
  13. Neither had I until I suddenly did… tastes change over time and I’ve found myself wishing I’d never sold a couple of basses I got shot of about ten years ago. Even considering getting in contact with one of the buyers (friend of a friend) to see if he still has the bass and might consider selling it back to me. Having said that, a bass sat doing nothing for years on end will end up needing some love to get it in top shape again. Recently bought an old Warwick that had been sat unplayed for 10/15 years and it’s needed some major setup work and some electrics replaced. Always try to keep my basses in rotation to maintain top playability.
  14. Sold Mike a strap last week. Absolute pleasure to deal with. Thanks Mike
  15. @Al Krow Mainly I was using various combinations of octavers, envelope filters, chorus, distortions etc. I’ve had various multiFX in the past too but I was using those for very different purposes. With careful tweaking I could muster a decent synth bass sound for a gig on separates, but that would tie up 2/3 pedals just for one sound so the ability to have a bunch of giggable meat and potatoes synth sounds ready to go is brilliant.
  16. I regularly use a Capo and Cali76 bass compressor so adding the bass synth to that puts me firmly in the club. And before the bass synth came out I was wrangling the three usual suspect 3Leaf pedals trying to coax out those exact sounds so I’m happy to have it all in one little box. Do still use the MXR bass octave deluxe for straight octaver sounds though. Suited my basses better than the 3Leaf.
  17. I feel seen… 😳 Having said that I finally managed to get my hands on the MXR a couple of weeks ago and am totally blown away by it. It’s going to get a thorough rinsing on gigs. So easy to dial in and those presets sounds amazing right out the box. Have been chasing those sounds for years. Really couldn’t be happier with it.
  18. I use one of the K&M electric upright stands for my Yamaha SLB300. Pretty sturdy and has a little bow hook which is handy. Way cheaper and lighter than the official Yamaha stand too… https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/miscellaneous-musical-instrument-stands/konig-meyer-14160-electric-double-bass-stand?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ADC_Bax_UK_NBD_Shopping_bucket1&utm_id=22697294629&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22697294629&gbraid=0AAAAA_lFRUzdL_VJkyg2uBzto0d2KkJK4&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqqDFBhDhARIsAIHTlks6l8oCmhujg39GMpfpcsyeHDE-s4Y4kQWY_3ZSuiz83p6N82CYapMaAph7EALw_wcB
  19. Singing BVs whilst stomping on pedals is always a risky business. I’ve struggled with that one too… 🙄
  20. Not being funny but have you experimented with a narrower shoe for gigs? I have this problem even with separate pedals; especially if I’m wearing Doc Martens! Same thing with overly pointy shoes. Never happens in rehearsals when I’m invariably wearing sneakers…
  21. The best sounding B string I’ve ever come across is on the Ken Smith HF Burner I bought about six months ago. Absolutely thunderous sounding; almost synth-like in the purity of the tone. Regular 34” scale but built beautifully. Aside from that I’ve had a couple of Warwick 5-strings (bolt-on and NT) and both of them had excellent B strings; very even across the whole fingerboard. Definitely worth investigating.
  22. I’ve seen a few guitarists using these K&M stands. I’m sure they could handle a bass… https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/KandM-17581-Heli-2-Electric-Guitar-Stand-Black/1YZ5?origin=product-ads&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22290702940&gbraid=0AAAAAD_kjLRlsHmsJiER70uSV0b6kZVO_&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnovFBhDnARIsAO4V7mC-U_GJ_w_DSSP58fTh0Q0ZFaAaMmQ0rX9uyswijgE3b_9k59j6gQ0aAtu7EALw_wcB
  23. Oh man I forgot about fretless basses! Bought three different ones over the years because I thought I should have one in the arsenal only to sell them on years later when no opportunity to use them live presents itself. Nearly did it again a few weeks ago but common sense prevailed at the eleventh hour…
  24. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been looking up Thumpinators again…
